"It’s clear that the female sent by the beast god went missing under their care! If not, why don’t they have the answer to the questions we posed to them?!" The with master snarled.

"Are you trying to imply something witch master?! In what position are you to say anything right now?!" The wolf king asked with a grim expression.

"Why can’t I say what is needed to be said?! You are only trying to defend your son but that doesn’t justify the fact that he and the whole group is incompetent of caring for a female!" The witch master sneered.

"Those questions should be posed to the eagle clan!" The falcon king said from the side. "But where is he?! If our sky defences are under such incompetent clans, we can always expect the worst incase of raids. Both Prince and King are the same. But the falcon tribe is different. We aren’t prideful." The falcon king said looking through all the other kings. True to his words, the eagle clan were very proud beastmen but they were loyal...something the falcon clan lacked.

"Falcon king...don’t try to divert the topic of tonight to sate your selfish desires." Fox king jeered as he looked on with contempt.

"I’m only speaking for the safety of the city." The falcon king flared seeing that his plans were being swept under the rug. If he could take this opportunity and take over the king of sky title, there was so much he’d gain at the end of the day and all that had to happen when Carlos wasn’t present.

"They left without informing anyone and we only learnt of the absence of the female days later. We could blame her other mates but I don’t dare say so for the city lord." The lion king spoke and the place fell into silence.

There was indeed no way the female could have gone missing when the city lord was there. They had to give them a benefit of doubt and wait a little longer.

"I’m against that idea! The city lord has indeed been of help to us and so were his parents but if there are more capable beastmen that can fill the seat, then why should we entertain him?" Flacon king spoke.

"And what are you trying to mean?!" The leopard king who was Ash’s close friend snarled bitterly.

"I got intel a few days ago from a group of my clansmen who were out inspecting the outermost boarders. The forest bed was filled with thousands of snake beastmen who were fulfilling the command of their lord. My clansmen inquired and were told that their snake lord had just got out of hybernation and summoned them all over. If we can invite him over to be the city lord, we won’t have to solely rely on Lord Ash and besides, news must have spread far and wide...have any of you thought of the consequences incase of a large scale attack from the strays and those that reign from the ’death mountain’ Of couse all of us shall only rush to save our clans and the whole city could fall. More to the advantage of having the snake beastman as the lord, the snake beastmen are so many of them that it’s even hard to estimate their number. Incase of an attack to the city, of course before we get to send out our clansmen to was, the snake beastmen shall have to go first. Think about it fellow kings. Lord Ash or the snake Lord?!" He said all that in one breathe.

Of course, silence ensued as everyone thought it through. Ash’s clan only consisted of five of them of which three are females. The scope at which he could command an army was one that had a shaky foundation.

The Falcon king was in euphoria when he saw the conflicted looks of other kings. He had already sent out his clansmen to invite the snake lord into their city. If he agreed, his clan would he closely acquainted with the city lord which would boast their popularity which in turn would make females admire and become attracted to the falcon males. It was a win win all the way.

"Your idea is not a bad one but the leopard clan shall not betray our current Lord. We will wait for him to return and give an explanation if there’s even need for one." The leopard king made his stand.

"The lion clan shall also stand by our oath. We will wait for lord Ash to return."

"The tiger clan also agrees."

The other kings were conflicted and didn’t immediately make their stand. The position of city lord was prestigious and many admired to get that title but with it came great sacrifices. That’s why the Panther clan was on the verge of extinction in the beast Continent.

"I support the Falcon king’s suggestion." the witch master spoke up breaking the silence. Soon after his declaration, many other kings begun to support him too. The witch master who was the one and only in the city of beasts stood at a position where he could force some kings to side with him. Many beastmen and also females got sick from time to time and it was the witch master who helped. If they went against him, it was like leaving their clans in a tight spot where they’d be unable to save and help their own in times of need.

The leopard king was so pissed that he hit the table. "You bunch of ungrateful beasts! Have you all forgotten?! May I refresh your minds?! None of you would be here, alive and stabbing Lord Ash in the back if not for this clan’s contribution to this city’s growth and development. None of your fathers’ and their females would be alive! This world would have crumbled thousands of years ago! I believe the Beast god is equally disappointed in you, your ancestors are ashamed to call you their own! And I’m ashamed to be in the same space as your kind! Whoever chooses to go against Lord Ash will be the leopard clan’s enemy from this moment on and all the females of our clan with mates from your clans will have to cancel the spousal relationship." The Leopard king was almost biting off someone’s neck. He said that since the leopard clan was one of the few that were blessed to birth fifty percent of the city’s females. If he gave such an order, half of the city’s mated males would become strays. The threat was passed and the leopard king and others that supported Lord Ash exited the meeting in bitter moods. So bitter that their faces were twisted badly!

It took Carlos two days to fly back to the city and the atmosphere was chilling in the city. It was midday when females were most active but not a single female was in sight. The leopard king had declared war!

Landing ontop of the eagle castle, a guard was so delighted to see their king that he ran over with renewed zeal. Now that their king was here, they had nothing to worry about.

"My King!!"

"What’s going on?!" Carlos asked as he looked around.

"My King..the falcon clan have been making rounds in our territory frequently. They met the elder chiefs and asked us to surrender peacefully or we shall have to fight for the title of king of the sky. We didn’t dare act recklessly since you weren’t here but the elders had all warriors take positions and be guarded in case of any sneak attacks. Luckily you are back!!!" The guard was so happy that he was almost to tears.

"It’s alright. I’m back now. Don’t let the news of my return spread. I’d love to see who dares to threateny clan just because I took a stroll out. I’ll go meet the elders. Let the others keep guard and not worry about a thing." Carlos said coldly as he could imagine what happened while he and the others were absent.

"Yes my king!" the guard was so delighted and was full of admiration.

Carlos proceeded and went to find the elders who later filled him on the happeneings of the meeting while he was away. Carlos found it so funny that he laughed. "Such irony! Let’s seat back and watch the show." was what he said to the elders who were confused but listened and believed their King.

"What of the falcon clan?!" One of the elders asked.

"Don’t fret. I’ll whack their king so bad that they’ll dare not show their face in this city again. They’ve chosen to take my leniency for granted and are digging at scars I had burried. I’ll show them that I might have kept quiet but never forgot!" Carlos’s voice was so cold that the elders were chilled to the bone.
