Chapter 55: Chapter 53 Silent battle

It had been forever since she had such a sweet and filling meal. She involuntarily let out a burping sound, shocked by her mannerism, she covered her mouth in shame as she drove her eyes like a camera through the people present to catch their expressions. It seemed like they didn’t mind....she couldn’t bring herself to believe that they didn’t hear her, that was out.

What more could any beastman ask for them have his female happy and satisfied? Seeing her eat, all the men in the room were beyond delight and when she made the funny sound, they had wanted to laugh at how cute she was but chose against it when they saw how she scanned through them.

She was sensitive and they needed to accommodate her as much as possible.

"When are we setting off?!" Sydney asked as she took her bag to get ready. Now that she was full, nothing was holding them back from leaving, right?!

If you insist." Ash sighed. He really wanted her to first nap since she was done with her meal.

Sydney who was closest to Caden tagged at his skin skirt. "Cad...who is the other...um...male??" she whispered to a point that even Caden almost didn’t catch on her question.

He is a Lord too. Just like Ash and even stronger if I may dare." Caden replied. How could he miss up on the nickname she had given him. His spirit was liberated.

"What beastman is he?" She jabbed for answers.

"You should be able to remember him if you recall closely." He teased her.

"Now now Caden, I’ve just survived death..are you going to make me think when you can answer?! I’ll go to Shawn if you refuse!" Sydney gave him a side eye as she crossed her hands over her upper belly.

"He is a snake beastman." Caden relented seeing her pouty face and the threat she out across. "He commanded his kind to search high and low for you which made it easy for us to locate you at the strays colony." Caden answered. Their conversation was no longer a secret as everyone could hear her but chose not to intervene and act deaf.

Titan also heard her inquire about him and felt okay. He’d have loved it better if she asked him personally. He’d gladly tell her all that she needed to know...but again, it was much better when those she trusted told her about him. His chances of getting acknowledged would rise in his favour.

After everyone was ready to set off,they left the mountain. Carlos had gone off ahead of schedule to return to the city of beasts. Everyone else remained in their human forms to accommodate Sydney.

Ash carried her as she sat on his strong forearm and her hand over the back of his neck for support.

Ken and Shawn were carrying the utensils effortlessly. Caden and Titan walked side by side in silence as well, the ambiance was so warm yet cool. She sighed and five pairs of eyes shot her way. When we go back home, I must learn how to light a fire. It’s only now that I’ve realised how important survival skills are."

"You don’t need to do that." Ken protested grumpily. It was like she meant something like this would happen again someday.

"Ken!!" She drawled out his name. "Fine I lose! You don’t have to threaten me." Ken saved himself before hell broke loose.

"I’ll reach you everything you want to learn." Shawn smiled. It was right for her to learn at least how to light a fire as the future was unpredictable

"That’s why my Shawn is the best!" Obedient husbands was what she had longed for. She praised but sighed again.

"What now??" Caden laughed helplessly. "I also took an interest in herbs and want to learn more about them. Unfortunately...Im afraid of poisons. Should I seek the witch masters help?!"

"Why bother getting your hands locked with that old geezer. Titan here can help taste for poisons. He’s much more reliable!" Ken didn’t hesitate to drag poor snake into the discussion.

"Hey...you can’t pin responsibilities on people without seeking their permission!" she snapped at Ken who huffed. Being a lord didn’t mean that he’d do nothing and gain...he had to be useful!

"He clearly wants to! If he didn’t, you wouldn’t be seeing him around." he bit back provoking her.

"Are you trying to pick a fight on me now?!" Sydney almost jumped out of Ash’s hold. This damn wolf!

"Are you trying to play dumb? We all know you aren’t! Or is it those two lions that made you dumb." Is she trying to create a false image before this snake?! Being demure!!!

"Let me down Ash..let me beat this wolf to death!" Sydney could clearly see what Ken’s expression said. She wasnt trying to act coy or anything!

"Your violence tendencies still thrive!" Ken smirked. He was happy to see that she can still bricker and make faces.

"I’m not violent!" Sydney clenched her first intending to swing it at him.

"Yeah, says the head of the family. I fear for my future!" he put a stop to teasing her for the sake of his future.

"You are free to leave!" This man would definitely be the death of her. Spoiling her image before new family members.

"Fat luck. You are stuck with me." Ken couldn’t see himself anywhere else in life than besides her.

"I’ll ask Ash to beat you up!" To keep her good image, Ash would do the violent part and he’d beat the wolf real good!

"Like you already haven’t!" It was already a guaranteed beating. He hadn’t received the one that Shawn was meant to deliver. This violent female!!!

"Hey can you stop talking back?!"

"You just had to ask." Ken said and immediately shut up. Sydney was red in the face full of agitation.

Titan glared at Ken for pissing Sydney off and placed his cold hand on her boiling face. Sydney was startled only for a while and let her face be cooled down. She had noticed that Titan kept changing colour of his skin from gold to blue.

"Are all snake beastmen like you?!" she asked. Getting to know him wasn’t bad since it seemes like these four men had already accepted him.

No." Titan was pleasantly surprised that she had taken the initiative to talk to him. His pale face blushed a little.

"Then the scales....I thought they’d go away when you take the human form." They filled his outer surface of the arm but not the inner part. More like how a snake was scaly on the outside but itse belly was cold, soft and smooth.

"I’m beyond a tenth rank beastman. Maybe this is what happens to snake beastmen...I’m not really sure about why it’s like this."

"Then..you change from blue to gold...why?!"

"I do that to pull back my poison. My scales are very poisonous that a cut from them can kill any living creature."

"Ahhhh....your scales are beautiful. I didn’t think they’d be so dangerous. Such a pity!" she had long wanted to pluck some and keep them in her collection

Titan felt it was a pity too. If only he could suck out his poison and store it somewhere, then he’d have no qualms in getting to be with Sydney. The other best option was for them to mate. A female would be immune to her mate’s poison but that was a far fetched desire. He had to wait it out in agony!

It was midday when they took a short rest. Sydney sat on a skin that was lay for her and the others settled themselves to the ground. "I’ve been meaning to ask you .." Sydney begun. It was Ken who was keeping her company despite tiehr brickering all morning. "If I had officially mated with any of you..would it have been easier to find me?!" she asked. Sia had told her about the existence of a mate bond formed when beastmen found their females. The tattoo like figurine that appeared in a female’s skin worked like a compass for the male. They’d know where their females were and also be able to feel their female’s extreme emotions like fear, pain, distress, passion and others for as long as they were extreme.

She had regreted not mating with atleast one of them but now that they had found her and they were going home, she was considering it very much...the only query was - who is going to go first?!

"Yes. We would have found you in a nick of time. It would have taken atmost a day to locate you and you wouldn’t have suffered all this long."

Then that means I should mate with you guys as soon as I get home." she muttered to herself but all of them heard her. They looked at eachother in the eye and unknown to her, a battle ensued between them.
