Chapter 122: GEROD’S WORDS

{"Once you’ve earned its loyalty, there is nothing a dragon won’t do for you." }

He let out a deep, rumbling huff, a wordless retort that carried both defiance and silent vigilance. Then, with a final exhale, I felt him retreat, slipping back into rest.

I sighed, pushing myself up. My muscles were stiff, my mind was still clouded with the remnants of sleep. Stepping forward, I walked toward the main pool, the dim cave light barely illuminating the space. Gerod was nowhere in sight. The pool still sizzled faintly, the energy within it pulsing like a living thing, but the ancient dragon had vanished.

Then, a loud growl from my stomach. I grimaced. Right. I hadn’t eaten since... hell, I wasn’t even sure when. The exhaustion of the past few days had dulled my hunger, but now, locked up in this cave with no obvious source of food, the need clawed at my gut.

I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling slowly. Was there even a way to get food here?

Gerod’s voice rumbled through the cave, low and commanding. "You can go out and hunt," he said. "But keep to the east side of the island."

I met his glowing golden eyes and gave a silent nod. There was no point in questioning his reasoning, Gerod always had his way of doing things, and I wasn’t in the mood to argue.

Without another word, I shifted, letting the raw power of my Lycan form take over. My bones stretched, muscles thickened, and in mere seconds, Gale stood in my place, eager and restless.

The cool morning air hit my fur as I dashed toward the east side of the island, my paws barely making a sound against the damp earth. The thick mist hung low, shrouding the land, but my heightened senses guided me through the dense trees.

It didn’t take long to find prey. Five large rabbits. They were fast, but I was faster. Each kill was swift and precise.

With my hunt complete, I gathered dry firewood, clutching it between my massive jaws before making my way back to Haven Cave.

Once inside, I shifted back to my human form and made my way to the meadow. That’s when I noticed it, a small pool in the corner, one that hadn’t been there the night before. The water shimmered unnaturally as if infused with the island’s ancient magic.

I narrowed my eyes, debating whether to ask Gerod about it, but in the end, I chose not to. Some things in the Haven weren’t meant to be questioned.

Instead, I focused on the task at hand. I skinned the rabbits, set up the fire using the wood I’d gathered, and slowly roasted the meat over the flames. The scent of cooked flesh filled the air, making my stomach tighten with hunger. I ate in silence, tearing into the roasted meat and letting the warmth settle inside me. I wasn’t fully satisfied, but it was enough. Enough to keep my strength up. Enough to be ready, because the Vampires were still lurking and I had no idea when it would be safe.

I leaned back on the soft meadow, my body finally relaxing as exhaustion pulled me under once more. This time, I was ready for the vision. The moment my consciousness slipped, I found myself standing in the shadows, watching Frery. But he was no longer in Paradise Coven City. He was in Kayne’s land, hidden within the secret chambers.

Frery moved restlessly, pacing in slow, measured steps. Then, suddenly, he stopped—as if he had sensed Gale’s presence. A familiar voice echoed through the mind link. "Are you both safe? We should be coming your way soon." It was Kayne.

Gale stirred beside me, his presence strong and unwavering. His impatience bled through the bond as he responded. "It is not safe for you to come. We plan on going back to Bay Shifter Pack for now. If we attempt to meet each other, the danger that lurks will finally catch up, and everything will end in bloodshed."

I watched as Frery’s brows furrowed in thought before he slowly nodded. Kayne’s voice came through once more, his words careful. "It makes sense. As long as you remain safe, I agree to the plan. But how are you dealing with the vampires in Hanka Island?"

Gale let out a low chuckle, his tone laced with amusement. "Hanka will deal with them."

There was a pause, a moment of unspoken understanding before Gale added softly, " Lily and Samuel Crest are the moles from the Bay shifter pack. They came to Paradise Coven to meet Marcel. You need to be careful and stay safe, my love.

