Chapter 255: -Chapter 255-

They bumped into Noah when they got to the foyer, and Caspian wondered if it was a still coincidence this time.

Dahlia was notably not by his side this time, their presence attracting curious stares from the Pack members passing by.

"I have something to give to you," Caspian said before Noah could say a word, stepping forward to hand him the documents.

Noah stared at the documents in his hands with a shuttered expression, rolling it up and walking out of the Pack house without a single word.

"That was quicker than I hoped for," Caspian whispered conspiratorially to Asher, taking his mate’s arm so they could continue their journey to their room.

Depending on Noah’s response, he would either leave Moonstone the very next day and communicate from a distance until the divorce was finalized.

Or he would stay a few more days if Noah was being agreeable, either way, he wanted to be out of the town by the end of the week.

"I miss home," Caspian complained as they waited for their food to arrive.

He was curled up in Asher’s arms while the Alpha scrolled on his phone.

"We can go back whenever you want," Asher humored him.

Caspian made a face, "I don’t want to come back here again..."

It was why he was pushing for a divorce instead of just ignoring Noah. Their marriage never meant a thing to either of them in the first place so it wasn’t like being married hindered either of them.

But it still bound him to Noah and to Moonstone town, and he didn’t want that.

In a short while, their pizza and wine came, and Caspian momentarily forgot to whine about missing home.

Maybe he was just hungry.

It was past noon now, and by now back at the mansion, Katya would have personally done something about it if he hadn’t eaten yet.

Midway into their meal, an unwatched show playing in the background, there was a knock on the door.

Caspian shared a look with Asher, cradling a glass of wine, his smile falling off his face.

He sat back while Asher went to check on their surprise visitor, wondering who it could be.

A familiar voice made him rise to his feet as well - it was Dahlia.

"Hi," She addressed to Asher, her surprise to see him answer the door evident in her voice. "The Alpha has requested to see Caspian in his study."

Caspian joined them at the door then, leaning his weight on his mate. "Noah wants to see me? What for?"

Dahlia dropped her gaze to the ground, having a difficult time holding eye contact with Caspian.

"I’m not going to pretend like I don’t know," She said bluntly, "It’s about the divorce petition."

Caspian studied her intently, trying to read her thoughts through her expression.

"Fine, tell him I’ll be there." He accepted, stepping back into the apartment with Asher.

He emptied his glass and made a face, staring up at Asher with twinkling eyes. "Are you done eating?"

Asher was still reticent but it wasn’t in a way that bothered Caspian, "Why?"

"Because we’re going together," He informed him.

Caspian wanted his mate involved in every step of this, he wouldn’t give Asher the chance to doubt what they had.

"Yeah, are you?" Asher leaned in close.

"Maybe one more glass of wine."

"That’s a yes then," Asher said humorously, prying his empty glass of wine from his hand.

They cleared up their brunch and then got ready to leave, Caspian leading the way.

The last time he had been in the Alpha’s study was when he learned of the truth about his parents’ death, it was strange to be back here a few months later.

Noah sitting behind the desk didn’t help that strange feeling, Dahlia standing right behind his desk.

He didn’t bat an eye at Asher’s presence, getting right to the discussion.

"You’re leaving me your entire inheritance." Noah stated, sounding the most serious Caspian had heard him.

Caspian reached out for his mate, Asher equally standing behind his chair like Dahlia did Noah.

"As well as the title, I don’t need it." He said dismissively, serene blue eyes catching Dahlia moving closer to place her hands on Noah’s shoulders.

"So I’ve just got to agree to the divorce and I get your inheritance," Noah repeated, sounding like a broken record.

And it was humorous to Caspian because he never had access to it before, and even if he had stayed married to Noah, the Alpha would have had full control of it.

"Yes, Noah," He said in a bored voice, "I don’t like to repeat myself."

"And you’re not going to come back much later to try to get it back," Dahlia joined the conversation, trying to keep her voice formal like she was just doing her job.

"Do I look like I need it, Dahlia?" He demanded, deliberately rubbing his mate’s wealth in her face.

"I just want to make sure, and if you don’t mind, can we put that in writing?"

Caspian glanced at Asher now, he was completely throwing away everything he had.

If he used this route to secure an easy divorce from Noah, everything his parents left to him would be gone.

"I don’t care what you do," He replied, hearing his heartbeat in his ears as Asher tightened the hold they had on each other.

"And you wouldn’t change your mind after it has an actual figure-"

"He wouldn’t," Asher answered this time, his tone frosty.

That shut down the rest of Dahlia’s unnecessarily detailed questions.

"The sum is roughly 2.5 million dollars, and that’s separate from the Pack’s purse."

Caspian remained unshaken, coming to terms with why Noah had suddenly turned one-eighty degrees and was trying to make things work between them.

It reminded him of the moment that gave him the push he needed to leave the Pack.

Noah had no money.

Caspian could be cruel and contest the settlement in court but he was sick of seeing the Alpha’s face.

Dahlia’s presence at Noah’s side made him even sicker.
