Chapter 59: Chapter 57 Stunned.

Titan made his way to the courtyard with all the food. Seeing the unseen powerful beast get into the city lord’s home, the beastmen knew a battle would soon ensure but no one dared to go near. They’d only wait till tomorrow morning to see what beastman had made its way into the city.

Once he placed all the prey in the courtyard, Caden and Ken came over to clean it while Titan took his human form and walked into the home.

It was warm! Very warm!!! He liked it so much....

"Titan..your back!! Come...I’ll show you to your room!" Sydney said as she took Titan’s hand in her own. "Wait!" he stopped her.

Sydney looked lost for a moment but remembered that his scales were poisonous and hence to stay safe, he first surpressed his poison leaving him blue.

Seeing that he was now safe, he smiled and gave his hand to Sydney to hold. She hid the pain she felt for him and took his hand. They made their way to the second floor.

"This is where our rooms are. Those five are taken " She pointed to her and the others rooms. "But there are still other four on this floor. You can choose the one you want. We had installed stone beds in them but you can put what’s more comfortable for you..." She rattled on but Titan’s attention was solely on her, he flicked his tongue and her scent was all over the place.

"Home is very beautiful!" he praised and Sydney smiled with a grin.

"It’s my dream home!" she sighed. Oh...there’s something fun! Come , I’ll show you!" she took hold of his hand and dragged him downstairs again. Ken, Ash, Caden and Shawn said nothing about it. She took him to her swing. It was made of fine trees and strong tree ropes held the wooden seat

"You see...Ash made me this! It’s very fun to play with!" she boasted. "Let me show you!" Sydney said and immediately went to sit on the wooden swing. She pushed herself to and fro and was delighted that it was sturdy!

Titan watched with interest as she swung to and fro. It was like how monkeys do! He smiled but didn’t say a word about his thoughts. "Are you enjoying yourself?" Titan asked as he didn’t know what to say to her.

"That’s a given!" Sydney replied and stopped playing. "You’ve never played on it right?! Come...I’ll let you play in it just once!" she knew how much fun it was and didn’t even want to think of having someone fight with her for the swing.

"I don’t really need to." he wanted to decline.

"I’m inviting you..." Her excited expression begun to crack. She really wanted to let him play only once but he....

"Okay. I’ll play... thank you for allowing me!" Titan relented and walked over to the swing. "Good!" Sydney was happy and she walked over to his side. "Make sure to hold the ropes tightly or else you can fly off if you go too high. Also, don’t squirm, seat steady." she instructed them looked towards his legs that were holding his weight up. They were too long! Ash made this swing with her in mind.

’Arghh... whatever!’ "Fold your legs behind you. I’ll push you!" Sydney ordered and Titan had no other choice but to do as told. When he set all his weight on the seat, there was a snapping sound and he fell to the ground. The wooden seat snapped into half and the rest of the swing followed the same fate.

Sydney didn’t even get the chance to push Titan to enjoy the previlege and her swing met it’s death!? Her face was contured in thousands of emotions but pain for her loss was the most evident. She wanted to cry but.....it was her who invited him!

Titan stood up from the ground with a helpless and sorry look. He shifted his gaze between Sydney and her swing.

He was doomed!!!!

Sorrow begets happiness.

The kitchen window faced this part of the courtyard and the four men of the house has been watching the exchange with Very bitter expressions. Ken looked the worst since Sydney never invited him to play with her. She even had him beaten for covering her swing but she had happily brought the snake beast to play and it had destroyed her swing. ’Humph, very well deserved for her!’

The food was cooked and there remained alot of meat. Sydney hated wasting food!

Shawn went to get Sydney over but she was already in the sitting room silently seated.in a daze. She treasured that swing so much and now that it was ’dead’ she had no idea how to feel. Ash had made it for her...she treasured it! Would he become irritated if she requested him to mend it again?

Titan didn’t dare enter the house since Sydney hadn’t said a single word to him.

The next morning came and the outside of the courtyard was filled with beastmen who were spectating and the different beast kings. News that a very strong beastman who couldn’t be seen was spotted entering the house of the city lord’s mate with prey. As bizarre as it may have sounded, everyone wanted to know which beast had come into the city.

"Eagle king ..have you not heard from your son yet?" Leopard king asked with concern.

"Don’t worry! I know he is fine..wherever he is." Eagle king said dismissively.

"Entering another’s territory without informing them is clear provocation! But since the city lord is absent, we must come to an agreement as the present leaders." the lion king spoke up and everyone nodded.

