Chapter 117: ARE YOU MATED TO TOR GALE?

Chapter 117: ARE YOU MATED TO TOR GALE?

{ " In between the truth and a half lie"}

"Yes," Rou said smoothly, his voice carrying a sharp edge of amusement. "They are members of the Bay Shifter Pack council. I know Samuel Crest; he was the one who got kicked out of the Shifter council. If they’re here in Paradise Coven, it means they’re the moles feeding information about the Bay Shifter Pack... or worse."

I almost smirked. This was unfolding exactly as Ma and Dante had planned. They had orchestrated this moment to divert suspicion away from Tor’s presence in Paradise Coven, and judging by the way Lord Marcel’s expression darkened, it was working.

Lord Marcel’s gaze flicked back to Rou, and then, with barely concealed irritation, he addressed Ma. "Even though he is a guest of the Kayne, you should have reported this matter to the coven."

Ma nodded; her expression neutral. "I would have; had I been given the time. But instead, you stormed into my home unannounced, hunting for a Lycan you were ’informed’ was here. Your spies must have misled you because the only newcomer to Kayne land is Rou."

Silence stretched across the room, thick and charged. I could see the disbelief flickering in their eyes, the way their shoulders stiffened as if they were trying to convince themselves that we were lying. But there was no proof, no trail, no scent of Tor left behind. They had nothing. Ma had ensured to mask our cent and even her Vampire Mira powers were protecting us"

I leaned casually against the wall, watching them unravel, making fools of themselves with every passing second. Lord Marcel, clearly sensing that he was losing ground, turned abruptly and stalked toward me. His presence was meant to be intimidating, but I didn’t so much as blink when he stopped a mere breath away.

His eyes locked onto mine, sharp and searching, before he spoke. "Frery Kayne," he said, his voice quieter now but laced with a dangerous edge, "word from the Bay Shifter Pack says that the Lycan Alpha, Tor Gale, has mated with you—or your disguise, Freya. I want to confirm if this is true."

The room stilled. Dante’s jaw tensed. Ma’s expression remained unreadable. Rou tilted his head, watching the exchange with vague interest.

I let a slow smirk curve my lips knowing well the fucking bastard was looking for all ways to take me down. "Is that so?" I mused, tilting my head just slightly, my fangs glinting under the dim candlelight. "And if it were true, Lord Marcel... what would you do about it?"

"You would have betrayed the Coven, and for that, you would be a traitor, punished by the laws of the Coven!" Byron blurted out, his voice high with urgency.

I chuckled, the sound low and mocking, as I stepped even closer to Lord Marcel. We stood toe to toe, my eyes locked onto his, challenging him to say something more. I could see the flicker of hesitation in his gaze, the way his fingers twitched slightly at his side.

"Traitor?" I repeated, my voice dripping with amusement. "Lord Marcel, you seem to forget that you were the one who gave me a mission, to infiltrate the Bay Shifter Pack by any means necessary. So now, your mole tells you that Alpha Tor Gale is mated to me?" I arched a brow, tilting my head slightly. "And that’s enough for you to brand me a traitor?"

Lord Marcel’s eyes widened, and for the first time since he barged in, he took a step back. "That was the information Tor Gale himself gave during the council meeting," he admitted, though his voice lacked the certainty he had entered with.

I grinned, sharp and dangerous. "So, tell me, Lord Marcel... who do you believe? Me, or Tor?"

A thick silence followed, but before Lord Marcel could answer, Idris scoffed and spoke up, his tone laced with impatience. "We don’t have time for your games, Frery—"

The sharp sound of flesh meeting flesh echoed through the room.

Idris didn’t even have time to react before he was collapsing to the ground, unconscious.

All eyes snapped to Ma, who had moved with inhuman speed, her hand still poised from the slap she had just delivered. Then, as if nothing had happened, she returned to her place beside Dante and Rou.

"This is my home," she stated coldly, her eyes locking onto Lord Marcel’s with a dangerous gleam. "And I will not allow unruly behavior or yelling in my home. You either behave or leave"

It was comical to watch Lord Marcel struggle to maintain his composure, clearly out of his wits. He had no idea how to control Ma, who stood with an air of royal authority, despite the lesson she had just taught them.

