Chapter 81: Shawn’s attacked

The eagle beastman who had been keeping an eye out for Shawn was also caught off guard when he zoomed in on Shawn. He was attacked!? He let out a screech and shot downwards to go scoop Shawn from there and bring him to the skies but midway, he too was attacked by three fifth rank falcons.

He hissed in anger as he realised where all this was coming from. He dodged from one side but still suffered a very bad scratch. He let out a cry which alerted Shawn.

Shawn was no better as he battled those that surrounded him from below. The forest canopy wasn’t dense in this area and four falcon beasts kept attacking him and scratching his back with their sharp claws.

He ignored their attacks as it was useless, he did his best to dodge and find denser canopies to keep from the group.

"Don’t let him get away!!" one of the falcons hissed and shifted into his human form before he gave chase. Their wide canopies wouldn’t allow them to fly in dense trees.

The battle in the sky didn’t last long before the eagle beastman was thrown from the sky after one of his wings were ripped to the point of falling off. He let out a pained cry as he descended from the sky and crashed hard into the ground creating a dent.

His cry pierced through Shawn’s heart and he stopped in his tracks. He turned to run back and find the eagle beastman but he was soon surrounded. His nose tingled at the revolting Falcon stench. It was these guys!!

He hadn’t offended a single soul! "Why are you hunting me down?" Shawn asked seeing that he was outnumbered. His ears felt all movemoaround him and he could deduce that there were around eight falcons.

"Ha!" The other party sneered. "Look at him! He’s so daring now that he has a female!" Jealousy could literally be seen dripping from the falcon warrior’s mouth.

"You haven’t answered my question!" Shawn was really angry now.

"What are you going to do about it?" The falcon warrior asked with contempt.

"Hey...let’s do what we are here to do and leave!" The other said.

"What? Is that even still possible? He has clearly noticed us!" the leader yelled.

Shawn looked at them and for some reason, he was reminded of Ken. If they wanted to be discreet, didn’t they need not to expose themselves and deliver a substantial attack?

"Then what do we do?" the subordinate asked.

"Kill him!" The leader said confidently. There was no objection from their king anyway and besides, Shawn didn’t have anyone backing him up. He wasn’t a prince or something! He was just a discarded cripple!

"But..." another subordinate stammered. He didn’t like the feeling of this.

Shawn felt extremely bored! "Are you done? I need to be somewhere right now!" He didn’t bother taking them seriously. Who even did? the whole city didn’t take the falcon clan seriously.

This form of undermining had the leader grit his teeth in anger! In a for of rage, he didn’t bother with his subordinates and pounced on Shawn. Having already predicted this move, Shawn dodged but was attacked by another. He was outnumbered but so what?! He had a task to fulfill by tomorrow morning! Sydney was waiting for him at home.

The fighting that started as a stupid duel became a real battle. Shawn was covered in claw marks and blood begun to coat his fur yet at the same time, he wasn’t going down. His opponents were in no better state. Of the eight assaulters, two were down and one dead. He seemed to become much stronger the more he fought!

Sydney felt her back itch a little and she gave it a little scratch but the itch wouldn’t stop making her a little irritated.

Her action of scratching brought attention to her and she was forced to stop and find a convenient place to do so.

"Ish...what!! Did I wear a caterpillar in my clothes??!" She grumbled as she tried to reach for her back. Her fingers were a little salty from the sweat and whenever she accidentally touched a part of her, it pained her alot!

Ash who was dealing with Scott on how to make Sydney a new pair of shoes felt her discomfort and frowned.

What?" Scott asked and Ash shook his head but his heart was a little uncomfortable. He put down the half made shoe and stood up. Scott frowned and followed him standing up to see what was going on!

"I’m not sure but Sydney is feeling uncomfortable! I need to go check on her" Ash said.

They both exited the house to find Sydney.

Titan who was dealing with a group of teachers that were going to handle hunting classes halted what he was saying and hissed in the direction Sydney was at. He said nothing and left to find her.

Sydney found a desolate corner and tried to see what was wrong with her back but not long, claw marks appeared on her arm and it was painful! She groaned and lifted her arm to look but her vision failed her and she stumbled to the ground before she fell.

Sydney was confused and this time she let out a pained cry from scrapping her hands on the small stones as more claw marks appeared on her back.

A few cubs that were playing nearby ran over to see what was going on and soon, Ash and the others also made haste but what they found left them shocked.

Sydney was on the ground in distress feeling around almost like she couldn’t see. Her eyes were wide open but no image was in her sight. Everything was covered in white bright light.

"Ahhh...what’s wrong!! Ash! Titan!! Guys ..what’s happening!!?". she asked as her eyes darted around in distress. She whimpered from the pain.

Caden rushed to her side and scooped her into his arms.

"Caden?!" she called him as she felt his familiar arms wrap around her. But far from that, he was trembling like a leaf under a violent storm.
