Chapter 318: -Chapter 318-
Making breakfast a second time was far easier than his first attempt. Davian knew better than to try making a salad again, focusing on what he already knew how to make.
It meant that he was able to make enough for the both of them, knowing that Lake wouldn’t approve of him not eating again.
When he was all done, he stacked the food on a mobile tray and took it to the dining room, right before making his way to the bedroom to wake Lake up.
There was no reason to though because the bed was empty, the sheets straightened. The rest of the room was empty as well, as well as his own bedroom.
So he went to the next best place, opening the door carefully and leaning against the doorjamb to watch Lake work on his laptop with intense focus.
"Breakfast is ready," He broke the silence, seeing the recognition clicked in Lake’s honey eyes as the Omega looked at him.
"Are we eating together?" Lake asked, getting out of his chair in a heartbeat.
"Yes, it’s in the dining room."
"I was checking for cooking schools for you," Lake said with excitement as they made their way down the empty hallway. "And there’s a decent one close to FluxCorp."
Davian just watched him animatedly talk about the features of the cooking school.
"I figured you would like one close to... me..." Lake trailed off as he spoke, less sure of himself the more he said.
"So you’ll drive me to cooking school?" Davian asked, a greedy light in his eyes.
"I-"
"And you’ll come pick me up," He quickly added.
Lake gave him a look as he held open the door for him, there were enough cars that he could drive a different one every day for a week or two, there was no reason to drive the Alpha to his cooking classes.
"Fine," He accepted, shaking his head with a small smile as he walked into the dining room.
"The secretaries are catching on quickly," Lake gave Davian some information while they ate.
"Handling files from the other companies was a walk in the park, it was the more... underground dealings that took a while to adjust to."
Davian listened closely, both sides of his job felt the same to him, but he could see how that could be a problem for others.
"Do you mind?" He asked with a small frown.
"I honestly expected to have to deal with just the darker side of things," Lake shrugged, "The companies were what came as a surprise."
Davian had a smile on his face at that response. Wanting to protect Lake was a valid feeling, but he was learning not to conflate that with thinking the Omega was sheltered.
"We’re still going shopping right?" He asked as they rounded up breakfast.
"Yes," Lake got to his feet to get ready to trail Davian around as the Alpha cleared up the dishes and headed for the kitchen. "Do you want to get anything?"
A light went off behind Davian’s eyes but it cooled just as fast, but not before Lake picked up on it.
"You do?" He pushed.
"It’s stupid," He said bluntly.
Lake bit back his smile at that response, "I doubt it."
"I was thinking about color-coordinated outfits," Davian forced out.
"I’m accompanying you to the event, that’s far from a stupid idea." He said seriously. "Why don’t we use both of our favorite colors? We can even get you a suit."
Davian made a face, "I don’t like suits."
"Too bad, you brought up the idea of color coordinating so you’re going to wear a suit." Lake said, his voice teasing.
He already knew that Davian didn’t like suits, he couldn’t ever remember the Alpha wearing a suit, and he was equally as allergic to dress shirts.
His outfits usually consisted of muscle shirts and fitted tanks. If he wanted to be fancy, a turtleneck sweater was as far as he would take it.
So he fully expected Davian to turn him down, he doubted they could color coordinate with the Alpha’s preference, but he could find a way.
"Fine," Davian grumbled after mulling over it for a bit.
"Wait, what? You’ll wear a suit?"
Davian had his back to him, the Alpha pretending to be upset while he did the dishes. Lake had agreed to wear matching outfits with him. He would wear an inflatable suit if the Omega asked him to.
"I can make concessions when I need to," He replied gruffly.
Lake jumped on the chance to tease him. "So you’ll let me help out with the cooking?"
"When I need to," Davian was quick to remind him, "You don’t need to also do the cooking."
"Do you want to drive today?" Lake glanced down at his phone to check the time. "I plotted a shopping route, it’ll end at FluxCorp so we can sign you up for cooking classes."
Davian was content to let Lake handle the planning, as long as the Omega was safe and close to him, he was satisfied.
Besides, Lake was so enthusiastic to take on what had to be so much work, and he got to make a choice for the first time in his life.
"You can drive," He allowed as he dried his hands, hanging up his apron.
"Do you want new aprons?" Lake asked lightly as they left the kitchen.
Davian liked that Lake was comfortable enough to get so chatty, but the downside was that he couldn’t just sit and listen to him speak, it had to be a conversation.
"Will you help me pick?"
Lake snickered silently at the thought of picking out aprons with silly patterns. "Sure."
Although Lake was the one driving, he let Davian open his door, driving them out.
Lake didn’t need to get his nails done but he did need to get his hair done, he could still take them to get their nails done just for the fun of it.
Not to mention, Davian genuinely looked to be having a great time, the Alpha scrolling through the plans he had made on his phone.
