Chapter 317: -Chapter 317-
Lake did get his hot chocolate, joining Davian at the Alpha’s study after they had dinner so they could straighten some more files out and reroute the calls to the newly hired secretaries.
Lake headed straight for the bathroom as soon as he got to his room, he had such a fulfilling day, and it was all thanks to Davian.
He stepped out of the bathroom in a robe to find Davian standing right at the connecting door, making him raise a brow.
"I wanted to say goodnight," He murmured, reluctantly taking a step back.
"Are you going to come to my room tonight?" Lake asked before he could leave.
Davian avoided his eyes, his sheepish expression a clear answer to his question.
"Then you might as well just come right now," Lake said with laughter in his voice, picking up a pillow.
He didn’t like Davian sleeping on the ground till he noticed him, no matter how comfortable Caspian claimed the carpeting to be.
Davian was gone in a flash when he said that, the Alpha showing up once more with another pillow.
At this rate, all of the pillows would end up in Lake’s room, but he didn’t mind it, plus Davian stayed on his side of the bed.
He was already on the bed when Davian showed up, the Alpha’s scent was a very welcome addition to his nights.
"Good night, Davian," He muttered, already half asleep before the Alpha even got comfortable on the bed.
"Good night," Davian said in response, lying on his back to stare at the ceiling.
He dimmed the lights, and let his eyes slip shut, listening closely to Lake’s deepening breathing.
He matched his breathing with the Omega’s and in a short time he was also fast asleep.
Davian’s internal clock woke him up at the crack of dawn, and he couldn’t say if he hated it or not.
Because he would give a lot for Lake to wake up first, and he couldn’t pretend to be asleep, not in this position.
Not while Lake was half-lying on him, the Omega clinging to him. Lake’s fluffy hair covered his neck, the scent of citrus surrounding him.
He hadn’t changed out of his bathrobe before bed so a bare slender leg was thrown across him, the blissfully asleep Omega unaware of his plight.
Davian liked that he got to see this view every morning when he woke up, but at the same time, it meant he had to cut the moment short and get up.
Usually, he got up to deal with the paperwork, but he quickly remembered that he didn’t have to do that anymore.
So he had some time today to revel in the gentle weight of Lake’s body on him, and his honeyed citrus scent.
Maybe he would have enough time to cook breakfast again today. He was torn, choosing between getting up early to get started or staying in bed for a while longer.
In his indecision, he was alerted to Lake slowly lifting his head, his eyes widening when he stared directly into his soft brown eyes, tousled brown hair a halo around his face.
"Good morning," Davian said, at a loss for what to say. Lake was usually not up this early. "You’re up early."
Lake got off him and sat up, stretching. "I’m usually up early, the past couple of days have been outliers."
Davian didn’t like the sound of that, Lake should be asleep till the sun came up. "You can sleep some more if you like."
"Are you going to make breakfast?" Lake asked instead, ignoring his offer of more sleep.
Honestly, he would probably have slept in like he had after moving in with Davian again today, but the excitement of having a new job had woken him up early.
"I was thinking about it," He admitted reluctantly, "But you don’t need to help me."
"I wasn’t about to," Lake muttered, really thinking about just going back to sleep. He doubted that the secretaries would have clocked in so early.
They had come to the decision yesterday after dinner that they would just have their physical offices at FluxCorp, as that was Davian’s favorite company to be at.
For now, they would just be busy going through the backlog of files and calls so that they could start with a new leaf.
Lake really didn’t have to do anything until after the festival but he had been so excited at the new things he would get to do that it had woken him up.
"Maybe I should go back to sleep." He sighed, laying back down.
Davian got up with a look of satisfaction on his face, and it was more than the fact that Lake had gone back to sleep.
Part of the reason he had to get out of bed shortly after he woke up was because he was worried that Lake wouldn’t be pleased to see their sleeping positions.
It was why he wanted Lake to be the one to wake up first for a change so he could gauge the Omega’s reaction, and Lake hadn’t even noticed.
He waited until he was dozing off again before he slipped through the connecting door.
He got his wish, and he would also be cooking breakfast for Lake. The day was starting great.
Lake didn’t stay asleep for very long, but Davian didn’t know this. They usually had early bedtimes so half an hour later he was already making his way to the bathroom.
He was tempted to check up on Davian in the kitchen but he didn’t want to make the Alpha nervous, for his series of first-time cooking, he was really good at it, and he had yet to burn the kitchen down.
That was as good as any for Lake, he also needed to be available if Rosie needed to reach him because she was essentially supervising the new secretaries until he fully clocked in.
So he went to the study after getting dressed, unsurprised to see that he had already gotten a message from Rosie.
