Chapter 103: Can’t Feel My Magic

Jules’ pov

It felt like my body was burning up from the inside.

The more raven hummed, the more it felt like the sound was increasing inside of me, heightening inside my ears and chest until that was all I could hear and focus on.

In no time, I felt my hands start to tremble in raven’s hands. Panic gripped my heart and I tried to let myself relax and also made sure to not open my eyes because I knew that was only gonna ruin the connection Raven had with me right now.

’Deep breaths, Labyrinth’

I told myself over and over again ss the humming tune increased inside of me even more.

I could feel Raven’s magic. It was almost featherlight but I still felt it move through my veins, heading for the spot in the middle of my chest.

I let myself relax even more so she’d not meet any resistance from me.

It’s been ages since I felt any sort of magic moving through my insides. The feeling of raven’s energy flowing through me brought back a bunch of memories for me, one which brought so much pain to my heart.

When I felt Raven’s magic nudge the empty spot in my heart, I let myself stop thinking about any other thing apart from what she was currently doing to me.

In the next moment, I felt a sharp jolt of white light flash through my inside, the burning sensation increased an insane notch.

The sound of raven crying out sharply and tugging her hand from mine brought me back to the present,

As soon as my eyes open, it widened in horror because as soon as I glanced down, I understood why she had cried out and why tears were currently running down her face.

Her hands had gotten scalded.

The smell of something burning hit me at the same time and I let out a loud gasp of disbelief, eyes widening even more and mouth hanging open as I regarded her. She held her hands to her chest, her eyes equally wide and her lips wobbling when she attempted to speak.

I shuffled forward and tried to take a look at her hand but her eyes widened in horror before she horridly jerk away, holding a hand in front of herself.

"Stay away from me!" She cried out frantically just as Andrian rushed to his feet and walked away, probably to go grab a first aid box.

I swallowed emptily, unsure of what to think of saying in a situation like this.

"I’m so sorry." I whispered quietly while feeling guilt eat at every inch of my insides.

I wasn’t sure of what actually happened or how it went wrong, but it was obvious that I was the cause of what had just happened to her hands and that left a sinking feeling in my stomach.

Her gaze was no longer soft when she stared at me, nor was she still in a bubbly mood. Instead, her eyes were filled with fear and confusion as she stared at me wearily before holding a hand in front of me again.

"Just stay away from me. P- please." Her voice cracked at the end of her sentence and it filled me with so much distress that I got consumed with the urge to start crying the next moment.

I never dreamt that I’d ever be in this situation in my entire life, that someone would one day regard me with fright in their eyes like this.

As I watched Andrian return with a box and crouched beside her, I briefly wondered why this was currently happening.

"You okay?" Andrian asked as he cleaned her hands. Her entire palm was so red, it left me feeling more worried and guilty, especially because nothing happened to my own hands, not even a scratch.

"No, I’m not! Who is he?" She snapped in response, sharp gaze darting towards me for a moment and I quickly averted my gaze.

Andrian sighed as he wrapped her hands up in bandages before responding. "He’s a family friend. What went wrong? Why didn’t his magic get unsealed?"

Raven remained silent after the question, staring straigh ahead. After some time, she glanced down at her hands her hands and let out a humorless chuckle.

"I can’t feel my magic." She finally blurted out and I flinched in horror.

"You can’t?" Andrian echoed slowly and she nodded almost reluctantly.

"Most of it. I’m hoping it will return after I get some rest." She continued and I let out a relieved sigh.

"That’s great then. Sorry this happened." Andrian waved at her hands as he spoke and she abruptly rose to her feet after that.

She headed for her bag while andrian and I exchanged a glance.

"So, why didn’t his magic get unsealed? Any reason why?" Andrian walked towards her as he asked the question once again.

"Who locked his magic?" She demanded and I sucked in a sharp breath.

Andrian hesitated.

"His magic is sealed up with a gate no one can go through. Not even the greatest warlock out there can. A force was forged outside the gate to drain the magic of anyone who attempted to unseal what lay at the other side of the gate... which I assume is his magic. Of course, I didn’t know of that until I felt my powers start to slowly drain from me. If I knew from the onset, I wouldn’t have agreed to this!" She spat out angrily and my mouth fell open in disbelief as I listened to her go off.

"To be Frank, I didn’t believe what I felt at the entrance of his magic core at first. The technique used in sealing up his magic was a spell which is only rumored to exist. No one knows how to actually cast that spell, which was why I kept asking who it was that sealed up his magic."

She turned towards me this time. "Also, why would someone like that seal your magic? There had to be a reason behind it. It’s clear that the person who sealed it wanted it to remain that way forever because I don’t think there’s anyone out there who can unseal it."
