Chapter 46: MOUNT -BLOODSTONE
Chapter 46: MOUNT -BLOODSTONE
"I understand you’re all worried," I began, but Elder Dante cut me off before I could continue.
"I’ll go alone, and that’s final," he stated firmly. "You must stay far away from this mess and focus on gathering information about the Lycan in the Bay Shifter pack."
Ma’s eyes snapped to me, her expression unreadable. "Have you told Elder Dante everything?" she asked.
A faint blush crept up my neck, and I shook my head, feeling foolish. My silence did not go unnoticed. Nessa’s sharp gaze remained locked on me, her curiosity palpable. I exhaled in frustration before speaking up.
"We should all sit down and discuss this properly," I said, glancing around the room.
Qadira let out a barely suppressed laugh, and Ma grinned like a fool, clearly enjoying my discomfort. Reluctantly, I sat, and they all turned to face me, waiting.
For a few moments, I remained silent, gathering my thoughts. Then, I met Elder Dante’s gaze and finally admitted, "I met the Lycan wolf that Lord Marcel is searching for. He is the Alpha of the Bay Shifter pack. His name is Tor Gale."
"Did you meet him?" Elder Dante demanded, his eyes narrowing. He pressed further, his voice laced with urgency. "And why didn’t you tell me?"
I shrugged, exhaling slowly. "I was still clearing my head about it," I admitted. Then, after a brief pause, I added, "Tor Gale is my lifetime mate."
The moment the words left my mouth, Nessa let out a piercing yell, so loud that Dante flinched. His eyes widened as he leaned forward, his voice dropping to a near whisper.
"Repeat that."
I clenched my jaw, feeling the weight of their stares. Before I could respond, Qadira took it upon herself to do it for me.
"The Bay Shifter pack Alpha, Tor Gale, is Freyr’s lifetime mate," she declared loudly. "They met in Hanka Island, and he’s the powerful Lycan that awakened."
Elder Dante’s expression darkened with realization. He leaned in even closer, his gaze scrutinizing me as if trying to scent the truth from my skin. Before he could, Ma interjected.
"No one can scent Tor’s blood in him," she stated calmly. "The Kayne Bloodstone is masking it."
Nessa’s jaw practically hit the floor, while Qadira smirked and crossed her arms. "Well, how about that?" she mused, amusement dancing in her eyes.
"Shit!" Elder Dante cursed as he shot to his feet, glaring down at me.
Ma’s sharp voice cut through the tension. "He’s like your son—why are you glaring at him?"
Her words struck something in him. His expression faltered, and after a tense pause, he let out a frustrated sigh before sinking back into his seat. Running a hand down his face, he exhaled heavily.
"Is this why you accepted the mission?" he finally asked. "I wondered why you agreed to Lord Marcel’s plan."
I met his gaze and gave a firm nod. "That’s exactly why. Alpha Tor Gale was a force to reckon with. Of course, Lord Marcel would see him as a threat and I am interested to know what he wants from him"
"So, you fed from him?" Nessa asked, her eyes narrowing slightly. Again, I nodded. She muttered under her breath, shaking her head. "Bold and reckless..." Then, after a beat, she added, "You do realize that if Lord Marcel ever finds out, he’ll turn on you?"
I scoffed. "Lord Marcel already planned to kill me in the Bay Shifter pack," I said flatly. "He wanted my death to ignite a war. I was just another pawn to him; one he was willing to sacrifice for his plans. But I was never going to let that happen." The room fell silent, the weight of my words settling over the air. "In terms of power and strength," I continued, my voice steady, "he’s no match for me or Tor."
"You are putting all of us in danger," Elder Dante emphasized, his voice tight with frustration.
Ma, however, was unmoved. She lifted her chin and responded firmly, "His happiness is all that matters to me. I will do everything in my power to protect him."
With that, she rose from her seat, walked to the corner of the room, and pulled open a drawer from the tall wooden cabinet leaning against the wall. Reaching inside, she retrieved an old, worn sachet bag. Without hesitation, she shut the drawer, turned back, and handed it to Elder Dante.