With that, the vision shattered, and my eyes snapped open. I was back in the meadow, the glow of the hidden cave casting eerie shadows on the walls. My heartbeat was steady, and my body tense from the remnants of the vision.

I dozed on and off, my body caught between rest and the lingering tension of my visions. Then, suddenly, Gerod’s voice rose, deep and commanding, pulling me fully awake.

"Come to me."

I sat up instantly, blinking away the haze of sleep, then stood and hurried toward the main pool. What awaited me stole my breath. Standing by the pool, in all his terrifying majesty, was Gerod in his full dragon form. His golden eyes burned like molten fire, his scales shimmered with an ethereal glow, and the sheer force of his presence made the very air around him crackle with power.

I swallowed hard and stepped forward before bowing respectfully. "I am here."

Gerod’s gaze pierced through me before he finally spoke." Your Lycan wolf and its magic is a power that many seek. It is tied to everything in the realm, and unfortunately, mating with the Kayne vampire did not do justice to either of you. Instead, you are bound to live through a prophecy... and the greed that rose with it."

My fists clenched at his words, but I remained silent. Then he continued his voice grave.

"Althea, your grandmother, saved Hanka Island. But the backlash of the evil powers she fought against... ias drained her. She has battled for half her life, and now it has taken a toll on her. Soon, her life will perish."

I stiffened, a sharp gasp escaping me. "What?"

Gerod’s massive head dipped slightly, his glowing eyes locked onto mine. "You are lucky you have already met her. But now, you must return and bring her body to this pool. Give her an honorable send-off and let her rest.

I struggled to process his words, my mind racing with the weight of the task he had just given me. Bring Althea’s body here? That meant... that meant she truly didn’t have much time left.

Gerod’s voice cut through my thoughts. "The vampires have left Hanka Island."

I snapped my gaze back to him in shock. "How?"

A deep rumble of satisfaction echoed from his chest. "I used the mist to drive them away, confused them, and led them to their boats. They fled like the cowards they are."

Relief washed over me, and I allowed a small smile to break through my tension. "Thank you, Gerod."

He let out a low hum before his tone turned serious once more. "Remember to keep this place a secret. The ones in Blood Stone Mountain have been searching for it for centuries."

His warning sent a shiver down my spine, but I nodded in understanding. This place, Haven Cave, was more than just a sanctuary. It was a weapon. And if the wrong hands found it, the entire realm would suffer and more so the power of Gale.

I left Hanka Island as snow cascaded down the mountains, understanding now how Gerod wielded the power of the land itself to offer cover. The shifting mist, the snowfall, and the eerie silence, it was all part of his magic, a force older than time. With a deep breath, I shifted into my Lycan form, my muscles stretching and reforming as Gale surged forward, eager to take control. The ground blurred beneath my powerful strides as I moved toward the hidden caves that led to the Bay Shifter Pack.

The journey was swift, my senses on high alert. When I finally stepped onto Bay Shifter land, a heavy weight lifted from my chest. We were home.

Gale stretched out through the mind link, his presence brushing against the very land itself, connecting to the essence of the pack. But then, an energy shift. My muscles tensed as I sensed something lurking by the beach.

The Rogourau beast.

The tension in the air was unmistakable. The entire Bay Shifter Pack was on high alert. I could feel the wariness in their energies, the ripple of their heightened senses. Without hesitation, I launched forward, speeding toward the beach. The scent of salt and smoke filled the air, and when I arrived, I saw it, thick, dark smoke rising from the water. A deep, guttural growl built in my chest, and then—

Gale roared.

The sound ripped through the land, shaking the earth beneath us. It was a command, a declaration of power, a force that could not be ignored. Every guard stationed at the beach turned sharply at the sound, their bodies instinctively falling into position. Then, from the mist and smoke, the Rogourau beast responded.

A roar just as thunderous echoed back, the ground quaking beneath its power. The sound rippled through the very fabric of the Bay Shifter lands, a battle of dominance that was not meant to end in bloodshed but in acknowledgment.

The call of the Alpha had been answered.
