Chapter 375: -Chapter 375-
"I wanted to change the sheets on your bed," Davian let him know, giving up on the on making the bed even as he did. "Are you hungry?"
"Aren’t you going to finish making the bed?" Lake asked curiously. "I’ll watch you."
Davian had no arguments with that arrangement, he could spend the entire day making all the beds in the mansion if Lake agreed to watch him the entire time.
He got the Omega comfortable on a sofa in a corner of the bedroom, and got back to work. Making beds was easy, once you got the basics down, it was all repetitive motions.
Lake curled up comfortably on the sofa, Davian had dressed him up in cozy pajamas, the Alpha also wore sleepwear, but just the bottom half.
Having someone else make his bed was a surreal experience, one that was made more vivid by Mafia King Davian being the one to do it.
Lake was still drained from last night and this morning, his body felt limber, and with the warm sunlight and the scent of dark chocolate in his honey-themed room, it wasn’t a surprise that he dozed off again while watching Davian make the bed.
Davian glanced over his shoulder when he was done, tossing a black pillow at the head of bed. His smile was wide as he saw Lake nodding off, the Omega curled up on himself.
His initial plan was to change the sheets and then make breakfast while Lake was asleep so he could bring him breakfast in bed, but that had changed, he didn’t want Lake waking up when he was gone again.
So he picked him up from the sofa and grabbed a pillow on his way out, not surprised that Lake didn’t rouse once on their way to the kitchen. He only woke up from his doze when Davian placed him down at the counter.
The pillow was for his comfort, to protect him from the cold and hard surface of the counter.
Davian gave in to the urge to push Lake’s hair out of his face, pressing a kiss into the dark brown locks that smelled of lemon.
He walked off after to put an apron on to get to work. He could easily order in and get to cuddle a sleepy Lake, but he was too antsy to sit still. Cooking breakfast that morning meant everything to him, he wouldn’t pass it up for the world.
Lake stared at Davian’s retreating back, the hawk on his back felt familiar now, those obsidian eyes softer.
His eyes felt heavy, he didn’t fall asleep again but he didn’t keep his eyes open either, lightly dreaming as the scent of cooking filled the bright kitchen.
The pillow he clutched was discarded to the side when breakfast was ready, Davian taking off his apron as he sat at the counter.
Lake trailed his sleepy gaze down the Alpha’s powerful upper body, approving of the marks he left behind, he didn’t want them to fade.
After eating breakfast, he had more strength so he stood behind Davian while the Alpha did the dishes. It was the first time he had taken the initiative to do this but it felt natural.
Lake wrapped his arms around Davian’s middle, resting his head against his back as the Alpha busied himself with the dishes.
"Are you fine with standing?" Davian asked after a while, his worries ever-present.
"Yeah," Lake sighed, "After this, we can spend the rest of the day in bed."
Davian didn’t respond to that, but he didn’t have to, not when Lake had said his thoughts out loud.

Caspian woke up to strands of his husband’s hair in his mouth, he grabbed a fistful of the offending locks which elicited a cursed groan from the sleeping Alpha.
Asher just captured his wrists and pinned his arms to the side, tucking his face in the curve of Caspian’s neck and going right back to sleep.
This meant that there was more of Asher’s hair all over his face, the Alpha’s weight pressing him down to the bed.
He was going to chop all his hair off, and he would make sure to leave bald patches.
Asher had truly gone right back to sleep, and there was no getting out from under him so Caspian gave up. His eyes slowly slipped close, Asher’s warm weight was comforting, the Alpha’s smoky scent making him drowsy.
Caspian’s eyes flew open before he could fully fall asleep, remembering that there was something he needed to do. It was already late in the morning, he and Asher had slept in, and his mate didn’t look like he was eager to get out of bed anytime soon.
He also wasn’t planning on getting out of bed, he just needed to make a quick call. "Asher? Baby? Get off, your hair is in my mouth." He complained pettishly.
Asher rolled over but the Alpha took him with him, he made a small sound of surprise at it, but it brought him close to the bedside table where his phone was lying beneath a pile of jewelry.
Caspian ignored the black lace glove hanging off the edge of the table and reached for his phone. He had to stretch because Asher had a firm grip around his waist and the Alpha wasn’t letting go.
He rang up Lake when he got his phone, keeping his worries at bay as he waited for Lake to pick up.
He did get an answer but not from the person he had been expecting it from. Davian picked instead, the Alpha’s voice low and quiet.
"Where’s Lake?" Caspian immediately asked, keeping his voice down as well because Asher was still somehow fast asleep.
"Sleeping," Davian replied shortly.
"Jael told me you both had to leave early last night," Caspian brought up, still worried about what could have caused that. "Is he alright?"
"He is. Do you want to come over for dinner to see him?" Davian asked, already knowing Caspian’s answer.
"Yes please, can I bring my husband?" He made sure to ask, knowing that Asher wouldn’t like being left out.
"Sure."
Davian hung up then, and Caspian expected it so he just tossed his phone to the other end of the bed and snuggled into his mate’s arms.
He was half-lying on Asher and although there were far more comfortable positions, he had no complaints. Asher’s hair was no longer in his mouth, and his mate was so warm...

Lake woke up to Davian staring at him, most of the haze he had been in in the morning had worn off, and he felt a little self-conscious about how clingy he had been.
"You didn’t have to watch me sleep," He murmured, rolling over to his stomach to get closer to him.
Davian looked away from Lake’s middle, he had been focused on staring at the Omega’s belly. "I wanted to."
Lake didn’t push it, he was learning to be greedy, he would take whatever Davian gave him and ask for more. "Will you cook lunch?"
By the time he asked time, he had already rolled right into Davian’s arms, a healthy glow on his face as he looked up at the Alpha. There was still some time before lunch but Lake didn’t want to order in, and that was why he asked.
"Yes. Can I brush your hair?" Davian asked in turn, taking a page out of Lake’s book.
What he truly wanted to ask was if he could touch the Omega’s tummy. It had been a growing ache that only worsened as the days passed.
"Yes, thank you," Lake answered with a stretch, closing his eyes as he did.
Davian was out of the bed in a heartbeat to grab a hairbrush, asking for what he really wanted could have also gone as easily as this, but some things were easier to do than others.
Lake sat up when Davian returned, the Alpha settling down behind him. The windows were open and the blinds were drawn, making his bedroom glow.
His soft gold pajamas were sleep-rumpled and slipping down a shoulder, Davian’s hands gentle in his hair.
Lake couldn’t help yawning as Davian slowly ran a brush through his hair, fighting the urge to flop against the Alpha, his shoulders slouched.
After brushing his hair until it shone, Davian spent more time fiddling with his hair, and Lake allowed it, letting the Alpha do whatever he wanted.
After he was done, Lake looked over his shoulder, his eyes tearing up from yawning constantly. "Davian, I’m hungry."
Davian stared at him like he had been hypnotized, admiring his hard work on Lake’s hair. If he kept this up, he would be ready to effortlessly handle their daughter’s hair.
"Davian?" Lake repeated, pouting now.
That snapped Davian out of it, "What do you want to eat?" He asked casually like his brain hadn’t just flatlined in the middle of their conversation.
"Chocolate," Lake replied quickly, yawning again.
Davian helped him off the bed, picking him up although he didn’t need to. "That’s not food."
"Make it food." Lake countered shamelessly.
Davian didn’t argue further, his smile softening his gray eyes.
