Chapter 159: ‘I Like You’
Chapter 159: ‘I Like You’
Jules’ pov
"It’s like you get prettier everyday." Elio pointed out and I laughed a little, cheeks growing a little pink.
I was sitting across from him at one of the cafes here in the building where we have to spend three more days in before we return back to school.
"I could say the same about you. I love your hair so much, it fits you so much." His sliver colored hair shone beautifully and brought out the curve of his cheeks and chin in a very prominent way.
His hair was the best part of his face in my opinion, or it was probably because his hair reminded me of my actual hair color.
I had to retouch my roots this morning and I grew a little teary while doing it because I really do love my hair and wished I never have to walk around with dark hair which still looked weird to me till date.
Elio snorted and shook his hair a little. "This isn’t my actual hair color by the way. This is dyed." He revealed and my eyes widened because I really thought they were his actual hair color this entire time.
"Really?"
He nodded. "Of course. People aren’t born with hair colors like this, are they? That’s only a myth."
I nodded slowly, mouth twisting. "Yeah, you’re right."
He was absolutely wrong, but of course I wasn’t gonna tell him that.
"So... you looking forward to Friday?" He asked, referring to the day after tomorrow, which is when the sports competition is finally gonna happen, and the day everyone’s parents were supposed to come watch their kids.
In all honesty, I wasn’t looking forward to it because I could already feel that something bad was gonna happen that day. I knew the higher ups were gonna show up that day and I wasn’t looking forward to seeing who they are, knowing that they could summon me that day and in the presence of everyone, I wouldn’t have an opinion than to answer the call.
"If you’re wondering about my answer, I’m not looking forward to it." Elio’s worcs cut through my thoughts in the next moment.
"I’m not looking forward to it either." I breathed out and he leaned forward, slapping his hands over the table a little.
"Oh my gosh! You’re the first person who isn’t looking forward to it out of the bunch of people I’ve asked. Finally I’m not alone on this." He gushed and I laughed a little.
"A lot of people are looking forward to it?" I asked and he nodded fast.
"A lot of people. It’s genuinely ridiculous because I don’t even see the point of it but people are pretty hyped up for it." He explained and I shrugged after a few seconds.
"Oh well, that’s good for them, I guess?" I offered and he laughed while agreeing with me.
"Too bad we can’t sit it out. I’d rather stay locked up in my room than to attend the dumb competition." I huffed out,
"We really can’t?" I asked and he nodded.
"It’s mandatory that we all show up." He explained and I frowned because I thought we could skip it if we wanted to.
Before I could say anything else, Elio threw his hand up and waved, eyes lighting up. I turned around out of curiosity and my eyes landed on two people I never anticipated seeing.
Taylor and Josh.
They were walking side by side.
I felt a stabbing feeling in my chest in the next moment, one which instantly made me feel nauseous.
Since that fight back in Taylor’s room, we’ve not had any other encounter. He never bothered texting or calling and since I believed he was in the wrong, I refused to reach out first. I’ve also not spoken to Josh since then either, which was because he was Taylor’s friend before he became mine, and I didn’t want him to feel like I wanted to steal him from Taylor or befriend him without Taylor in the picture.
Seeing him and Taylor walking together right now filled me with a rush of betrayal.
I turned away from them right after our eyes locked, and after they passed, Elio asked if I was alright and I assured him that I was. If he noticed something odd, he didn’t point it out.
After a little while, I was about to supply an excuse to him so I could head up to my room, but I was stopped by the sudden appearance of Kai. He was standing by our table, hands placed beside my phone.
"Can we talk?" He said, staring down at me and I pursed my lips and shook my head.
"I’m currently hanging out with my friend."
Kai turned towards Elio. "Can you give us a few minutes to talk?"
Elio shook his head. "Sorry, but no."
Kai remained beside our table. "This really won’t take long. I just want to ask a few questions." He urged and I let out a long sigh.
"Okay then." I informed him and he gave a pointed look to Elio.
"It needs to be private." He had a determined expression across his face, and it was clear he wasn’t ready to take no for an answer.
I reluctantly got to my feet, promising Elio that I’d be right back.
I accompanied Kai to the side of the cafe in order for us to speak in private.
"What do you want?" I asked and he frowned a little.
"Is this how you treat your friend now? I’m hurt."
I let out a sigh and backed away a little. I knew I was asked to not speak to him again but he didn’t seem like he’d take no for an answer.
"How’s your trauma from yesterday? Recovering fine?" He asked, clearly referring to the entire incident with the mall and the kidnapping. "Also, you need to be careful. You’re being watched here by a few people here in this compound."
"How are you aware of these things and why are you telling me?" I demanded, feeling extremely perplexed and he gave me a pointed look, mouth twisting slyly.
"Surely you must have figured that out." He responded and I shook my head.
"Actually, I haven’t. You also sent me a text two nights ago concerning my life. I’d appreciate a clear answer." I responded bluntly because I have enough riddles in my life at this point.
"Well, it’s because I like you, Jules."
