This energy..." Core begun but shut up immediately. It had a slight resemblance to her own. It wasn’t hers but more like she and this energy came from the same source.

Sydney walked over but was held back by Ash. Don’t! I feel apprehensive just looking at this place." He said and the others also nodded.

Ken’s fur were spiked up like he was against a formidable enemy.

This place used to be so green...." Carlos also commented. He had purposefully chosen this route since it was where he had managed to escape when saving Caden but to find the place like this, it brought one to wonder just how dangerous the inner areas were.

They didn’t waste time and immediately, Caden and Carlos shifted taking their group off the ground and into the skies and just like they had thought, this was an endless stretch of ash. Their eyes could go as far as the horizon.

She said I’m currently leaving off of Core’s life force and this...this is my last chance so even if I run back to my former world, for as long as Core is vanquished, I’ll meet an equal fate." She said and cast Ash a look. His face was pale. So it’s a do or die for me." She said with a shrug while her companions were struck numb from this revelation.

If I do not do something, naturally, I’ll die." Sydney said.

Is what we are going to look for the ones that’ll save you?" Enzo asked.

With it, there should be hope." She said not bothering to meet their eyes. She also didn’t understand why core insisted on her going off to find her mate’s souls but after bugging her so much, she revealed somethings which gave her a glimmer of hope for the future. If her mates all got back their souls, a high chance of completing the cycle of Midah would grant her enough power to cast off the invaders in her. Balance eould be restored and the endless deaths would end along with the beast world’s destruction but that was only.if her mates exploited their full power. If the first option failed well, Sydney would have to act as the sacrifice for the sake of the Beast world.

It wasn’t a choice she wanted to take!!

They flew over the stretch of land till evening and only then we’re they able to spot green once again.

Bit even so, this did not delight them after learning of why Sydney had set out this time.

She asked and they looked at her. I still have a choice and I’ve decided I won’t die, why are you all worried then?!"

Before we left the city, I was only fifty percent sure but seeing that you all agreed to come along with me, now I’m a hundred percent sure. Me taking the first step gave me half the confidence and you guys coming along gave me the assurality that no matter what we are going to face in the near future, we will protect each other through thick and thin and until the very last moment, when we finally emerge victorious in this, we’ll still be together." She said confidently.

Then we won’t let you down!!" Carlos was the first to speak up. The blow had been so hard on him but with her having confidence in him, how could he let her down?! He’d stand as her sheild to protect her at all times.

Since they were out on such a dangerous journey, Core had to expand a bit of her ability to Sydney to ward off dangers and the likes. She also didn’t want Sydney or her mates to die so soon as they were currently her hope too.

You can sense them?" Shawn asked.

As the sun was setting, they possibly couldn’t camp on the ground, the group each climbed up a tree and sat up there amongst it’s branches. That was currently the only way they could have a peaceful night and adequate rest.

The stars covered the skies and the night creatures got active.

In the later quarter of the night, Sydney was startled awake. This woke Ash who was spooing her in his hold. What?" He asked in a whisper.

Someone’s coming." She said but her mates who were also awake now wejt in high alert.

All eyes looked down to the dark forest bed keenly and in a few minutes, a group of beasts arrived at the forest boundary.

They were all kinds of them!!!

Core suppressed herself into nothingness.

It seems like what leader suggested actually worked! That thing stopped approaching!" A beast with wings and donkey legs with the upper body of a horse said.

His figure was a little unsettling.

That herb truly worked wonders!!" Another chimed in happily.

I don’t think it’s the herb. That thing must have done so intentionally even after killing so much of our kind!!!"

True!! I mean, there’s a city of beasts bit far from here so why didn’t it go there but attack us?!" Another asked deeply displeased.

If it wasn’t for that scary gray thing, I’d have personally charged over and killed as many beastmen as I could!!!" Another spat hatefully.

Why would you bother yourself with those weaklings?" The leader of the group asked.

"Let’s go check the last spot and proceed. We don’t have much time." The leader said and turned to leave but his steps halted as he frowned. Why did he feel watched?
