Chapter 155: Reflecting
Chapter 155: Reflecting
Jules’ pov
It was hard for me to breathe.
As I stared at Blaze whose eyes were starting to change back to their normal color, I was consumed with a sudden chill, one which rattled through my insides and rolled down my spine.
Blaze took a step towards me and my heart thumped against my ribs, different emotions swirling in my stomach.
I was completely horrified. I had just witnessed what I never imagined witnessing before.
Even back at home, I’ve never heard of anyone being able to do that. It unnerved me to the very core that Blaze had been able to do that.
It made me begin to wonder if I really know who he is, or what he is in this situation.
He took one more step forward and I didn’t the unthinkable, I did the one thing my instincts pushed me to do– I flinched. That stopped him in his tracks just as my eyes widened at the realization of what I had done.
I noticed something which resembled hurt flash across his face and that sent a sharp feeling of pain through my chest.
Fuck.
I scrambled to my feet and was about to say something, even though I had no idea of what to say.
But then the driver’s side of Blaze’s car opened and Roy stepped out.
"Kim sent a text. I think we should leave. People are currently on their way here." Roy called out, staring at Blaze as he spoke.
He glanced over at me and nodded a few times. "You alright?"
I nodded slowly, still feeling too shaken up to speak.
Roy didn’t seem like he had witnessed anything unusual, and he had definitely watched what happened from the glass of the car.
Which means something like that is already considered normal of them?
My head was starting to hurt and even though I don’t drink, if felt like I really needed a drink right now.
"We should get going now." Blaze’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts and I cleared my throat while nodding slowly.
When he walked towards me this time, I remained firm and didn’t flinch, because I know that even though I didn’t understand how he had been able to do that or how that was possible, I just know that he’d never hurt me no matter what.
However, he didn’t stop before me like I assumed. He walked past me, headed for his car and I bit on my bottom lip and tried to ignore the sinking feeling mixing with the dreadful feeling in my stomach right now.
Ouch.
I guess I did deserve that one.
Blaze was holding the door open when I turned around and I had my head downturned as I whispered a thank you and slid into the car.
Once he was in, the door slammed close and Roy pulled into the street once again, speeding down the empty street.
"Was there any CCTV around?" Blaze asked and Roy responded almost immediately.
"No, there isn’t. But there’s one a few pace ahead and I’m already in their system. I’ll wipe off any trace of this car from it with just one click." Roy explained and that was when I noticed the opened laptop at the second seat in the front.
I let out a slow breath as my mind slowly drifted over the entire thing that happened in a span of one hour, if it was even up to that. First, the plan failed, then I ended up getting captured after running and running, then Blaze came, saved me and sucked those men up. I wasn’t sure of what Blaze actually did but it still feels maddening and disbelieving to think about.

When we pulled up at the spot we agreed to meet up with Kim after the job gets done, we met him pacing around.
"They’re both dead." Roy responded to him after he asked where the two men who captured me were at.
"Oh." Kim breathed out, gaze tentatively darting towards Blaze who was standing at the far end of the spot, staring straight ahead.
A sinking feeling settled in the pits of my stomach again.
"I really didn’t know those bastards had a backup plan." Kim breathed out, a perplexed expression across his face.
"Where’s the driver they sent you?" Roy asked and Kim shrugged.
He left to deliver the fact that I failed the mission so I’m currently expecting their call which is bound to come in anytime soon, and I’m worried that they’d be really mad this time.
"Oh they’d be furious. They’d undoubtedly end up killing you this time." Roy chuckled as he spoke and Kim let out a dejected sigh.
"You think so too?"
"It’s just easy to figure out. They didn’t kill you the first time you failed because they believed you’d get it right the second time. They’d undoubtedly kill you this time because they don’t believe in third chances." Roy continued and Xander scowled.
"Do you know every damn thing about me?" Kim demanded, bristling and Roy scoffed.
"As a matter of fact, I do." He responded, but before Kim could say anything else, Blaze’s voice filled the atmosphere.
"It’s time to leave, Kim."
Kim visibly stiffened and slowly turned towards Blaze.
"Will they really kill me?" He sounded like he desperately needed to be convinced otherwise.
"You think I care?" Blaze snapped and I stiffened as well.
"Here’s the thing, Kim. I knew you’d undoubtedly get killed by them after this mission, but I also planned on saving your ass and preventing that from happening. But you fucked that chance up when you cracked those supposed joke with Jules today."
I bit on my bottom lip as I watched as Kim frantically tried pleading for mercy, but Blaze ordered him to leave and he had no choice but to do just that.
Once Kim left, Roy offered to drive us back but Blaze asked him to leave as well and he did exactly that after waving me goodbye.
Now, with Blaze and I alone, I felt tongue tied and completely unsure of what to say.
