Chapter 105: Maxwell, we don’t talk about that in public
"Alright, so now that that’s decided, how are you two feeling? Are you alright?" Michael asked, in full Doctor mode. The way he spoke really helped Andrew calm down. If he had approached as his friend, Andrew felt he might have reacted poorly.
Shifting, so that he wasn’t blocking the full view of Maxwell like every fiber in his being was telling him to do, Andrew swallowed.
"Uh, well, I think it went pretty well. Max?" Andrew asked, glancing at the not new omega. Maxwell chuckled.
"Andrew did a great job keeping up with me. I was...apparently worse then I normally was." Maxwell’s ears were pink, but he wasn’t embarrassed. He seemed...happy? Proud? Andrew wasn’t sure what to call that expression.
Kim’s chuckle drew Andrew’s attention, and he turned to look between the two of them.
"Ah. Was that your first time with a true alpha, Maxy?" Kim asked, and Maxwell nodded. Kim’s expression softened. "Then I would suggest you adjust your normal. That’s bound to happen. It’s to keep up with your new partner. Your body subconsciously knows these kinds of things, and changes. Jenny said the same thing after her first time spending her heat with me. Well, not to me, obviously, but to her doctor." Andrew glanced at Michael to find him violently taking notes.
It appeared that Michael was learning a lot today, and so was Andrew.
"That’s so interesting." Michael muttered. "None of the books I read mentioned anything like this. Is this knowledge through word of mouth?" Michael asked, and Kim laughed.
"Well, most true alphas keep their knowledge to themselves, and it’s also not something most omegas without a long term partner would want to discuss. It’s also embarrassing to admit that you had a lower sex drive with other partners. It hurts alpha pride, and given that the omegas that are in our world usually bump shoulders with some alphas with pretty big egos..." Kim trailed off, raising her eyebrows.
Everyone got the message.
It was not something anyone would record down in fear of their life and livelihood. Michael nodded.
"Noted. If I make reference to it, I’ll speak about it like I discovered this amongst a different group." Michael, it appeared, had balls of steel, even after Kim basically warned him. Kim laughed.
"You might get yourself killed, Doctor." She warned lovingly, and Michael turned his face up and grinned at her. He glanced at the pair he was working with, and his grin widened.
"Nah. Andy likes me too much, and Mr. Beckett tolerates me. They’ll make sure I won’t be killed." Andrew laughed, shaking his head. He was right though. Andrew would do his best to make sure his friend didn’t die. Kim’s smile reached her eyes as she glanced between them.
"Well, as long as you keep Andy alive and well, I’ll throw my hat into the ring if your name comes up." Kim promised.
"Thank you." Michael said. "Alright, so Mr. Beckett seems to be doing...well. Has this loss of walking been persistent?" He asked and Andrew sighed.
"It’s more like...wobbly legs? He can walk, just not for long periods of time. It’s not a complete loss." Maxwell chuckled.
"Andrew took good care of me." He joked, and Andrew felt his face heat. Kim laughed, and even Michael cracked a smile.
"I see. I will make sure to make a note of that. Did you run out of anything?" Michael asked and Andrew sighed. He ran his hand through his hair, nervous.
"Yes. Condoms. We almost ran out of our solution, but Maxwell’s heat dimmed at the right time." Michael’s eyes widened.
"Well, I’ll make sure we have twice as many for your rut, Andrew. We cannot have you running out during yours." Maxwell nodded sagely from his spot on the couch.
"Absolutely not. Neither Andrew nor I are ready for that kind of thing." Maxwell said, and everyone ignored the slight sigh of disappointment from Kim.
"I’m glad you two are being responsible at the very least. Can I...ask what the solution was?" Kim asked delicately, and Andrew glanced at Maxwell. Maxwell didn’t seem embarrassed in the slightest, and actually seemed excited to talk about it. He shifted on the couch, a slight glimmer in his eyes.
"Kim, have you heard about fake cum before?" He was so excited that Andrew had to turn away, his whole body trembling. He was glad that he had such a positive experience with it, but my god, people didn’t normally talk about it with such enthusiasm.
Michael coughed, turning away as well as Kim was left alone with the omega who’d just come out of his first heat with a true alpha. Who had no idea what fake cum was prior to this. Kim, covering her mouth, widened her eyes and shook her head. Andrew knew she was doing her best.
"I haven’t. No. N-Not the faintest clue." Maxwell, for once, had no idea that everyone was humouring him, and that alone made this more precious to Andrew.
It was too bad that he couldn’t keep it together to witness the moment.
