What? You actually plan on giving them a chance?" Ken looked at Sydney in disbelief. Isn’t it better to just eliminate them all and take the females to the city?" He asked

Sydney just offered him a smile. What traitors could leave alive? As the saying goes, once a traitor, always one. She didn’t plan on letting them leave in the first place. She wanted those living in the city to know what would come their way if they even thought of ever betraying them.

I think Sydney had a reason for this." Greg spoke drawing Ken’s attention.

You do?" Ken asked looking at Sydney with a look that demanded an explanation.

Mm." She nodded but didn’t add on any more words.

At this point in time, word had gone out on how many chiefs akd a few kings had been killed off by the city lord and others. Those few clans that had a hand in this matter had been subdued ruthlessly not even having the energy to resist. Currently all those that had an idea about the attack had been dealt with accordingly and their females were forced to go under different clans. Even a few big clans in the city had fallen under the same fate leading to their disintegration from the city’s top clans and loosing their standing and position.

In a world where the strongest ruled, those that were displeased only had one chance, and that was to fight the current city lord to reverse their terrible situation, other than that, they had to accept their fates.

Learning of the battles, many of the unmated and some mated males excitedly rushed to the area where the battles were going to take place.

Sydney looked on from the sidelines and saw the numbers of beastmen that had gathered increasing every passing second.

I didn’t know they’d come this many." She lamented.

Well, it’s expected." Shawn looked on. Beast men loved watching fights. Moreso when the opponents are those from another place who were acclaimed to be extremely strong.

I dont think what has brought them over is just the fights. The females have." Sydney exposed those excited beastmens thoughts making her mates laugh, for she was right. Those beastmen had indeed come after learning that there would be females.

Once everyone was gathered, it was already noon. Sydney stayed in one of the houses and let Ash deal with this matter. He walked over to where the fights were to commence and upon seeing him, many of the beastmen cheered on happily.

I think you are all aware of what happened in the city. We had traitors who planned to sell our city to outsiders. As the city lord, I did my part with the help of various kings to tackle the situation in the city. On the otherhand, my mate along with the snake beasts dealt with the situation outside of the city, saving our city from falling into dire straits."

Hearing his words. The different beastmen were at first in awe and shock but latter cheered on upon hearing what their lord’s female had done for them!!!. Even those few newcomers cheered on. Though it wasn’t everyday that a female stood up against males, it happening was a marvelous thing to talk about.

Ash let them talk their agitation out and. The few of the surviving outsiders came up with an agreement with my mate and that is to battle it out with one of her mates inorder to be granted a second chance. But since this matter is about their mates, those who wish to find a mate are free to come up and battle one of rhe outsiders for a chance to win a spot right next to that female. But this is a battle of life and death which is in your hands. If the outsider manages to kill you, he is free to go along with his mate, if you are able to deal with him, then his mate is yours." He added and cheers broke out feverntly that the whole forest floor was vibrating. The birds escaped their nests in fright.

The surviving outsiders stood on one side while the beastmen from the city stood on the other with heated gazes as they measured up their respective opponents.

The outsiders were also looking on menacingly. At this time in time, they were considered the only mates that their females had, if they were unable to make it, then despite their mates anger over losing their former mates, they’d have to over go this moment and accept in new mates to ensure their safety and survival.

Of course, although those females were locked in that house as of now, many knew that whatever was going on out side wasn’t good at all and that they had lost a considerable amount of mates.

Not long after Ash’s words and the beastmens excitement died down, the fights begun. It was a first come first serve basis and a fee among the strongest residents of the city had picked their opponents.

Their strikes were ruthless and bodies begun to drop to the ground one after the other. Those that died consisted of both those from the city and those among the outsiders.

Sydney looked on as a good number of their residents fell but it wasn’t to the point that it was too bad. Even those outsiders were not any better and of the surviving three hundred, a hundred or so were already dead.

Seems like not all of them will die." Ray commented sadly.

Why don’t we just kill them off." Shawn asked.

We won’t do that. I’ll keepy word to them but they’ll be taken into the city as prisoners and we will have some beastmen from the city become mates of those females. This will grant us a chance to keep a close eye on them. If we won’t them wander on their own, they might let the others that aren’t here yet know." Sydney said and everyone nodded their heads.

They truly didn’t need to play political here, the most important thing was to ensure that they gathered enough females over. If among those outsiders were those that were strong but lacked females, once they learnt that the city had enough females, they’d come running to settle in the city, not like the idea of expansion was impossible.

What worried them is those large clans that were already used to living together and those that were used to power, it’d be difficult to bend their wills to have them fall under a single rule of a city lord.

From the information Enzo had shared, those from the Northern continent had more than one city. Infact, they were as many as nine each occupied by a great clan. Thos showed just how big the northern continent is.

The continent of the city of beasts wasn’t small either, it was just that those that were considered strong were few and counted on a single hand. There were other wide forests out there but most of them were riddled with dangers capable of annihilating their existence. That’s why those that longed for power established small clans out side the city of beasts as it acted as a shield from attacks from those dangers out there.

A total of sixty outsiders survived off the three hundred and of the sixty, only thirty had mates. The others were either mere suitors or those that weren’t ready to die just yet.

I’d like to become part of your city. Please allow me." The young male who had a sister stepped forward and requested. Though he had been granted a chance to take his sister away, he couldn’t just go wandering about and he needed a place to settle.

Let your sister choose a male from among these beastmen who have just battled. That’s the prerequisite to entering our city." Ash said and the young male was already estatic.

Thank you..thank you so much city lord." He said happily and dashed over to the place where the females had all been confined.

Hurriedly, he managed to get his sister to come out. The young girl was happy to see her brother still alive. She cried out loudly in relief. Only after a while did her brother tell her what was going on. She chose a gorilla beastman as her mate and like that, she and her brother had become part of the gorilla clan.

The gorilla beastman was so happy that he immediately hugged his female as he looked around as if he feared that she’d be snatched from him. Along with her brother, they left for the city of beasts.

The survivors from the outsiders looked at Ash waiting for his last words. He had been true to his word and granted them another chance to life so they didn’t hold any hard feelings towards him.

I’d also like to join your city." Another beastman stepped forward. He didn’t have a mate amd all he needed was a home. Most beastmen were social and loved to stay in company of others so they couldn’t stand being all on their own. There was also the worry over the dangers that were hidden in this new place. It was better to settle down in a city.
