Chapter 66 - 66 66 Holy Light

66: Chapter 66: Holy Light 66: Chapter 66: Holy Light Facing the woman kneeling before her, Violet felt a bit overwhelmed.

She needed some peace and quiet.

At that moment, her gaze wandered across the gray stone walls until it suddenly dawned on her that she’d forgotten something.

Villes had once mentioned that deep within this castle lay a significant problem that still needed solving.

Why not make the most of the current situation to solve it?

Hence, she stood up and walked over to Rolin, looking down at her with a slight smile as Rolin bit her own lip.

The smile served as a check on Rolin’s loyalty.

If the unclean things lurking in the depths of the Black Crow Castle were not dealt with, their wild growth would eventually cause trouble.

But to Rolin, Violet’s smile seemed sinister, as if she had come up with a plan that was full of bloodshed.

Was the Lich planning to do something to her?

Rolin couldn’t help but ponder.

However, all Violet wanted to do was to handle that problem, and at the same time understand the strength of the wild mage in this world.

Violet commanded Rolin, “Stand up and come with me.”

Then, without reaching out her hand or making any other gestures, she walked away.

Frowning, Rolin followed Violet without a clue about where they were headed.

The look in Violet’s eyes caused a shiver of dread to go down her spine.

Rolin doubted that the destination would be a pleasant place.

Despite the thought, she stood up and followed Violet’s pace.

As she walked behind Violet, she wondered if she had agreed?

Rolin took large breaths and forcefully suppressed her fear, having no idea where their path would lead.

She didn’t voice her wild thoughts and instead absently lifted her magic mace.

Listened to the footsteps behind her, Violet looked back at Rolin’s expression and didn’t find any hint of fear.

After catching Violet’s gaze, Rolin nodded slightly.

Seeing this, Violet stopped paying her any attention and began recalling the words Villes had told her.

In her memory, one of the secret paths was located just within the grand hall, leading down into the depths of the castle.

Thirteen bricks from the main gate, towards the east.

Violet acted according to her recollection.

As the ground rumbled, a hidden door slowly rose from the wall.

At first glance, it blended into the stone wall, revealing no differences.

However, if one would observe closely for a long while, subtle traces would reveal themselves, like the dust on the ground.

As the door opened fully, what waited behind was a skeleton leaning on the wall, its hands outstretched in an agonizing struggle.

The skeleton seemed to be trapped in a dungeon.

Despite locating the exit, it hadn’t figured out how to open the concealed door.

In the end, it died there, with its struggle immortalized in its final posture.

Even dead, it emanated a sense of despair.

Violet frowned and didn’t rush inside.

Instead, she walked to the entrance and peeked into the dark and profound passage.

Surprisingly, inside the passage, a breeze blew!

This indicated that the passage was connected to another place, which was why the wind existed.

With wind, they didn’t need to worry about a lack of oxygen.

However, why didn’t the struggling individual choose to leave using the other exit?

Could there be some monster in the darkness that deterred him from returning?

Was that why he remained there until he met his death…

How tragic, sighed Violet.

However, she quickly discovered new information from the corpse.

The dried corpse seemed to be quite fresh and was still wearing an adventurer’s clothing.

A broken weapon lay by its side.

Looking at the rough edges of the sword, Violet realized that any creature capable of breaking such a weapon would be an enormous being.

This creature must have used tremendous force, leaving such traces in the process.

The corpse was not old which meant that the deceased could have been a local mercenary who got into the Black Crow Castle but instead of entering from the main door, took a different route.

This poor fellow must have felt extremely regretful upon death.

However, it was his own choices that led to such a desperate situation.

Although fatal, his situation was his own choice.

After gaining limited information from the corpse, Violet caught a glimpse of Rolin.

She felt that it was time for a demonstration.

Let’s show this mage the power of the holy light.

The tunnel must be crowded with vengeful spirits, the souls left by the poor people who died here.

Given enough time, he would certainly transform into a powerful undead skeleton.

With that in mind, Violet took a step back, raising her magic mace at the corpse.

A golden holy light descended from above, brightening the struggling skeleton, and its scorching heat made it extremely bright.

The golden light also illuminated the passage.

In that instant, the darkness was dispelled, and the long passage became sacred.

“Praise the highest holy light.

May the holy light purify all unclean and sinful!” she chanted softly, waving about until the holy light disappeared.

The skeleton turned into a white powder at her touch and scattered on the ground.

The cold wind blowing from the passage swept the powder into the hall.

“Is this…

Holy Light Magic?” Rolin asked, her eyes widening in disbelief.

Among all the magical elements she’d seen, she had never seen such a power that could instantly turn a corpse into white ash.

This power was beyond her understanding.

Violet suppressed a laugh, “Holy Light Magic?

Not exactly.

This is the holy light.”