"Take this with you," she stated.
Elder Dante took the sachet, opened it slightly, and immediately gasped. His expression hardened as he snapped it shut and tried to hand it back.
"No," Ma said firmly, shaking her head. "This will help you navigate the Bloodstone Mountain without a hitch." Her voice softened, and for the first time that night, emotion flickered in her eyes. "You’ve delivered this to me once before, Dante. That means you came back alive. And you will again."
A heavy silence settled over the room. Elder Dante hesitated, then clenched his jaw and tucked the sachet away. I exhaled slowly, realizing that Ma was not just giving him a tool—she was making sure that he was coming back unscathed.
Nessa remained silent, her thoughts swirling behind her sharp gaze. Ma must have sensed it, as she turned to face her and asked, "What’s troubling you, Nessa?"
Nessa huffed, her lips curling in frustration. "There’s something we’re all missing," she admitted, her eyes narrowing as she continued, "I can’t quite put a finger on it. I mean, if Lord Marcel tasked Cassius with controlling Aurora, why did he send me to Hanka Island and into the Bay Shifter pack to draw out Tor?"
Ma nodded thoughtfully; her gaze distant as she processed Nessa’s words. "Lord Marcel is not working alone," she said, her voice low and steady. "Someone else is pulling the strings. That’s the person we need to draw out."
We all hummed in agreement, the weight of the realization settling over us like a thick fog. The tension in the room deepened, but there was no time to dwell on it. As the first rays of morning light streamed through the window, signaling that it was time to leave, Elder Dante and I rose from our seats, ready to begin the mission.
Ma gave us a final, lingering look as we moved toward the door. "Be careful," she urged, her voice filled with a mixture of concern and determination. With a final wave, we stepped out of the house, the door closing softly behind us as we set off back to Paradise Coven City.
We arrived at the entrance of my house ready to part ways with Elder Dante as we reached Paradise Coven City. His eyes bore into me, the unspoken questions about Tor lingering between us. I nodded in understanding and leaned down, whispering, "I’ll explain everything to you once you’re back."
He gave me a sharp look but turned to leave. Just as he stepped away, he froze, his gaze snapping eastward. He hissed, a low growl of warning escaping his lips, "Come out."
A minute passed, and then Nessa’s brother Caleb emerged from where he had been hidden. I raised my hand, signaling him to stop before he could approach.
"What is it?" Elder Dante demanded, his voice sharp, before he turned to me and added, "Caleb is one of my men?"
Caleb moved closer, his expression tense, and whispered urgently, "The one on Hanka Island sent word. He wants to meet—now."
My eyes widened at the mention of the island. Elder Dante cursed under his breath, frustration and concern flashing in his eyes. Caleb was already gone, disappearing in the blink of an eye, leaving us standing there in the quiet morning air. We stood rooted on the spot, the weight of the situation pressing down on us as we exchanged a glance, both wondering what had just been set in motion.
"How the hell did Tor get someone to send a message?" I murmured to myself, still trying to wrap my mind around it.
Elder Dante turned to me; his expression serious. "Caleb is someone I trust. He must have only approached us because you were with me. That means the message is truly from Tor." I frowned, feeling the weight of his words sink in. If it were from Tor, things would have been more complicated than I had imagined. The last thing I wanted was to be caught up in something even bigger than what we were already facing.
"Then I need to go.," I said, my voice firm despite the uncertainty gnawing at me.
Elder Dante nodded, his eyes still scanning the area as if waiting for something else to happen. "Agreed. But don’t forget that you might have someone following you and get to Hanka Island safe and sound. You need to be extra careful from now on and know that Lord Marcel is watching you like a hawk."
"What about you" I smirked at him.
"I am in a worse position. Your mother will kill me if I do not come back and that will mean I can never make a move on her "He muttered.
"Oh Dante, I will soon be calling you Step-father and I have a feeling Qadria will love it too "I snickered.
"Fuck you Freyr" He cursed and disappeared into thin air leaving me in
