Chapter 101: Disbelief
Jules’ pov
My mouth dropped open in shock. I tried to speak a couple of times but nothing came forth.
"What?" I whispered, suddenly feeling chills run down my spine and every inch of my body.
Andrian retrieved the laptop from me because my hands began to shake, and then he took the spot beside me on the couch.
I tried to beeathe but it was suddenly way too hard for me to do that, along with the fact that my lungs suddenly felt too tight.
"Breathe." Andrian murmured beside me, his voice echoing around in the insides my head just as I felt his hand start to gently pat my back.
After a little while, my eyesight wasn’t blurry any more and it didn’t feel like my head was underwater. I was able to breathe once again but my chest was hurting a little this time.
I carefully turned around in my seat and gripped Andrian’s wrist, voice breaking as I spoke.
"Blaze’s f- father? He knows who I- I am??!!" I whispered frantically and Andrian shook his head firmly before shrugging my hands off his wrist and firmly gripping my shoulders instead.
"Get yourself together, labyrinth." He called out firmly and I sucked in a deep breath and puffed it out slowly, just as tears gathered in my eyes.
It’s been ages since I’ve been called my actual name.
Somehow, I had gotten so used to identifying as Jules that I almost forgot that it was nothing but a fake identity.
I sucked in another deep breath before slowly nodding my head. After a few moments, it felt like I had my snot home under control again.
"He dosent know who you are, no one does, so relax, okay?" He finally continued and I let out a long breath before pointing at the laptop.
"But you said–"
He shook his head firmly before continuing to speak.
"I know what I said, and I’m very certain that he still doesn’t know it’s you. He doesn’t know that you’re labyrinth, no one does." He explained but I couldn’t bring myself to calm down, because none of this was adding up.
If he doesn’t know that I’m labyrinth, why then did he order for that news to be published here in New York? Especially just after he and a bunch of other people asked the principal to bring me to them.
I tried not to tremble in my seat, but it was impossible not to when my entire mind was being plagued with a bunch of horrifying scenarios at the same time.
"None of this makes sense." I finally breathed out, heart racing so fast, it felt like I’d throw up the breakfast I had about an hour ago.
Andrian snapped his laptop close and placed it beside him before speaking.
"It really doesn’t. It’s what I’ve been trying to figure out. It might end up being a coincidence and nothing more."
I blinked in confusion. "A coincidence... how?"
"It might be a coincidence that you ended up being labyrinth. Perhaps he wanted you to get captured to him as Jules just to do disturbing things to your body." He spoke bluntly and I bit at the inside of my cheek as he continued.
"And perhaps he only had a hand in the publishing of this news in this country probably because he wanted to help some people directly involved in the mass murder of your entire clan in order to get a favor in return or something. It could be something like this and nothing more. A pure coincidence." He explained and I breathed out a slow sigh and leaned against the backrest of the couch I was currently sitting in.
"Oh." I breathed out and he nodded his head before rising to his feet.
"It still feels weird and suspicious though." I mumbled after a few moments and he nodded once again.
"Of course it is, which is why you need to be extra careful. It’s why you can’t reveal your actual identity to his son, you need to keep your identity a secret at all costs." He explained and i bit on my bottom lip, having completely nothing to respond with.
"I don’t know..." I ended up breathing out and Andrian blinked down at me a few times.
"So you really trust him? For you to still be contemplating this." He asked and I shrugged a little before slowly nodding.
Andrian regarded me like I was dumb and ridiculous, and perhaps I am.
But I do trust him. I still do.
"He might be working with his father." He announced and I let my eyes fall close for a few moments. I tried to look at this entire situation from Andrian’s perspective and in a way, I understood him.
But from my own perspective, after all that Blaze had done for me, I didn’t even need to think twice if he was working with his father. I was certain that he wasn’t.
"He’s not, I believe he hates his father." I finally breathed out and Andrian took the spot beside me once again. He held my shoulders as he began to speak this time.
"Labyrinth... don’t throw all of this away. Everything which we’ve worked towards, don’t throw it away because of this little crush–"
I shook my head and cut into him. "I- it’s not a crush though, I think we’re really fated mates."
"You can’t be certain until you get a confirmation which usually comes in the form of a dream. For now, it seems just like a crush, and it’s very irrational and irresponsible for you to chose to reveal your true identity to him when he could easily hand you off to his father if his father asked him to."
I felt my heartbeat flatter a little as his words poured into my head.
I swallowed emptily and blinked a couple of times.
"He wouldn’t... he wouldn’t do that, would he?" I whispered and this time, Andrian shrugged.
"I genuinely can’t say, but one thing I’m very sure of is that his father always gets whatever he wants no matter what. I doubt his son would ever contemplate refusing an order from his father."
