Chapter 101: +Chapter 101+

"Why don’t we move on to your height and weight?" Doctor Brianna said in that cheery voice.

Caspian was still very jumpy, all they had done was harmless tests so far, he hadn’t even needed to take any piece of clothing off.

But he knew that wouldn’t last for long...

"Could you take your scarf off for starters?" Brianna was saying, "We can get your height and weight without having you change into the hospital gown."

Caspian swallowed heavily, reaching for the scarf. He had agreed to come here so this was going to come eventually, it was better to set the tone early.

He took the scarf off and set it on a nearby empty counter, getting on the scale like she directed.

He stared curiously as the numbers flipped rapidly before settling on his actual weight.

The numbers 48.7 kg blinked back at him and he made a face at it. And here he thought that he had managed to put some weight on.

Doctor Brianna wasn’t paying a single attention to the number on the scale, her eyes fixated on the bruises visible on Caspian’s neck.

When Jael had said he was booking an appointment for a full physical, she should of course have known that it wasn’t your average routine check.

It took all of the professionalism for her couple of decades-long time of working not to blurt out the questions burning her tongue.

Instead, she scribbled on her notepad and guided him to the equipment that would take his height.

She scribbled the information down as well, going over to get a hospital robe.

"You can just take your top off and put this on," She let him know, turning away with the pretense of writing something to give him some privacy.

Caspian did as he was told, neatly folding his sweatshirt into the little basket the Doctor provided for him to put his clothes in.

His scarf also went into the basket, and he sat on the bed when he was done, waiting for her to attend to him.

Brianna tried to keep her facade of professionalism, pulling a metal table on wheels over.

The table held a tray of tools, and she busied herself with checking his eyes, nose, and mouth thoroughly.

Her expression got a little grim when she picked up on the bruising in his mouth and throat, pushing the tray away with a less animated smile.

Doctor Brianna had said nothing about the bruises on his skin so far, remaining professional with a polite smile on her face.

It made it easy for Caspian to drop the hospital robe so she could get a look at him.

Now, Brianna faltered, her gloved hands trembling as she took his blood pressure and vital signs.

With all of the extensive bruises, she couldn’t avoid prodding his body, explaining what she was about to do in detail, and getting his consent before touching him.

Outside the hospital room, Jael was starting to get impatient. It wasn’t that he doubted Brianna’s abilities, he was just starting to get concerned about the time it was taking.

Two hours was a rather long time for a physical, and yet here had been here for three and counting.

He shot to his feet on a spur of the moment, striding to the door to knock at the same time that it was swung open.

In all the years that he had known the doctor, he had never seen her this pissed off.

Her usual soft brown eyes were dark with anger as she glared him down, stepping out of the hospital room instead of letting him get to Caspian.

"Jael? Can I have a word with you?"

Jael was trapped in the waiting room with the 4"11 ball of rage. He really didn’t want to have a word with her if he could help it.

"How bad is it?" He took the ball before she could.

Brianna slammed her notepad into his chest, making him wince. "That bad."

Jael scrolled through the list that had been simplified for his sake, his blood growing cold.

"Bad enough that if this happens again when he’s not yet completely healed, the damage could be irreparable." She started off on a rant.

"I’ll pass the message along," Jael said tightly, the report of fractured ribs and contusions was all he had to see.

Brianna immediately did the math, "It was the boss?" She whispered, her eyes wide.

Jael’s silence was enough of an answer.

"For the love of God, keep him away!" She scolded.

Jael wished he fucking could. "I’ll welcome tips," He bit back, sitting on the padded benches.

Brianna’s sharp eyes took in his stiff movements, "And what happened to you?"

"Played with fire," He answered vaguely.

Brianna was smart enough not to push, Jael was sturdy unlike the pretty Omega seated in the hospital room.

"His body can’t handle that level of roughness, he’ll break." She handed it straight to Jael, knowing that it would get to the boss.

It was slightly less surprising to hear that the felony had been committed by Mafia King Asher.

He was a literal force of nature, it wasn’t that jarring to find out that he was a rather rough lover.

"Or even better, the boss could try someone less fragile," She offered helpfully.

"That’s a no-go." Jael shook his head.

Brianna frowned, it was fairly common knowledge that the boss went through lovers like they were disposable.

"What changed?"

"He found his weakness."

Brianna’s lips twitched with the irony of it, that the boss’ weakness would also be incredibly weak.

"Just..." Jael sighed heavily, looking drained, "Just file a detailed report I can hand to him."

"Will do," Brianna said without protest, hurrying back to her patient.

Caspian looked at her expectantly as she returned, sitting obediently on the bed, his clothes back on.

"As I said, I’ll prescribe you some painkillers, and bed rest, lots of it." She said in a bubbly manner, much different from the hard tone she used around Jael.

"And also, no sex." She deadpanned, "For at least a month."
