Chapter 102: Raven
Jules’ pov
Andrian’s witch friend arrived about three minutes ago.
Her name was Raven, and she was as bubbly as she was gorgeous. She was clad in black, with dark makeup and a goth aesthetics.
"This is him, right?" She asked Andrian without bothering to speak to me directly at first and after Andrian confirmed that it was indeed I, she came to stand before me and ruffle my hair.
"Don’t touch him, Raven. Personal space, remember?" Andrian called out and reven pulled away, an apologetic look across her face as she shrugged and chuckled softly.
"I completely forgot about that, I got carried away because of how good he looks. He’s like... really, really pretty, it’s actually insane when you think about it." She exclaimed I and chuckled awkwardly, unsure of what to say in response.
She didn’t give me a chance to before she was tugging me out of the couch and leading me to the other side of the office which was spacious.
"Personal space." Andrian reminded her as he stopped beside her while holding the book in his hand.
"Oh, right. My bad." She mumbled before chucking wryly and dropping my hand.
"It’s alright." I breathed out and she flashed me a bright smile before sinking to the ground in a folded position, book placed on the ground before her.
She peered up at me and pointed at the spot in front of the book, urging me to take a seat there and I tentatively sank down there.
I was beyond nervous. My nerves were all over the place and it was hard for me to sit still, but I tried to do just that.
I was yet to fully digest the entire conversation I had with Andrian about blaze and his father. It left me feeling extremely uneasy and I didn’t know what to think anymore.
I had been quite certain that Blaze hated his father. He never told me that but it was easy to figure that out from the little I’ve been able to gather on him.
Andrian believes Blaze might be working for his father. He informed me he looked into blade and that he has a very disturbing record and he was convinced Blaze wouldn’t spare me a second of his time without having an ulterior motive. He believed Blaze was only entertaining me and making me drop all my guards around him because of something else.
He was right about one thing, about the fact that Blaze normally wouldn’t spare me a second of his time. Taylor mentioned the exact same thing to me as well in the past, and I believed everyone in the school shared the same thought.
But, I still refused to believe he had an ulterior motive. Blaze didn’t even strike me as someone who gets interested by something a lot.
The amount of times he saved me didn’t seem like an ulterior motive to me, and I made sure to tell Andrian this. But then he asked me if I wasn’t sure those saves wernt planned out so that I could start seeing him as a savior and develop a savior complex centered around him. When he had been saying those words, my mind went back to the time we were in the car this morning and he had informed me he liked protecting me.
My head was starting to hurt from the amount of thoughts currently running through it and then I was pulled out of my thoughts by Raven calling my name.
I blinked a couple of times and cleared my throat, and then I noticed that Andrian was seated at my right side this time.
"You ready?" She inquired, eyes trained on me and I nodded and exhaled sharply.
"Yeah, I am." I responded quietly and she flashed me a warm grin before focusing on the book and holding a hand out above it.
I watched closely, noticing the moment her hand began to glow a pretty shade of pink. She moved her hand in a circular motion over the top of the book, and pink vertical lines began to show up on the blank, dark cover before it finally flew open, followed by a bunch of pages. It was like a gust of wind blew at it and pushed it open just now.
Raven had a pleased grin on her face as she glanced between Andrian and I.
My mouth remained parted for a few seconds before it finally snapped closer. I was extremely hypnotized by the use of her magic, it reminded me of my own magic which I didn’t have access to any longer and that weighed heavily in my chest now that I was thinking about it.
Watching her use her powers like that reminded me of the thousands of magic users whose life got taken on that dark, unfortunate night.
Andrian nudged my shoulder a little. "You okay, Buddy?" He inquired and I nodded my head slowly and cleared my throat.
"I am."
I turned back to Raven who was reading through the book, a fascinated expression across her face.
"Can we start now?"
"Of course. I just need to be sure of what I’m working with." She announced before finally stopping at a page. I peered at the page but couldn’t understand most of the writing.
She held her two hands out and I tentatively slipped my hands into hers.
"Such cute hands." She cooed and I blushed a little just as Andrian reminded her to focus.
"A quick heads-up: this might not work out, it depends on how strong the person who locked it was, and what spell they used." She explained and I nodded slowly, breath bated in nervousness and excitement.
"Close your eyes please." She called out and I did just that, and then she began to hum a tune which I didn’t understand or recognize, but I tried to open my heart like I was taught to, in order to let the tune ease into my heart— the spot where my magic once used to recide in.