The king’s stepped into the courtyard of the home only to be welcomed by a strong scent of a snake beast! It was so strong that the feline beastmen had to scrunch their noses in irritation.

"Snake beast!!!" The leopard king was livid. He turned to look at the snake cheif who had an equally surprised expression.. There had been rumours going around about the presence of a very formidable snake beast who was even stronger than the city lord. He had thought it was mere hype and excitement from his clansmen who had not had many that rank up that high since most that reached the ninth rank couldn’t handle their poison and died from it. Hence most snake beastmen that ranked up were at the eighth rank!

But now that he was in this place, he finally understood what his clansmen meant! This snake lord was indeed formidable! He felt so proud and couldn’t wait to meet their king! Finally! Even the snake beasts had a king who was as good as a lord!

"Does your clan have anything to do with this??" The leopard king was displeased. His natural instincts told him they wouldn’t be able to defeat whoever had taken over this place.

"It is my doing!" The Falcon king stepped forward proudly and the murmurs from the city residents erupted.

"What are you aiming at?!" The fox king asked. Their clan was the slyest around but he didn’t expect this skunky king to go to such lengths!

"I remember I told you about it." The falcon king sneered. "But what?! You all ignored me so I had to prove myself! I told you there was a snake beast who qualified to become the city lord and my clansmen went to invite him over! After alot of hurdles, we finally manage to convence him to join our city! And besides, this is the best looking house in the city of beasts. Isn’t it only right for the lord of the city to take it?!"

"You have really crossed the line falcon king!" Leopard king snarled viciously.

*I’ve done nothing wrong!" Falcon king shrugged his shoulders innocently. I only thought our city was under bad leadership and invited over a more capable beastman. Let’s meet him first... you’ll know that there shall be no choice like this again!" he persuaded and all the other weak hearted kings gave it some thought.

Slowly one after the other, they begun to nod.

Inside the house, Sydney slept soundly. She still had her cycle and was down on energy thanks to the limited foods available.

Her males on the other hand were wide awake watching her. They didn’t even have the heart to entertain the intruders. All energy was wasted in basking in her sweet heat scent.

A knock on the main door interrupted them and Sydney stirred awake. All five men who had stubbornly chose to sleep in her room held their breathes with sour emotions! They dare to wake her up!?

Sydney however only tossed a bit and went back to sleep. Titan stood up and signaled for them that he was heading out.

The falcon king didn’t hear a thing after the first knock and wanted to knock a second time but the door was drawn open. A relatively muscular man with a scaly body stood there, his golden pupils turning into slits as he let out an irritated hiss.

Everybody present could feel his power and unconsciously backed off. It was a natural instinct law..the weaker ones feared the strongest. Titan scanned through the horde of beasts in his territory with clear annoyance. He shut the door behind him gently so as not to startle Sydney awake and walked over. With each step he took, every one who had made it into the courtyard backed off until they stood outside the stone fence.

They realised it way too late! He hadn’t said a word but a chill was down their spines with only his actions.

Once he made sure that no one was in his territory, he turned to head back inside but was stopped.

"Snake beast! Please wait!" The falcon king called out urgently. It was his clan that had invited the snake beast into the city..he ought to give him some face, right?!

Titan halted his steps and looked back, his golden hair that reached his lower back sparkled with the morning rays, the other side of his face covered in a shadow giving him an angel-devil ambiance.

"We..welcome to your city! We are the kings of different clans..." he begun to speak despite the pressure he was under.

The main entrance was thrown open as Sydney ran out with excitement with shoes in her hands. Ash had told her first thing when she woke up that he and Titan had replaced her swing last night with a much more sturdy one. She who had slept with a very weird mood couldn’t wait to go check it out but what she didn’t expect was the find the entrance of her home crowded with beastmen. She hadn’t bothered to wash her face or comb her hair but she looked exceptionally cute.

Her presence shocked everyone as they observed her morning beauty.

She saw Titan against the city kings and was further surprised. Ash, Caden, Shawn and Ken walked out of the house and stood right behind her. The scene was picturesque! Bathed in the morning sun’s glory, Sydney and her family looked like something out of the world. An ethereal female amidst ferocious beasts!

Titan didn’t bother with the group of Intruders and walked over to Sydney’s side with steady and majestic steps. She had no shoes on as they hung from her small hands. Caden had told him of this habit of hers.

Let me." He said and went down on one knee to help her out on her shoes. This scene left the Falcon king’s heart in his mouth.
