Blaze’s pov

I needed a smoke.

Even though my entire body feels charged and on high drive like it does whenever I give into the urge to feed on souls, i still have the urge to be currently doing something with my hands.

Before Roy left, he gave me a long look.

I knew he wanted to say something. It was written across his face, but because we weren’t alone, he ended up bidding Jules goodbye before leaving.

It felt like an heavyweight was laying across my chest and I hated feeling this way. As the look of fear in Jules’ eyes flashed across my mind once again, the heavy weight sitting on my chest heightened even more.

I turned around and glanced at him. He was staring down at his fingers and biting on his bottom lip, seeming like he was deep in thoughts.

When he glanced up and our eyes locked, his mouth parted a little and he tentatively walked forward till he was standing close to me. The look of fear wasn’t present across his face right now but I couldn’t forget how it looked.

He soon began to clear his throat. "Thank you for rescuing me." He breathed out and a chuckle tugged at the side of my lips as I regarded him.

He doesn’t understand that I didn’t do it just for him. I did it for myself, I’ve always done it for myself because I really couldn’t imagine living life without seeing him again.

I reached down and cupped his face, carefully watching his eyes for any sign of fear, but there was none.

"I told you I’d always do that. I keep to my words no matter what." I spoke quietly after a little while, fingers massaging his cheeks slowly.

He bit on his bottom lip for a few seconds before continuing.

"What happened back there? With those two men?" He asked, eyes widened as he stared at me.

I let out a long sigh and dropped my hand while taking a step back. He instantly reached out and grabbed my wrist with his two hands.

"Don’t un away." His voice was soft as he spoke and it tugged at the spot in my chest.

I snorted a little. "I wasn’t running." I informed him as he stepped closer to me and buried his face in my chest, fingers still wrapped around my wrist.

"Don’t shut me out. I- I’m not gonna judge you, I promise. I just want to understand, I want to understand everything about you."

I glanced ahead and let out a sharp exhale. He felt so nice against my body right now and I badly wanted to wrap my arms around him and hold him tight right now.

"You were scared." I pointed out and he glanced up at me, mouth parted.

"You were scared of me back there. You think I’m ever gonna hurt you?"

His eyes widened and he hurriedly shook his head. "What? No! No! I- I’d never think that, I swear. I was just scared in that moment after witnessing that happen because that was my first time seeing that happen, and also because I never expected it."

He paused for a moment. "If you had told me you could do that beforehand, I’d have known what was coming, and I wouldn’t have been shocked. That’s why I want to know and understand you. I’m sorry you thought I was scared of you, I know you’d never hurt me."

It was clear that he was worried about how I might have felt about him being scared of me and it warmed my heart to watch him try to make me feel better with his words. I know it’s very understandable for him to have been shocked, anyone would have been in that situation.

I reached for his face and stroked his cheek once again, watching as his eyes fluttered shut for a few seconds.

"The first time it happened was when I was ten." I explained and his eyes flew open, making me chuckle a little.

"You see, I never fully understood what I was. I was never normal, and it affected me physically and mentally. When I was born, I wasn’t born as just a werewolf, I was born with other abilities, which I wasn’t supposed to possess. I was labeled an abomination because of that, and for the safety of others, I had to spend most of my time growing up by myself."

His entire face slowly got filled with horror as I continued.

"My father comes in on most days with animals and some guards. He knows I had a reaction to noise as someone who spent everyday being locked away in a dark room. Whenever he comes in, the dogs are trained to circle me and bite me if I move an inch or make a sound. It happened a lot and whenever I got bitten, I wasn’t supposed to do anything. Most times, I end up killing the animals and that served as more punishment for me."
