Chapter 39: CAN WE TALK ?

{"A real conversation always contains an invitation"}

SPARKS POV

As we exited the garden, I could not help but tease Spark. "So, when are you going to claim Wave?"

His steps faltered for just a moment, and I caught the faint blush creeping up his neck. He cleared his throat, trying to play it off. "I don’t know what you’re talking about."

I chuckled, the amusement clear in my voice. "Oh, you know exactly what I am talking about. You have been holding back for too long. It is time to claim him, or someone else will."

I lowered my voice, watching his reaction carefully. "Blossom Sky, Female General of the Pack, and Lily Crest, Female Enforcer—both have eyes for him. I have overheard them talking about how hot his behind is and how broad his shoulders are."

The words sliced through me like a knife. Without another word, I rushed out of the garden, refusing to look back. The rest of the days passed in a blur, my mind clouded with frustration and unease. I was dying of jealousy and the uncertainty of the fact that Wave was the man I wanted the most but others coveted him, and I had not even made a move.

It was the next day when we settled in for the shifter pack meeting, at the Bay shifter conference hall, and I was already on edge as Spark my wolf rose in anxiety and agitation. My teeth clenched as I watched Blossom and Lily rake their eyes over Wave from head to toe. He ignored them completely, but it did not matter, I was still irked beyond reason.

My eyes roamed around the room as I listened in, more so listened to every breath that Wave took and the way he was seriously listening in as if nothing would bother him. Once the meeting ended, we left the council hall, Wave and Tiger hot on my heels. I heard Wave calling my name, but I was too angry to stop. Instead, I stormed toward the training grounds, needing an outlet for the frustration burning inside me.

Punch after punch, I struck the heavy bags, channeling every ounce of emotion into each blow. Over and over, I let my anger fuel me, striking until my knuckles ached and my body trembled with exhaustion.

Dusk settled in, casting long shadows across the training grounds. Finally, with one last, shaky breath, I dropped to the ground, my chest rising and falling in heavy gasps. My muscles burned, but the turmoil inside me still refused to fade.

I lay on the ground, listening to the soft chirping of crickets and the gentle rustle of the night breeze as it swept through the training grounds. The cool air wrapped around me, a welcome relief after the intensity of my workout. I closed my eyes and huffed, preparing to get up and head home when a familiar scent filled my senses.

Wave.

My eyes snapped open, and I sat up hurriedly, just in time to see him approaching from the main entrance. His strides were steady, his gaze locked onto me with quiet concern. When he reached me, he extended his hand without a word. I hesitated for only a second before nodding and grabbing his hand. He pulled me up effortlessly, his grip warm and firm.

Once I was on my feet, he did not let go right away. Instead, he tilted his head slightly, studying me. "What’s wrong?" His voice was gentle but insistent. "Why did you rush off after the meeting?"

"Nothing," I stated flatly, attempting to walk past him.

Before I could move away, Wave grabbed my hand. His grip was firm but not harsh, and when he spoke, his voice was barely above a whisper, yet laced with quiet demand.

"What the hell is your problem?"

I pulled my hand free, my heart pounding. "I was just having a bad day and needed to let off some steam," I muttered, turning away.

But when I looked back, his eyes were filled with something I was not prepared for, the anger, disappointment... and something deeper. Something that made my breath hitch.

He stepped closer, close enough that our noses nearly brushed. My body locked in place, every muscle tense, as his words sent a shiver down my spine.

"I’m not interested in Blossom. Or Lily. Or any of the pack members. "We stood there, locked in a silent battle, neither of us looking away. My pulse thundered in my ears, but I could not speak, I could not move. Then, with barely any space left between us, he whispered, "I’ve waited long enough. And finally... you’re showing signs that you want me too."

I blinked once. Then again. My mouth opened, but all I could manage was a weak, "I have no idea what you’re talking about."

His expression darkened. As if my answer was not the one he wanted to hear. Before I could react, he closed the last of the distance, his body pressing firmly against mine. His grip was firm but not harsh, and when he spoke, his voice was barely above a whisper, yet laced with quiet demand. I’ve waited long enough. And finally... you’re showing signs that you want me too."

He then pulled me into a deep kiss and I was lost in the haze of the kiss, standing frozen as Wave pressed on, deepening it. For a moment, I did not respond, still caught in my belief but then something ignited inside me, a fire that had been waiting far too long to burn. My hands moved on their own, wrapping around him, claiming him as much as he claimed me.

This fine man was mine.

For so long, I had convinced myself he would never want me, that we would forever dance around each other. But now, here we were, tangled in something undeniable.

When the kiss finally ended, neither of us moved. Our breaths mingled, our nostrils flaring as we remained locked in each other’s gaze.

"Do you dare deny it?" he demanded, his voice low and thick with emotion.

A soft chuckle escaped my lips, and I shook my head. "There’s nothing to deny," I admitted, my chest tightening. "I’m deeply in love with you."

Wave stilled, his expression shifting into something unreadable. Then, slowly, a wide grin stretched across his face. He took a step back, staring at me as if he could not believe his ears.

"What... what did you just say?" His voice was rough, almost breathless.

I tilted my head, holding his gaze, and repeated, "I love you, Wave."

In an instant, he threw himself at me, engulfing me in his arms. His warmth surrounded me, his grip firm as if he never wanted to let go. He stood a few inches taller than me, and I sank into the embrace, feeling completely at home in his hold.

"I love you too, Spark Tor!" he shouted, his voice ringing with pure joy.

We held each other, listening in to the night air and the way our shifter wolves remained comfortable around each other. By the time we left the training ground together, the silence between us was comfortable yet charged with something new something neither of us wanted to let go of just yet. Wave loved me as much as I loved him and for me the moon goddess has given me the best gift, something I never hoped for yet yearned. I walked Wave home, our steps slow, as if we were trying to stretch out every second we had.

When we finally reached his house, we stood outside, reluctant to part. The night air was cool, but the warmth between us was enough to keep the chill at bay. We stared at each other, savoring the moment, unwilling to break whatever spell had settled over us.

Wave took a step closer, his voice soft yet filled with meaning. "Do you want to spend more time with me?"

His words sent a shiver down my spine, my heart thudding in response. I swallowed, my gaze flickering between his eyes and his lips, the pull between us stronger than ever.

"Wave, if I come into your house, I will not hold back. I want our first time to be epic and so I bid you goodnight, "I turned around and fled as I heard him yell "Coward ".

By the time I got home, I was out of breath, my chest rising and falling in quick, uneven motions. A shiver ran through me, not from the cold, but from something far deeper, something primal. Spark, my wolf, roared within me, his need intertwining with my own, demanding release, demanding Wave.

I pressed a hand against my chest, feeling the wild, erratic beat of my heart as if it were trying to break free from my ribs and chase after him. My entire body burned, my skin tingling with the phantom touch of his hands and his lips.

I clenched my fists, exhaling shakily. I want him so bad" And more so, I had never felt more alive.
