Chapter 70 - 70 70 Questioning
70: Chapter 70: Questioning 70: Chapter 70: Questioning At this moment, the air swelled with a delicate atmosphere.
Everyone stood still, making no rash moves as Violet had halted all action.
She had a reason for doing so.
A savage man emerged from the darkness, claiming to be Rolin’s brother, her only relative.
Was it the truth?!
This was preposterous!
She had made so many plans, intending to demonstrate her powers to Rolin in darkness and embrace her after resolving all matters.
Two adorable girls doing unspeakable things in the shadows – wasn’t that a very mysterious and wonderful thing?
Why, in this place filled with dark power and evil aura, would a savage man appear to cause havoc?
What had she done to deserve this?
Seeing her plans possibly disrupted, naturally, Violet brooded with dissatisfaction.
This suppressed feeling was fermenting intensively.
If it didn’t find an outlet soon, she could hardly resist her impulse to hack this man to death.
She was ready to command the skeleton to split him with one strike.
But she knew she couldn’t do this!
What if she killed the wrong person, and he really was Rolin’s brother?
Wouldn’t Rolin harbor a grudge against her then?
In her hesitation, she reluctantly asked Lorcan about his identity.
Even at this moment, she clung onto a glimmer of hope that the figure in front of her was merely a human transformed by a demon’s illusion.
However, Violet knew very well what she was doing.
The appearance of this man here was a suspicious sign.
Violet had to figure out if he was really Rolin’s brother, then why was he here?
The doubts in Violet’s heart were also Rolin’s.
Although Rolin was certain that the young man in front of her was her long-lost brother, why would he appear in this evil place?
Moreover, why did she encounter him in the secret passage under Violet Castle on this day?
Was all this a matter of fate?
At Lorcan’s feet lay a dead monster.
It must have intended to kill her brother, thus met its end here, right?
This made Rolin wish she could raise her magic mace and burn the monster into ashes right now.
Lorcan remained silent, facing Rolin.
He didn’t want to reveal his identity.
But if he didn’t clarify, would the lady in front of him kill him?
Instinctively, he activated his unique senses as a Demon Hunter.
The senses told him that the magic power Violet wielded was seemingly endless like the sea.
This was a symbol of invincible power – an enemy Lorcan could never defeat.
Or perhaps, he had been deceived by some magic trick of Violet.
Whatever the case, Lorcan knew that if Violet wished to dispose of him, it would take little effort.
The crux of the problem was, he had no way to defeat this woman and take his sister back, so he could only comply and answer her questions.
Beyond this, he could think of no other course of action.
She could easily kill him, yet he had no power to retaliate.
This shocked Lorcan, a slayer of a myriad of demons.
He had never encountered a mage so powerful that he couldn’t see through her abilities.
Whilst he contemplated, time continued ticking away.
The undead skeleton’s spear was pointed at his throat.
If he didn’t give an answer soon,
the terrifying female figure might trample him to death without batting an eye.
Unearthing his identity to his sister, or choose to die in front of her.
Between the two choices, Lorcan couldn’t pick the latter.
So, he finally sighed, raised his hands and dropped his sword.
He chose to honestly confess “I came for my task.
I’m not a monster from this evil place.
And…
I truly am Rolin’s brother.”
On this matter, he helplessly noted that if she still doubted him being Rolin’s brother, he would be out of options.
Of course, this answer was barely satisfactory.
She smirked, gave him a dismissive look and shook her head.
Violet knew clearly that according to Villes’s words, the underground passage wouldn’t lead anywhere.
It had a dead end.
If they didn’t clear the monsters inside, they wouldn’t escape.
Under normal logic, the monsters must have been placed here deliberately, probably to guard a treasure.
This treasure was likely left by the castle’s original owner.
The Glorious Nobles might have discovered the existence of unclean things beneath the castle through their interest in this treasure.
This seemed to make sense.
However, Lorcan’s response was ambiguous.
Assuming this man had indeed turned up from here, what was his ‘task’?
What unspeakable secret was hidden in this gloomy underground?
Besides the treasure, what else could be found here?!
Therefore, Violet shook her head and chuckled, “You haven’t said enough.
You think with this, I’ll believe your nonsense?”
Was there any shame in admitting this?
This guy must have come here for the treasure or some valuable items in the underground, which angered Violet.
This feeling came from his lies to her.
However, Lorcan couldn’t help but curse inwardly, “What other reasons could there be?”
He had spent considerable effort to find this demon’s hidden passage through a cave, just to get here.
He came to exterminate the demons in the cave as the mysterious man requested.
This was his mission.
He didn’t wish to take away anything else.
If twisted words were demanded, he only desired the lives of the demons.
Lorcan looked at Violet, his face chilly.
A moment’s thought later, he seemed to realize something.
Perhaps, the woman standing before him was the very constructor and original owner of this passage?
