Hearing his words, the four kept quiet and looked at Titan

I know where this is going..." Freddy said with a knowing look.

Lin on the other hand looked at Titan with a narrowed gaze. Is this man trying to use them?

He’s trying to earn brownie points from mom by using us."Freddy didn’t hold back his words and on looking at his brothers and Lilly, it seemed they also thought the same.

Titan was wronged but he didn’t back down. He was honestly concerned for them but his actions depicted another image of him. Scheming!

"We are fine on our own." Lilly didn’t idle around. And luckily when she said west, then it’d be west without question.

Titan picked on the threat and his hands were balled into fists as a sour feeling rose in his chest but he managed to calm himself down. He had no idea why these children were like this and he couldn’t force them to tell him about it. All in all, he had to learn to understand them if he hoped to bond well with them in the future.

Titan went back to the city in low spirits. He didn’t directly go home but went to see the temporary home he had personally built for those children. He looked around the vast seating room in deep thoughts. There was a lot he wanted to know but couldn’t at the moment.

He sighed. Ray had also refused to utter a word claiming he will only speak of this matter when Sydney demanded to know about it. Who would he question on this matter?

When Titan got home, he found Sydney busy to the point of forgetting about her food.

Sydney who was so engrossed only realised that the piece of skin she was writing on was gone. She looked up only to see a dark face looking at her.

"You know what you’ve done wrong?" Titan asked.

"Mm." Sydney had her head lowered.

At the moment, they were in the kitchen and he was busy warming up the food while she had been made to seat on the kitchen island and she couldn’t avoid his eyes no matter how hard she tried.

A cup of milk appeared before her eyes and she took it obediently.

"What were you doing that you forgot to eat?" He asked as she checked on the food.

"I was finding names." She said guilty.

"For whom?" He asked as he served the food after warming it. He also took a portion for himself to accompany her as she ate.

Sydney placed the cup down and jumped from the island to seat and eat. "I went out with Caden today to play. We also visited the school and found that there’s a group that’s about to attain their human form. I went to see them and guess what?" She asked excitedly.

Titan already knew but he still asked. "What?" He could see that she couldn’t wait to boast about it.

"They asked me to find names for them! You know males get their own names right?" She asked and he nodded.

"Doesn’t them asking me name them mean they have high regard for me?!" She spoke again forgetting to eat but Titan didn’t forget. He took her fork from her and helped her to her food. Her cheeks bulged.

"Mm, they ought to." Titan acknowledged what they did. Even him, his name was chosen by himself once he was old enough, seeing how these cubs were grateful, he felt it wa after all not a bad idea to build the school for them.

Sigh! She sighed her excitement dying along with a the food going down her stomach.

"What’s that problem?" He asked seeing her downcast eyes.

"It’s so hard to name! I’ve come up with all sorts of names but all don’t seem to fit the occasion. I’m wondering, what if I give a name they don’t like?!" She was worried. Sigh.

Titan rubbed her red hair. "How about I say something." He spoke and she looked at him expectantly.

"Say it " she said expectantly.

"How about a general name..." He suggested.

"Like a family name?" Sydney asked as her eyes that were blank begun to glow.

"Something like that." He nodded and watched as she fell into deep contemplation.

"Will you guys not mind.... A family name?" She asked after some thought. It was even weirder coming from Titan.

"I didn’t say a family name. It’s us who are your family. So for them, it’s a general name." He said.

Oh...her mouth formed a wide O. So it’s a general name. Mmm...

The others returned to find her and Titan lost in finding the ’general name!’

What are you guys doing that has you so engrossed?" Ken asked with interest as he walked over to see.

Go wash!" Sydney reprimanded but kept her eyes on the names. Ken ran off to wash so he could catch a nice spot next to her. "Welcome back guys." She greeted almost half heartedly.

Though she told Ken, the others followed to go and wash too.

Ken came back in a flash his hairs dripping with water. If he was in his beast form, the whole house would be filled with water. He sat on the other side of Sydney that was available and peeped over.

"Names? Who are you naming?" He asked as she checked out some of the skins that had different names written on them.

"The cubs that are soon shifting." Caden replied.

"We already have cubs that are shifting!" Ken was surprised.

"Yeah! We even have a third rank amongst them!" Sydney boasted.

"Wow! He’s a lucky one." Ken was amazed. Let me be the one to name that little guy!" He suggested only to be smacked hard and to loose the piece of skin he was holding onto.

"No thanks." Sydney took back her piece and continued to search.

In the middle of the night.

Titan was resting in a corner of the main bedroom in his beast form when he felt something stir within him. He looked on as a pair of eyes, more vicious and dominering looked back at him. He was surprised that he was jolted awake.

His eyes turned into slits as she looked around the dark room hearing the deep breathes of all those in the room. His let his forked tongue flicker to sense the surroundings and there was no trace of an intruder in the house. He sighed in relief and took on his human form before he went to check on Sydney who was wrapped up by Ken.

He frowned and plucked his wolf paws away holding back from throwing him off the bed since he was family.

He spent little time around and he left the room silently. The situation around the house was alright but the pair of eyes that looked back at him really unsettled him to the point of being unable to sleep. What’s that for! He groaned while rubbing his temples.

"Did you have a nightmare?" Sydney’s sleepy voice drew him from his stupor and he looked back at her to see her walking down the staircase.

She was still drowsy and her steps were unsteady. He dashed to her side to support her. "What are you doing this late?" He asked and carried her to go to the sitting room. And nightmare? How could he even have one?

After placing her down on the seat, he rummaged the stone cases in the sitting room and found the luminous pearls lighting up the room.

"You were distressed and I felt it. When I woke up, you weren’t in the room." She said with a yawn. Clearly she was still feeling sleepy.

"Sorry I woke you up." He said and came back to sit with her. He cradled her in his arms and let her rest her head on his chest.

It’s alright. Are you okay?" She asked regardless her eyes looking up at him.

"I’m fine."

"You are such a bad liar." She huffed and snuggled up against him more.

Titan laughed bitterly. He was really such a bad liar but before he could open his mouth to speak, he caught sight of the red skin where his mate mark coiled around her neck.

He froze.
