Chapter 136: Telling Taylor Off
Chapter 136: Telling Taylor Off
When I glanced back at Taylor, he had a scowl across his face.
He took a step backwards before throwing his hands in the air and starting to speak.
"Well, I can’t overlook your foolishness, Jules. Nor can I respect your decision. I refuse to do that, knowing fully well that you’re only putting yourself in danger." He blurted out, eyes angry as he spoke and I began to massage my forehead in the next moment.
I noticed Josh getting to his feet almost immediately just as Taylor continued.
"I refuse to respect your decision. I’d never do it. That’s the last thing I’d ever do!" He continued, sounding extremely worked up and I let out a long sigh as I leveled him with a frustrated look.
"Why are you so against Blaze?" I demanded, watching as Taylor pushed his hair out of his face.
"Why? Can you give me one reason?" I took a step closer to him as I continued to speak. "You’re always so against him. It’s like you have something personal against him or something. I don’t know, but I’m curious. So far, I believe there has got to be an actual reason as to why you hate him so much."
Taylor pursed his lips and folded his arms, and then he averted his gaze from mine, head turned sideways.
I let out a disbelieving scoff and massaged my forehead again.
"I need you to give me a reason, Taylor. There has got to be a reason as to why you’re so against him. So, what is it? Go ahead and say it right now. Let me know what it is." I called out again, watching as he let out a long sigh once again.
"You won’t understand." He finally responded and I let out another disbelieving scoff, unable to believe my ears.
"You can’t be serious, Taylor. You can’t seriously be going down this path after going on and on about how Blaze is oh so bad for me." I snapped out, feeling anger start to curl inside of me.
Taylor shifted a little before walking towards his bed and sitting in it, and then he pushed his hair out of his face.
"You won’t understand, Jules." He repeated the same response and I flared up, throwing my hands in the air.
"You’ve got to be kidding me, Taylor." I hurled out at him and he pursed his lips.
"You’ve got to be kidding me as well, Jules. I’ve always looked out for you since you got here, have I not?" He demanded and I let out a long exhale.
"Yes, you have. I’ve never denied that and I’m always grateful for you because of that. But you also need to start respecting my decisions too. Just because you’ve looked out for me when I just got here doesn’t mean I can’t make decisions on my own or something like that."
He let out a sigh and got to his feet once again.
"You need to trust me on this one, Jules. You just need to." His voice was soft this time, like the tone used on toddlers and that ticked me off at once.
"Well, I can’t if you won’t give me an actual reason to. Okay?" I called out with my hands thrown up again. "If you can’t tell me the reason why you hate blaze this much, then I won’t be able to trust you on this topic, Taylor. Trust doesn’t work like that."
He pursed his lips and folded his arms before starting to speak.
"What do you know about trust? Huh? You know nothing about trust, Jules. If you do, you wouldn’t be willing to trust Blaze over me, someone who was with you since the day you enrolled here."
I reached for the sides of my head and massaged it because it has began to throb again.
"I’m not picking anyone here, Taylor. I’m only choosing to follow my heart here, that’s all." I explained to him, and then I stepped closer to him.
"So, are you gonna tell me why you hate Blaze so much?" I asked after a few seconds. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about that. I wanted to know the answer to that, like my life depends on it.
Taylor pursed his lips again and shook his head firmly.
"Actually, no. I’m not gonna do that because it’s not gonna change your mind. You’re clearly too love sick to see reasons and truths." As soon as he began to speak, so did I let out a long sigh.
"I’m not in love with him, Taylor. I’m not love sick. I know what I’m doing."
"Do you really? You really think you do?" Taylor asked instantly and I hesitated a little at his tone before nodding my head in response.
"You don’t have any idea of what you’re getting yourself into, Jules. And it’s so comical to me because I’m trying to keep you safe and protect you front that but you’re so hellbent on not listening." He continued, eyes filled with emotions I couldn’t decipher.
I let out a frustrated sigh and tried not to scream at him.
"Tell me then. If you’re sure I’m doing something wrong, give me a reason like I’ve been asking. If you don’t want me to get into something wrong then you’re supposed to give me a reason, Taylor."
Taylor shook his head firmly. "Like I said before, you’re gonna have to trust me on this one. That’s it."
I let out a perplexed laugh as I spoke.
"So, if I don’t blindly listen to you and follow your lead, you’d leave me to walk into a danger that you’re aware of but won’t spill?" I asked slowly, still finding it hard to wrap by head around this entire exchange.
Taylor shrugged his shoulders before walking back to the bed to sit on it.
"You’ve asked me to respect your decision. You can either chose to listen to me or not. If you don’t listen to me and chose to follow your heart, be ready to face any repercussions." He spoke and I felt my heart stutter to a stop in my chest.
From the side of my eyes, I watched as Josh stepped around till he was standing before Taylor.
"You can’t be serious, Taylor." He snapped, sounding extremely irritated.
Taylor lifted a hand at him while leveling him with a glare.
"Stay out of this, Josh." He spoke flatly and Josh scoffed before pointing a hand at him.
"You’re sounding like a terrible friend, Taylor. I hope you know that." Josh snapped and Taylor raked his fingers hrough his hair before responding.
"If me looking out for me is being taken as that, then sure." He responded flatly.
"Why don’t you just tell us the reason why you hate Blaze. It’s not supposed to be this hard, Taylor. Now you’re making everything more complicated than it’s supposed to be." Josh continued and Taylor sighed audibly.
"Please stay out of this, Josh. You don’t understand anything."
Josh waved around the room as he responded. "Well, neither does Jules. And that’s why you keep asking you to go ahead and say it but you’re choosing to be unnecessarily difficult about it."
"Stay out of this, Josh." Taylor called out again.
"Actually, I won’t. Jules is my friend as he is yours." Josh responded without hesitation and I felt a rush of emotions through my veins.
"He’s my friend as well." Taylor snapped out in response, jumping to his feet and wearing an outraged expression on.
"Yes, but..." Josh started to speak but I decided to step in again.
"Guys, please. Don’t fight because of me." I called out and they both trailed off while staring at me.
I shoved my hands in my pocket as I began to speak.
"Thank you for seeing reason in everything I’ve said and for respecting my decision, Josh."
Josh shrugged a little. "I mean. I’m still worried about you, but I don’t think your decision is bad or anything. You should just be careful is all." He explained and I nodded at once.
"You’re right. I will be."
I turned towards Taylor after that. "Thank you for looking out for me since the moment we met, and for everything else you’ve done for me. I really appreciate." I took a step closer to him.
"But, I don’t know where this leaves us. It seems like we’re on different sides of a particular situation, and well, it’s extremely significant. If you believe that because I refused to blindly trust you, then
I should go ahead and suffer any repercussions that might come from it, if you really mean that, then I don’t think we should remain friends."
Taylor blinked slowly like he couldn’t believe his ears. I couldn’t believe my ears either. That’s something I’ve never said to anyone in my entire life before, but it felt like the only logical thing to say in this particular situations.
"What?" Taylor finally breathed out while still staring at me. I shrugged a little and took a step backward.
"It’s the truth, Taylor. Since you’ve refused to tell me what you know, even though that could help me make better decisions, just because didn’t blindly listen to you, then what’s the point of us being friends?"
Taylor stared at me for a moment longer and then he shook his head and laughed a little.
"You’re actually being serious?"