"I had no idea either, until Andrew brought it up! It’s amazing for heats! I never knew it existed until about a week ago!" Andrew wanted to bottle up his enthusiasm for something so inappropriate and keep it in his pocket forever. Should he record this? Would that be okay? The moment might already be gone, but dear lord was it so fucking cute.
"O-Oh! That’s wonderful news. I-I’ll have to tell others." Kim nearly choked on the words, and Michael coughed again. Andrew had to keep his mouth shut or he was going to burst into uncontrollable laughter. His body was already not his own, and he knew he’d be in trouble if Maxwell saw his face.
"I would tell others too, but I don’t know many other omegas, and it feels a bit strange to tell it to my brother’s partners. For the most part, they’re trying for children, so I don’t think it would help them." Maxwell’s matter-of-fact statement sent Andrew over the edge.
"Bathroom." He managed to get out before he rushed across the room, leaving the two alphas alone with his omega.
It was a desperate time. If he didn’t, he might get kicked out of his own bed. He wouldn’t risk it.

It took Andrew a full ten minutes before he had composed himself, and when he came back and nothing had changed, he felt a little bit more like himself. He even sniffed, and noticed that Maxwell’s scent had dimmed even more. He was getting safe to be around. Soon, he would be able to go back to work.
Andrew’s soft smile made Maxwell turn in his direction, and without a hesitation, Andrew moved towards him and wrapped an arm around him. Maxwell buried his face into Andrew’s shirt, inhaling his scent and a soft, warm spot in his chest bloomed. Maxwell was so precious to him.
"Well, now that you’ve gone to the bathroom, can I continue with my questions?" Michael asked, his tone neutral. Kim seemed to be trying to control herself.
"Kim, why don’t you go to the bathroom? You seem a bit..." Andrew offered, giving her an out. She nodded, hastily going off in the direction that Andrew had, leaving the three of them alone.
"Do I smell?" Maxwell asked softly, worried, and Andrew shook his head.
"Hmm. Your scent is actually decreasing. Maybe she ate something that didn’t agree with her?" Andrew boldly suggested, and Michael coughed. He was good at hiding his laughter. He must have had to train for it.
"Well, I’ll take your word for it." Maxwell muttered, and both of them turned their attention to Michael.
"Anything strange you noticed Maxwell? I’m sure most memories from your heat have come back. Anything you noticed out of the ordinary?" Andrew watched Maxwell, and noticed a slight shift in his expression. He glanced at Andrew, and Andrew was surprised. He was...nervous.
"Uh..." He trailed off, and Andrew had a distinct feeling that Maxwell didn’t want him to be there. It should have hurt, but it really didn’t. If Maxwell didn’t want him to know, that was okay, and he was feeling better enough that he could leave the two of them alone. As long as he could see them.
"It’s alright Angel. You two can talk alone. I’ll go to the kitchen so that I can see you, but you two can have some privacy. I’m feeling better now, especially since your scent has dimmed again." Maxwell looked relieved.
"You aren’t upset?" He asked softly, and Andrew swooned. Leaning in, he pressed a kiss against his forehead.
"No, not at all. It’s not like you’re keeping it a secret, you just want some privacy. I’m sure you’ll tell me when you feel the time is right." Maxwell’s body relaxed and he let out a relieved sigh.
"Of course. Thank you." Maxwell told him, and Andrew stared down at the man who’d just had his wicked way with him for four full days. What wouldn’t he do for Maxwell?
"You don’t even need to ask. Michael, give me a wave when you are ready to have me come back." Michael nodded. "Oh, and send Kim to the kitchen as well. Give yourselves some more privacy." Michael nodded again, focused on writing everything down. One could never say that Michael didn’t take his work seriously.
Giving Maxwell one last forehead kiss, Andrew detached himself from him, and watched as Maxwell’s face fell. Blinking, Andrew stared down at him.
"What’s wrong?" He asked, and watched as Maxwell struggled with himself before he finally sighed.
"Can I...Can I have your shirt? For comfort?" Andrew had to turn his face away, covering his mouth to hide the big, stupid grin that crossed his face. It was clear that Maxwell thought he was upset, but Andrew wasn’t going to let that thought last for a second. Ripping his shirt off and over his head until he was bare chested in the living room, Andrew handed it over. Andrew didn’t care if it revealed how beaten, bitten and battered his skin was.
As long as it comforted Maxwell.
"Here you go Angel. Anything else?" Andrew asked sweetly, and Maxwell shook his head, pressing his face into the crumpled up shirt in his hands. Andrew grinned, before heading off to the kitchen, his heart racing in his chest. The man was too. Freaking. Cute!
