Carlos made himself comfortable to listen to what his fellow king had to say.

Flacon king remained silent but his chest kept heaving heavily...he was so angry that all he saw was blood red. He glared at his subordinates in anger. How had Carlos returned without him knowing a thing?! Was he going to be come a laughing stock now?! He scanned through the eagle clan members only to see them look at him with scorned smirks on their faces. He hated that look the most!

He scoffed. "Just because you returned doesn’t mean I won’t challenge your clans title!"

"As much as I’d really love to entertain your tantrums, I think our primary focus should he on ensuring that the city is safe." Carlos spoke and walked over. "Your kind has been so lax which contributed to the previous stray invasion. You did not even alert a single soul and had it not been for the wolf Prince realising this soon, the circumstances would have been dire. Don’t let your selfish greed cost your tribe a spot in the city of beasts."

"Are you threatening me?! How dare you?!"

"I’m only returning the favour Falcon king. Don’t forget, many other tribes that still roam outside the city of beasts would very much like to take your spot. So be useful and keep in your lane, otherwise, you’ll never know what hit you!" Carlos concluded with a cold look. He hated dealing with mentally unstable things.

"You ..you....!" Falcon king was soon vomiting blood. His clan member rushed over and whispered something in his ear.

Falcon king whose face was red with anger was so surprised and looked at his aide. "Don’t joke about this!!!"

"I dare not my king. He’s headed this way and thousands of snake beasts are tailing him!" the aide reported. Flacon kings facial expressions turned from excitement to deviousness. He had worn!

"Hahahaha....now now...Eagle king my old friend, the tables just turned on you! Hahahaha!!!" he laughed that the initially happy eagle beastmen were confused.

"My King...what’s goinng on?!" One of the warriors couldn’t stop himself from asking. That kind of look wasn’t one that came with good news. What was happening that they didn’t know about?!

Stamina challenged, Sydney and her group reached the city of beasts location by evening. Sydney who had been riding on Ash leaped off his back with unsteady steps and stumbled her way to a tree where she threw up. She almost threw up her intestines too.bHer stomach churned and bile rose to her throat. Tears fell from her eyes...that was utterly uncomfortable!!!

This experience was far off worse than those amusement park rides, not even bungee jumping or sky diving equated. She turned pale and slumped down onto the ground all weak and feeble. The others had also stopped and were shocked to see her in that state, it was pitiful!

Ash was at a loss on what to do in her state. "I’m so..I’m so sorry Sydney...I.." He didn’t expect it to time out this way. He had kept asking if she was alright and she even laughed it off as thrilling! Seems Sydney had officially murdered her chance for future thrills in the future!

"Don’t fret!" she waved him off. "You are so capable!" she praised weakly and wiped the tears that were blurring her eye sight.

"We are home. Please hold in a little longer okay?!" Shawn rushed to her side and comforted her. He tried to tame her hair but having been untamed for a while....it wasnt hard to tell what state it was in. Even a bird’s nest was neat!

"Yes...we are home!" she laughed and looked at the five men. "Thank you so much for coming for me." Sydney took a closer look at all the men before her. She was so lucky!!!

"It’s what we had to do." Caden replied in behalf of the others.

"Yes...better than you needing us to come, we had to find you or we’d be as good as dead!" Ken muttered.

"Thank you for staying safe." Shawn caressed the side of her face he stood at. Nothing mattered now that she was home and safe.

Sydney looked at Titan who was silently watching them but he only stayed at the sidelines like an outsider that he was.

Was this it?? Does she not want me anymore? Should I say goodbye? Guess so! But I really don’t want to part with her..Can I ask her to stay? Will it be okay with her?? But I’m a cold beastman!

The others felt bad for him. He was a good team mate despite his origin. He wasn’t utterly possessive or annoying! He also hadn’t tried to snatch her away! They wanted to speak up for him but this was Sydney’s family and she chose who stayed and who left.

