Sydney looked at Titan with her big eyes that were inquiring about his sudden sour mood.

Titan said nothing, he walked over and wrapped his hand around Sydney’s waist possessively.

Sydney let out a small laugh and leaned her head on his chest. "Calm down!" She soothed him by rubbing at his bare chest with her soft hands and looked at the kings that were far away from them. "In two days from now, you can bring the willing warriors to help with the training." She chose to end this discussion.

The Kings didn’t drag this matter anymore and went back to their respective clans.

Sydney turned to Titan once there were no more outsiders near. "Why the bitter mood? Those men are already mated!" she looked in his eyes that were heavy with emotions.

"I still don’t like it when they look at you! I want to gogue out their eyes.." he hissed.

Haha ..so petty. I think this should make you proud! They can look all they want but can’t touch since I’m yours, right?!" she teased him and Titan’s mood improved. Sydney felt that the acid like feeling in her chest had gone and she sighed.

Controlling the effect of her mates emotions was her business and she had to do it on her own. There was no way she could tell them to stop expressing their emotions. However, their emotions were too heavy for her to bear. She needed to find means of dealing with them as soon as possible.

"I’ll bring you home to eat." Titan informed her and carried her out of the Beast school and they walked back home. Though the sun was high up in the sky, it wasn’t scorching. She liked the feel of it on her skin.

The journey back was in comfortable silence and many beastmen along the way couldn’t help looking at the pair with envy.

The news of Sydney officially mating with the city lord and her other chosen Mayes had long spread among the single beastmen. It was natural since Sydney was an exceptionally pretty female and many still coveted her.

But who was daring to approach her when she was in the arms of the scary snake beast?!

When they reached home, Sydney jumped down from Titan’s arms and ran inside the house. They had left the house in a mess in the morning but she was surprised to find it squeaky clean! She had an idea of who it was but didn’t po der long on that matter.

Titan followed behind her and kept his gaze on her petite but firm back. He watched her as she rummaged through the kitchen and couldn’t help smiling.

Let me." he urged and took a stone bowl to go get her food. Sydney accepted the warm potatoes and salad. She begun to eat with joy.

Not long, her bowl was empty and Titan brought more food over and he felt satisfied just watching her eat.

You know..." Sydney begun. While I was helping the little guys settle in, I thought of something." She looked up from her food and gave Titan and intense gaze.

"What is it?" Titan asked as he lazily leaned into the table to get a better look at her.

Why is it that I haven’t seen or heard you talk about your family? Where are they?" She asked making the latter freeze and immediately break eye contact.

Sydney who had foresaken her meal noticed his behaviour. " You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to." She stopped probing and continued to eat like she never asked.

Titan who had gone down the memory lane looked up at his mate and didn’t know what to say. He remained silent and became dazed for a short while before he opened his mouth to speak.

"I’m the last born from my batch. After we broke from our shells, we didn’t get to live with our mother for long. She...she was sick when she had us and giving birth to us worsened her already terrible situation. This made our father not like us at all. When mother died, father was so angry and had also lost himself. Me and my brothers ran away from home before our father could kill us." he recited everything with a broken voice but his expression was blank, almost dead.

Sydney regretted opening her mouth to ask such questions. She had always wondered why beastmen were extremely possessive of their females and it took a few experiences to understand and this ..was one of them.

Male beastmen grew up in a competitive environment. Being born in large numbers, during their childhood, they competed for their mother’s love with their own fathers and the matter only worsened if the female had many males. Once they were weaned off milk, that was the most of the motherly love they’d ever get to experience.

Growing up, they watched their fathers and mothers love and dreamt for the same which made their possessive characters.

Many had never grown from those experiences and were still children in grown bodies who feared being abandoned.

"I’m sorry." She whispered. Sorry for being selfish and sorry for bringing back painful memories.

Titan looked back at Sydney and smiled. "You don’t have to be sorry. You are my family now and I know you’ll never leave me abandon me nor not want me anymore, right?!." he smiled with a child like innocence in his eyes.

Sydney nodded but her heart felt bitter.

"Oh...there are many snakelings out there. I’ll invite them to see if they are interested in staying at the school." He said with a sudden excitement in his eyes.

Initially, he hadn’t taken much consideration about his clan’s matters but this small talk with Sydney made him remember. He didn’t actually plan to give them some form of fatherly love but a warm home and brothers to grow with was great!

His brothers had been there for him as he grew. Though some abandoned him along the way to go on with their lives, he was still thankful for their contributions to his life. He had been young and weak and the consequences would be dire for him had he been in his own.

Actually, when he was old enough, he went to visit them but he wasn’t really welcomed. They feared he’d snatch their females from them but that hadnt been the case. He was only there to see them but they didn’t want to see him.

That’s a great idea!" Sydney was happy to get him distracted from his bad memory but in looking at his expression, there seemed to be another spark of innocence in him. Sydney downed her food as fast as she could and jumped down from the dinning table.

"Water!!" Titan brought a glass and helped her take a few mouthfuls.

He placed the cup on the counter and came to carry her away. "Are we going to the forest?" She asked her hands tightly wrapped around his neck for support.

"No..we will first head to the snake castle." he said and half shifted into his half beast form and headed out immediately.

They arrived at the snake castle in a few minutes and the chief was happy to see Titan visiting. This was the first time Titan had come over.

Sydney got down from Titan’s hand and looked at the different snake beastmen around. If one didn’t know any better, they’d think it’s just a group of cold but extremely good looking persons. They also looked at her with curiosity but didn’t come forward.

I’m here to talk to all of you." Titan said and the cheif was delighted.

Yes..yes...I’ll get everyone to gather at the main hall!" This was a word Sydney had taught them and it was included in the construction of the snake castle.

The chief led the way while hale asked the guards to go and gather everyone over.

Sydney who refused to be carried around again had her hands clasped together with those of Titan. It was a PDA but who could say a word?

They walked for a while through various corridors before coming before the main hall. The place was huge like a whole stadium and had a podium at the centre. It was no different from the grounds where males fought to gain the female’s favour but this was specifically for the snake clan.

She was zooming out and admiring the place when she was accidentally bumped into. She staggered but Titan was fast and immediately held her before she fell to he ground.

The female who bumped into her was so scared that she jumped a few feet from where Sydney was. She was at most a teenager
