Chapter 327: -Chapter 327-
Lake took Davian’s offered hand without thinking, still frowning. He had planned to get a report from Rosie after the meeting with Doctor Perez so he could plan the schedule after the festival in better detail.
But there was no chance to do that, Davian coercing him to his bed.
Lake looked up at him with heavy eyes as he took off his hairband and pushed his hair out of his face.
"Call me if you need anything," Davian said quietly, leaving his hand in Lake’s hair.
The Omega swiftly fell asleep, leaving Davian all alone. He took his hand away so he wouldn’t disrupt Lake’s sleep, standing listlessly at the edge of the bed.
Now that Lake was fast asleep, he was fresh out of things to do. It was still too early to get started on lunch, and he didn’t exactly have duties to attend to.
Davian was stumped, sitting here watching Lake sleep didn’t seem like a bad idea, but that couldn’t be comfortable for Lake.
What were the things he liked to do before he became a Mafia King?
A bulb went off in his head, there was a home gym on the ground floor.
He hadn’t been inside of it in years, not since the duties of a Mafia King were thrust on his shoulders after his parents died.
Davian’s legs carried him down the stairs before his thoughts caught up with his actions. He hadn’t even had the time to think about working out, much less follow through with the thought.
But now, short of being a nuisance to a sleeping Lake, there was practically nothing else he had going for him.
The gym was still in perfect shape, the state-of-the-art equipment all properly cared for, a few might have even been changed, because it really had been so long.
Davian walked around, familiarizing himself with the space once again. After that was done, he put some thumping beats on the stereo and started warming up.
It used to be easy to lose himself in the exercises, his thoughts going blank as he exerted his muscles, and old habits died hard because he stayed in there until his phone rang.
Davian put down the weights and wiped his face with the towel slung around his neck, a frown on his face as he went for his phone. Who would be calling hi...
"Where are you?" Lake’s frazzled voice came through the phone after he hastily picked.
After rerouting all of his business calls, of course, there would be one person who would call, and Lake sounded really worried.
"At the gym," He replied mechanically, "Were you looking for me? I’m downstairs."
There was the very clear sound of footsteps after he spoke, "I’m coming down..."
Lake had woken up with a smile, there was still some time before the festival so he wanted to drop in at the study, but first, he needed to find Davian.
The Alpha wasn’t in his room, and he wasn’t in the kitchen either, the study wasn’t even an option.
Not finding Davian anywhere caused Lake a strange kind of panic. The Alpha was a grown man, and also a Mafia King, he could wherever he wanted.
He had been so unsettled that he started going room by room looking for him, right before remembering that a phone call would be much faster.
The gym...Lake knew where it was from working at the mansion for so many years but he could count the amount of times he had been inside of it.
It was more or less sealed off, and he didn’t bother to figure out why, guessing that it was just an expensive addition to the house that no one used, like most rooms in the mansion.
Davian was standing in the hallway when he got to where the gym was, the Alpha looking like he would have liked to come meet him instead.
His expression brightened at the sight of him, closing the distance between them. "How did you sleep?"
Lake forgot all about his panic at the sight of Davian, staring transfixed at the drop of sweat that fell off Davian’s jaw, right past his collarbones, and disappeared into his shirt.
"Are you alright?" Davian’s concerned voice interrupted his swooning.
"Y-Yes," He answered a little too quickly, needing to take a step back, "I didn’t know you used the gym," He changed the conversation without tact.
Davian didn’t seem to notice, "I haven’t been in there in six years but now I’ve got some free time."
Listening to Davian talk about his hobbies was the perfect distraction from his straying thoughts.
"Will you cook lunch?" It was already lunchtime though, so there was no time but he asked anyway.
Realization clicked behind Davian’s gray eyes, he hadn’t noticed how much time had passed.
"Go take a shower, I’ll order in." Lake spoke without waiting for a response, watching Davian walk past him while stretching.
Lake made his way to the gym, turning off the music before leaving again.
Lunch was brief, Lake getting to speak to Rosie, albeit shortly. Then it was time to get ready for the festival.
Lake had never gotten the chance to go to an important event before, or an event of any sort really.
He put his outfit on and sat in front of the dresser, wondering what else to do after brushing his hair. He didn’t exactly have any jewelry...
There was a knock on his door then, Davian coming into his room.
Lake bit the inside of his mouth to stop himself from staring at Davian like he was prone to do recently. It didn’t help that the Alpha noticed each time and was worried about him.
He remembered now why he agreed to wear such an unconventional outfit, Davian looked like a model in the outfit they had picked out.
"Need something?" He asked as Davian approached.
"Not really," The Alpha replied, producing a black and gold box from behind him. "I got you these, I wasn’t sure what you liked."