"I heard that Freya, a beautiful woman, was mated to Alpha Tor Gale," Lord Marcel mused, his gaze flickering toward me. "But the word is that she disappeared into the mountains, and Tor went in search of her." His lips curled slightly, as if tasting something unpleasant. "I am looking at your son, Sierra, and I find myself wondering... can vampires truly mate with shifter wolves? In all my life, I have never heard of such a thing happening."

Dante shook his head. "Neither have I. Wouldn’t we be able to scent the blood of a shifter on a vampire?"

The room fell into a brief, tense silence as every eye turned toward me. I remained still, leaning against the wall with a lazy smirk as they all tried to scent the supposed "shifter blood" on me. I watched their faces shift, from curiosity to frustration, then to outright disappointment—as they realized the truth.

There was no trace of a shifter’s scent on me.

I chuckled darkly, crossing my arms over my chest. "And what are your findings, Lord Marcel?" I taunted; my voice laced with amusement.

His jaw tightened, his fangs peeking out slightly as he hissed in anger.

Without answering me, he turned sharply toward Ma, his voice regaining its authoritative edge. "Sierra, unfortunately, I must take your guest with me today."

Ma tilted her head slightly, considering his words, then gave a slow nod. "Very well," she said evenly.

Rou stepped forward without hesitation, his face unreadable as he walked toward the guards. His voice was calm as he spoke, "Come on, let’s go." I watched him, intrigued. He didn’t resist. He didn’t argue. That meant one thing and I knew he had a plan.

"I will accompany you," Ma stated firmly, stepping forward with that regal air she always carried.

Dante, standing tall beside her, nodded in agreement. "I will as well."

A tense silence settled over the room. The unease was palpable, thick enough to choke on. I could see it in the way Idris shifted uncomfortably, the way Byron’s hands twitched at his sides, and even in the way Lord Marcel’s jaw clenched as he mulled over Ma’s words. He knew refusing her would be a mistake.

Finally, with a sharp inhale through gritted teeth, Lord Marcel gave a stiff nod. "Fine."

And with that, they all turned and walked out of the Kayne home. The royal guards closed in around Rou, their disciplined steps echoing in unison as they led him away. Ma and Dante walked right behind them, their presence an unspoken warning. They weren’t just escorting Rou—they were watching, ensuring nothing went awry.

As Lord Marcel reached the doorway, he paused. His sharp eyes flickered back to me, lingering for a moment. There was something there—frustration, suspicion, maybe even anger. But he said nothing. Instead, with a final look, he turned on his heel and walked out.

The door shut behind them with a resounding thud.

Only then did I realize I had been holding my breath. A shaky exhale escaped me, and my legs, suddenly weak, gave out. I slid down against the wall, my back pressing against the cold wood as I sank to the floor. My hands trembled slightly, the adrenaline still coursing through me, but my eyes burnt with fury and w had bought time. For now.

I needed to get to Hanka Island, fast and without being followed.

Pacing up and down inside the house was doing nothing to calm me. My beast, Kayne, was growing restless, prowling beneath my skin, itching for movement. The walls felt like they were closing in, suffocating me and I needed to get out. Stepping outside, I expected the tense air to dissipate, but instead, I was met with an unwelcome sight. The royal guards were still stationed on Kayne’s land and my jaw clenched.

They spotted me instantly, their eyes flickering with unease, their stance rigid as if expecting me to attack. I ignored them, unwilling to give them the satisfaction of acknowledging their presence, and made my way toward my house in Paradise Coven city. As I walked past, they hesitated, then parted, allowing me to pass. I didn’t miss the way their hands twitched near their weapons, nor the wary glances they exchanged. Then, as if on some silent command, they followed.

"What the fuck?" My fists clenched at my sides, and I bit back a growl. Damn them. I could only curse inwardly as their footsteps shadowed mine, their presence a constant reminder that my every move was being watched.
