Bounty Mercenary Group -
Chapter 69 - 69 69 Meeting
69: Chapter 69: Meeting 69: Chapter 69: Meeting The skeleton monster slowly descended the staircase, standing at the corner, then slowly turned its skull.
Within the ghastly white skull, a pale blue flame flickered, radiating a ghostly glow – this caused Lorcan to involuntarily swallow his saliva.
Just as he was deciding between attacking and evading, new footsteps rang out from afar.
This time, the footsteps he heard were not from one person but two.
He stood dumbfounded, then glanced at the skeleton in front of him, which was not attacking, and realized something.
Then he thought: Could there be other mercenaries here?
As he was thinking, the undead skeleton also turned around, raised its shield and lifted up its spear, pointing it at Lorcan.
If it were not for Violet’s order, it would have already lunged its spear into Lorcan’s belly.
Its attacking stance was clear.
From Lorcan’s position at the bottom of the staircase, he was obviously at a huge disadvantage.
The footsteps were getting closer.
He had to quickly judge and make a decision under such circumstances, perhaps he should believe that the other party was a group of mercenaries.
That could mean that the other party could be humans and if so, Lorcan could then find the path out of this underground labyrinth.
He did not want to die in this sunless place, in a corner filled with monsters, as he still had unfinished business.
However, the intuition of a demon hunter told him that even so, he could not rule out the possibility of encountering a new kind of monster here.
In a daze, the footsteps were getting closer; he needed to make a decision quickly.
Finally, the moment the other party showed up at the corner, he made the most cautious choice – to hide behind the nearby wall.
Violet watched the undead.
She knew the undead wouldn’t stop for no reason, let alone maintain an attacking stance.
That is to say, it must have discovered something to behave in such a way.
So, what exactly did it find?
Violet’s gaze bypassed the Undead.
In front of her, apart from a corner, there was nothing.
However, there was a fluffy thing lying on the ground.
It seemed to be some kind of monster, a creature of this underground world.
Blood was oozing from its body, which was pitch black.
Violet had never seen such a creature before.
Could it be the monster from the depths of underground as Villes had indicated?
“It doesn’t seem dangerous at all,” Violet thought.
What’s so frightening about a monster that’s already dead?
At this moment, Rolin tightly gripped her magic mace and felt extremely uneasy.
The monster’s blood was slowly flowing out, which meant that the corpse had just recently died.
The one who killed it may be nearby, possibly even around the corner.
She pulled Violet’s sleeve, then pointed to Lorcan hidden behind the wall, and remained silent.
Violet had already noticed that there was someone behind her as she had heard the crackling sounds of flames.
Since the undead skeleton stopped in its tracks, it was evident that it saw something threatening.
So that’s why it acted that way.
Violet was quiet for a moment, choosing to address the potential enemy hiding in darkness.
“If you come out now, I won’t kill you.
But if you wait until I walk past, I can’t guarantee your safety.”
Upon hearing this, Lorcan furrowed his brows.
“How is it a woman?” he thought.
After a moment of silence, he emerged from behind the wall, holding a torch in his hand.
If the other party was human, perhaps he could find a way out of this godforsaken place.
As he stepped out, the brightness in front of him suddenly increased, causing him to instinctively raise his hand to shield his eyes.
This was one of Violet’s tricks.
Before he could see her clearly, she looked at him and poured a large amount of magic into the small white orb hovering above her head.
And the effect it created was exactly what was happening in front of her, which was exactly what Violet wanted.
She observed the man who had just emerged from the shadows – his body was covered in layers of blood, as if he had slaughtered many monsters.
In one hand he held a torch, in the other a shining silver sword.
That was not an ordinary steel sword, but a genuine silver sword.
It was effective against undead monsters.
He looked like an unlucky adventurer who had fallen into a trap and lost his way in the dark corridor.
“Hey, can you dim your light a bit?” Lorcan couldn’t help but speak out at that moment.
The familiar voice made Rolin immediately think of something.
She blurted out, “Brother?
Is that you?”
Because of the sudden bright light from Violet, Lorcan had instinctively raised his hand to shield his eyes – and along the way hidden his face – not allowing Rolin to recognize him immediately.
But that voice…there was no mistake!
Violet glanced at Rolin, opened her mouth, and felt as though a wave of magical beasts were running wildly within her.
She held back her urge to comment, and the light faded.
Similarly, Rolin’s call made Lorcan freeze.
As the blinding white light gradually faded, he lowered his arm.
The two looked at each other’s faces.
Although time had passed and they had been separated, the face in memory had changed significantly.
However, one thing didn’t change – the person standing before them was their kin.
Upon seeing Lorcan’s face, Rolin lost control entirely and tried to rush into his arms.
But when Violet heard the footsteps behind her, she guessed what Rolin was going to do.
So before Rolin made a move, Violet pulled her back.
Then, she shook her head and calmly told Rolin that there weren’t so many coincidences in this world.
Such a cheesy thing happening in this creepy venue – shouldn’t it feel strange?
Maybe the man she saw was just an illusion created by magic and his real identity was just an ugly orc, or something?
This was why she stopped Rolin.
And at this point, Lorcan was also struggling to control his emotions, wanting to step forward.
But at this moment, the undead skeleton stood in front of him, raising its weapons.
It felt like a threat – if he dared to take another step forward, what might happen next would be beyond anyone’s control.
