Lake didn’t change out of his pajamas all day, long past the point of feeling self-conscious in front of Caspian. So he remained in the sleepwear even during dinner.

The atmosphere at the dinner was familiar, having dinner together was no longer a novelty.

"We should have dinner at our place next time," Caspian was saying as Lake walked with him down the main stairs. "That reminds me, I was thinking of going camping."

Lake turned to his friend with a concerned expression, Caspian always seemed to come up with the most random ideas. "Camping?"

"Yes!" Caspian beamed, they were at the door now but they weren’t done talking, leaving Asher standing idly outside. "I’ll make all the arrangements, you don’t have to worry about that. I’ll call to figure out your schedule when it’s all ready!" The grinning Omega said to him as he made his way down the stairs.

Lake leaned against the door frame with a smile, going camping sounded like self-torture but he would do it if Caspian asked. "Fine."

After Asher and Caspian had driven out the gates, Lake made his way back to the kitchen alone. He had left Davian all alone in there, the Alpha doing the dishes.

Lake went right to him like they were opposite ends of a magnet, sticking to the Alpha like he did after breakfast and lunch.

He had planned to have a conversation with Davian today but the right time never came. Their relationship improving also made having the conversation less urgent.

After dinner, there was nothing left to be done. The next day was the start of a busy week but tonight he could snuggle up to Davian’s side while watching videos on his phone.

Lake quickly got bored of that and looked up at Davian who was contentedly lying beside him and crooked a finger at the Alpha. "Come here."

Davian came easily, in a good mood all day. He dipped his head when Lake cupped his face, meeting him halfway for a kiss.

Lake already missed how they spent their Sunday when they had to be out of the mansion early in the morning.

The skies were gloomy and it looked like it would rain soon but he had a long list of appointments he had to attend to, so he grudgingly got into the passenger’s seat with Davian’s help and buckled up.

"Want to sneak home to cook lunch?" Davian asked as he got in the driver’s seat, picking up on Lake’s unhappiness.

Lake’s eyes sparkled at that, "Yes!"

He had just eaten breakfast but now he was looking forward to lunch.

Rosie was at the lobby to receive them, the secretary was bright-eyed as usual, her pad in hand as she filled Lake in on the essentials.

"One of the secretaries, Sharon, had to take a sick leave..." She let Lake know, doing a double take at how close the boss and her Mafia King stood.

Rosie decided to pretend not to see it, it wasn’t interfering with her job after all. Unlike what most people thought, after spending quite some time around Lake, she knew his relationship with Davian wasn’t as intimate as everyone painted it out to be... but it looked like that had changed now.

"...Jennie can handle her workload for a while but I might have to scout for a replacement." She went on.

Lake frowned, "And when Sharon returns?"

"We could use an extra secretary," Rosie said with a small smile, stepping out of the elevator first. "You’ve got an in-person meeting after lunch..."

Lake made a face, "I’m guessing it’s not in FluxCorp."

"Nope," Rosie’s smile broadened, she had gotten more familiar with Lake as the weeks went by. "There’s also a conference mid-week that’s happening out of the city."

Davian’s gray eyes frosted over, he rarely ever butted into Lake’s job but he wasn’t going to let this slide. "I’ll go in Lake’s place."

Lake was pleasantly surprised by this, clinging to Davian’s arm. "Why don’t we go together?"

Davian leaned closer to him to speak quietly, "It might not be safe. Let’s talk about this during lunch."

Lake didn’t push, he no longer felt like he had something to prove so it was easy to accept Davian’s concern. "Alright..."

They had gotten to the office at that point, and after settling into the massive executive chair, another hectic day began for Lake.

Rosie was extremely versatile, she not only effortlessly managed Lake’s schedule and supervised the other secretaries, she was also in charge of snacks.

Lake’s appetite had steadily increased recently, even after greedily eating Davian’s cooking, he had finally cracked and brought snacks into the office.

If the clients he was dealing with had any opinions on that, they wisely kept a lid on it with Davian looming intimidatingly behind him.

At lunch, they snuck out of the company to cook lunch back at the mansion. Rosie had strolled into the office, about to offer to grab lunch for them because Lake had a pile of reports he still needed to go through, only to find it empty.

She dashed to a window overlooking the parking lot in time to catch Lake ducking into a car with the happiest smile she had ever seen on the Omega’s face.

She just sighed and held her head, she should have anticipated this outcome. The reports would just have to wait.

Lake was all smiles as they got back to the mansion, sipping on the peach lemonade Rosie had gotten for him.

"Will you be fine going for the conference all alone?" Lake asked in concern.

Davian chose not to point out that this used to be his job, basking in the attention. "I’ll manage."

"Is it really that dangerous for me to come along?" Lake pushed, this had nothing to do with wanting to attend the conference.

The conference would last for five days, and Davian wouldn’t be back till the end of the week or the start of the next, that was the reason why he had a hard time accepting it.
