Chapter 150: D-Day

Jules pov

"You understand all that you’re supposed to do, right?" Blaze asked Kim who nodded in understanding. He had his hands shoved in his pockets as he responded.

"I do. I won’t dare make a mistake."

"You better not." Blaze snapped, no traces of teasing in his voice.

Since the moment I woke up, Blaze had been in a serious mood, which was because today is the day Kim was supposed to successfully lure me straight to the bad guys.

Kim had arrived a few hours ago, and we’ve all gone over the plans Blaze made with him over the phone last night.

Kim was supposed to act like he wanted to take me shopping as a way of trying to make it up to me for the last incident which had included the principal.

This time, he was supposed to take me shopping, then he’d try coaxing me to get into a car. I’d refuse, spray pepper in his eyes, then run back into the mall and escape from there. We decided on this plan because the people who sent Kim on this mission are gonna definitely check the cctv to see what actually went down.

Blaze would be waiting for me in one of the restrooms, so after I run in there, since there are no cameras in there, he’d teleport me away from there.

Simple as that.

Although even though it sounded easy, I knew it wasn’t gonna be like that once being carried out.

I was still deep in thought when a hand settled at the back of my neck and gently massaged and squeezed the area, making tingly sparks start to go off in my head.

"You alright?" Blaze asked when I peered at him and I nodded in response.

"I’m just nervous. I’m scared I’d fuck this up one way or the other." I admitted, which was the truth. I’ve never been one to properly function under pressure, and I’ve been a fuck up since I could remember. I just pray that I don’t end up messing something up, because if I do, I’d end up putting myself in immense danger.

"Don’t be, okay? You’re not gonna fuck this up, so don’t think about it too much." His grip around the back of my throat tightened even more for a fleeting moment and I let out a low breath while my eyes fluttered a little.

"Okay." I whispered once I could speak, and when I peeked at Kim, I found him staring at me with an unreadable expression, one which made my cheeks grow hot.

"You have everything under control on your part, right?" Blaze asked Kim who nodded once again.

"Down to the things I’d pick out for him at the mall, and the rows we’re gonna walk through. I didn’t sleep throughout the night because of it. I’m hoping this plan works out, so I can finally be free of this agreement." He breathed out and Blaze chuckled.

"What agreement? This one measly job isn’t gonna get you off the hook, you fool. You’re gonna be working on protecting Jules until whenever I deem enough."

Kim slowly nodded. "Oh. I forgot about that. I was also referring to the higher ups. I’m hoping they’d not task me with capturing or luring him again after this particular plan fails."

"Do you know that they’re more likely to kill you after this job fails than to just let you go after you fail the job? This is gonna be your second time failing at providing them Jules like they requested after all." Blaze breathed out and my eyes widened because I had never actually looked at it from that anger.

Meanwhile, Kim almost tripped on thin air.

"Really?" He questioned urgently, eyes wide and filled with worry but Blaze waved him off.

"Don’t ask me dumb questions. If you decide to betray me because of what I just told you, that’s completely on you, because you know at the end of the day, I’d still get to save Jules, but then I’d make you suffer so much before I kill you. So, I guess you have to decide on who you want to be killed by. Them or me?"

Kim inched backwards, shaking his head. "This is insane. You’re insane."

Blaze snorted, eyes gleaming. "Perhaps I am. What about it?

At the mall, it was extremely tense between Kim and I. Not just because of the danger looming ahead, but also because of the last conversation Blaze and Kim had before we exited the dorm together.

I walked stiffly beside him, it was completely silent between us, and I didn’t know how to break the silence. I was okay with the silence, it was leaving me with more than enough avenue to start overthinking again. But i was a little worried that it was gonna be obvious in the cameras that we’re flowing well like we’re supposed to if we really want this plan to be believable.

"So... are we gonna remain silent throughout this shopping spree?" I ended up asking after clearing my throat.

Kim stared at me and let out a sound that resembled a scoff mixed with a chuckle.

"Oh wait, you expect me to be all bubbly with you when I might lose my life tonight no matter what choice I make?" He asked and I bit on my bottom lip, unsure of what to say.

"This is all your fault, you’re the reason why I’m in this situation. I literally don’t know what I’m gonna do." He continued as he pushed his hair out of his face.

I exhaled slowly and stopped moving.

"Can you stop blaming me for this? You’re the reason you’re in this situation." I blurted out. He was always blaming me like I was the one who forced him to work with the principal.

Kim let out a scoff. "You only have the audacity to stand in my presence and talk to me like this because of Blaze."

"I guess that’s a good thing, no?" I hurled back before I could stop myself and he physically reared back in disbelief. I was also surprised by myself because I’ve never acted that cocky in my entire life.

He stepped forward and draped his arm across my shoulders.

"You know what? Fuck Blaze, and fuck you. I’m gonna stick to the orders of the higher ups and I’ll hand you off to them like I promised them I would."

I rolled my eyes, already fed up with his pissy attitude. "But you aren’t gonna do this. You’re just bluffing."

"You think so?" He asked and I nodded as I shrugged his hand off my shoulders.

"Yeah, because Blaze is gonna kill you if you do that."

"That’s what he believes." Kim huffed out while snickering and I blinked slowly, unsure if I hadn’t already walked right into a trap.
