Chapter 256: -Chapter 256-
Caspian looked at Asher to give a reply for him, his fingers finding his mate’s rings.
"And?" Asher asked, danger threaded through his voice.
Dahlia took an involuntary step back although her back was practically against the wall, clearing her throat.
"I-I just wanted to let you know," She murmured, wisely falling silent.
"Then I think we can come to an agreement," Noah grinned, shameless now that things were going his way.
Caspian could see how; currently, Noah had no access to his inheritance even though they were still technically married.
And the Pack’s purse wasn’t just something he could take money out for for personal reasons.
"Get your ass up then, we’re going to have this all put in fine print," Asher said without hesitation, helping Caspian to his feet.
Caspian let out a silent sigh, wishing he had known that all Noah wanted was some money.
He wouldn’t have had to go through the trouble of traveling down to Moonstone in that case, they were both important enough people in the town that usual rules could be waived for them.
He would have just needed to sign a couple of documents right in the comfort of his home.
But it still worked out somehow, and as he looked into his mate’s gentle gaze, it was easy to tune out Noah and Dahlia.
They would be resolving everything today, and if he could help it, they would be making that return trip back to Haines before the end of the day.

Davian woke up with a start, a prominent frown on his face as he stared up at the high ceiling.
He had fallen asleep... That wasn’t right, especially as it was in the middle of the day.
He had been feeling out of sorts for a couple of days now, actually if he was being honest, he had been feeling off ever since he got off inhibitors.
It wasn’t a week yet though so there was no reason for another checkup with the family doctor.
It was looking like he might need to do because other than feeling out of it and feeling drowsy in the middle of the day, there was nothing more to it.
His desk phone rang then and he wondered if the device ringing before had been what had woken him up.
He picked it up and waited...
"Hello, sir," His secretary again. "The package is here as you requested."
There was a tick on Davian’s otherwise perfectly pliant expression. "Have it sent up to my office," He told her, hanging up.
He didn’t want to discuss further about it, and he appreciated his secretary’s discretion.
Davian was more often at this company because of its ease of access to the rest of his estate, and because he didn’t want to have anything important sent to the mansion while he wasn’t there, he had it sent here.
He hadn’t been the one to get the ’sex toys’ because he had been stumped, not knowing where to begin or what was suitable for what.
So he had to drag his secretary into it; there was a reason she was the only secretary he bothered to have a conversation over the phone with.
The rest communicated to him via emails alone, and he would keep it that way.
But Rosie was the sole exception, and that was because she focused on her job and made no move to get closer to him.
It had been a tad difficult to reach out to her about it but she had taken it in the way she did everything else.
Formal and businesslike. She was swift with a response and asked necessary but not insensitive questions.
Like how soon he needed them, and where she should have the package brought to.
It was the reason a nervous intern was dropping off a discreetly packaged item in his office.
It was brought in a flowery perfumed bag that gave nothing away about what could possibly be in it, and Davian made a mental note to add a bonus to her salary.
Davian considered taking a break until his rut was over but he knew that he would go crazy with boredom if he wasn’t keeping himself busy.
He also considered leaving the mansion during that time but he hated to be far from home.
The guests at his house were disallowed from going to the master wing, but that was already a given.
He could also just get rid of them, to spare himself all of the trouble.
Curse distant family ties and obligations, because he would still have to tolerate them for a while longer.

Lake got a call from Caspian that evening, the Omega was bad at texting, and each of his responses was framed like a formal email.
It was why he knew nothing of what had happened until their call.
Caspian was upset that they would still need to spend a couple more days there for necessary proceedings they couldn’t avoid.
They already tried to fast-track as much as they could but it would still take some time for the order of dissolution to be prepared so they could both sign it.
Caspian had already moved out of the Pack house, refusing to sleep there one more night, and Lake was just happy to get good news.
He had stayed home tonight, wary of bumping into Clint at the restaurant again.
With the way he had left the Alpha back at the park, he knew well that Clint would come searching for him that evening.
It wasn’t like he planned to abandon the Alpha, he would still be going back to the park the next day.
He just didn’t feel up to going out for dinner tonight.
As he curled up on his couch and watched a show before bedtime, the thought of Davian crept into his thoughts.
He didn’t think about his old boss often, but there were times like now when the Alpha popped into his head.
He had tried not to think about what Davian had thought of him when he came back from his trip to find him gone, and it worked... most of the time.