"Titan.." Sydney called out the beastman from his thoughts. "Do you have a home to go to?!" she asked. She could tell he was a loner but she didn’t wish to impose it on him to follow her home.

"Can I come home with you?" Titan asked as the disbelief that masked his dull golden eyes vanished for them to shimmer to life. They turned to slits as he took in Sydney’s facial expression. This moment would remain forever engraved in his mind, even to the time where he was no longer himself. The day she asked him to go home with her!

Though it wasn’t a complete affirmation of his status in the family, he was someone who was close to her!

"If you want to...I..." Sydney begun but was cut off by a smiling Titan.

"I’m coming! I’m coming home with you! I’ll protect you with my life. Thank you! Thank you so much! I want nothing but to come home with you!" He didn’t allow her to say more afraid she’d change her mind.

Sydney smiled sadly. He was too eager...such a sad emotion. If she hadn’t observed him for the past three days, she wouldn’t have agreed to have him go home with her. Despite being highly ranked, he was a down to earth beastman. He ensured communication among the four which was beyond her, he planned and suggested great ideas. She too had learnt a few things from him. Also, the others were okay with him unlike the reaction before she accepted Ken.

"We will go at a much slower pace from here on wards. By night fall, we will be in our home." Ash told Sydney who nodded with a soft smile.

Ken handed Shawn the skin bag that contained Sydney’s things. "Hold this! I’ll go out and hunt!" he said but was stopped by Titan. "Let me go!" he spoke and everyone looked at him. "Just..tell me which animal is Sydney’s favourite. I’ll get it and get enough for all of us." He said and Ash nodded in approval.

"I’m not picky, Titan. I’ll eat what you guys will have." She stopped Shawn who was about to talk of her favourite foods.

"Okay then! I’ll head out and come later on." Titan said then disappeared off into the forest to hunt food for his family!

"Tsk...look how happy he is!" Ken couldn’t hold his tongue back.

Sydney glared hard at him. "And for a moment I thought you had become a better version of yourself!"

"Is it wrong to speak!" Ken begun.

"Let’s go Sydney. Ken is a pup.....at heart!" Shawn said so casually that it left everyone aghast. No one expected such harsh words to come out of the silent Shawn’s mouth.

"I dare you to repeat that!" Ken growled. This blind beastman had grown some balls lately!!!

"Should I throw him out?" Sydney asked and Caden gave it some serious thought. "It’s not a bad idea." he agreed.

Ash smiled seeing how she was busy teasing Ken. "Alright. Let’s head out already! We don’t want Titan finding us here!" he said and they left as soon as possible.

They didn’t expose their return to the city and headed for Sydney’s home. The doors went open and Sydney took in the scent of her home. It was a little dusty since it hadn’t been maintained for a while but it was like she had left it.

Ash set her down and Sydney almost cried. Two lion cries attracted her attention and she looked over to see the two brothers already waiting for her.

"Guys!!!" she cried out as she went over to their side. They also ran to catch up with her and the trio tousled in the courtyard. Youngest who was most close to her lapped at her cheek. He missed her but knew that she was with her family. He only had to wait.

Ken was extremely displeased and went to where the trio lay laughing. He pulled Sydney from them with a ferocious growl. "Do something! If not get the hell out of here!" he bellowed and took the stupified Sydney into the house.

By the time they were in her room, Shawn had finished polishing the place clean. Caden had pit the fire torches in the house and it was illuminated entirely.

Ash took out clean hides and went to replace those that covered the furniture in the seating room. Everybody got extremely busy except for Sydney.

Ken came to the first floor and handed both brothers big stone bowls. "Go fetch water!" and he went to the kitchen where he busied himself washing the utensils.

Shawn boiled Sydney’s bath water and delivered it to her in the bedroom.

After everthing was squeaky clean and everyone finally taking a break, Titan returned home with four dead hippos each of them with a part of his snake body coiled around them. He had majestically sauntered through the city with his comuflage cloak on. So all the beastmen still walking around only saw the dead prey being dragged off by something they didn’t see.
