Beauty's Beasts
Chapter 120: The meeting.

Chapter 120: The meeting.

As soon as Ray passed on the information, he turned on his heels and sprinted off to try and catch up with the children. He was at a disadvantage over the fact that he lacked his beast but his speed was no different from sixth rank beastmen.

He ran and crossed the threshold of the city before entering the forest to look for the children. He was sure they wouldn’t have gone that far, right?! But even after running for half a day, there was no sign of those little ones and the city wall was coming into his sight.

Back in the city.

Scott along with both lion brothers hurried over to Sydney’s home and indeed she was the only one there. Her lone figure could be seen curled up in the stone sofa with her chin leaning on her knees with her hands wrapped around her legs.

The siund of approaching people drew her attention and she looked over to see Scott with the two lion brothers. You guys came!" She said happily and stood up. From the sofa.

Scott rushed and hugged her before leading her to the sofa once again. Sydney took her time to recount what Parrick had told her and his eyes widened further.

Isn’t eradicating the threat most important?" He asked. If strays were the cause of worry then all they had to do was deal with them! As for the other beastmen and their families, he was sure they could go on talking terms.

"Unfortunately that not how things work around here. Its survival for the fittest and once those beasts are given a leeway, they’ll want more than just a small portion of land and resources. A massacre could break out." Sydney expressed her worries. "What’s more vexing is that we have no idea why they were forced out of their homes. It has to be something really big! Like a volcanic eruption or tsunami I don’t know!" This place was like her home right now and she couldn’t help getting worried about it. "Brother...you are an army commander and really good at strategies, how about you help? We still have a few years here and we need to stay safe during that period of time." She saw that her brother was thinking about it but he didn’t reall seem ready to intervene much.

Scott shifted his gray eyes to his sister and his countance sifted a bit. He indeed didn’t intend to involve himself but she had seen through him and even asked him. There was no choice left on his side. I’ll do my best for them and the rest shall be upto them. " He said rubbing her hair before standing up. I’ll head down to the city hall and see what I can help with..that is...if they need me." He said with assurance and turned to leave.

Once he was out of the house, the lion brothers looked at eachother with complicated gazes. Is it already happening?

Parrick flew till he could no longer feel his wings but despite that, he didn’t back down and proceeded to lead the way. One of the eagle warriors saw his struggle and came over to help. Parrots weren’t built for such long distance flying, their best attribute was the jeep their mouth yapping all day long, they were really good at letting cars out of the bags. "Is the scene that scary?!" He asked out of curiousity.

"You’ll know once we get there!" Parrick didn’t even have the energy to talk and only looked on solemnly.

Ash sat in the city hall and looked at all the elders that had gathered. After the incident with the falcon king, though many hadn’t been pleased with the outcome, they couldn’t pin the blame on their lord since it was another beast who had dealt with that group. It had even gone ahead to help them clear away those males that would have turned into hazardous creatures running amok in thei midst.

Lord Ash...you called us so urgently what’s the matter?" One of the king’s couldn’t stand the silence and asked.

Ash’s eyes shifted to him and then scanned through all the other kings with a cold gaze. There has been news of a migration into our lands." He said and the whole room fell silent. It wasn’t long before many started to frown and voice their opinions.

What kind of migration!?

Those things happen from time to time!

It’s not that threatening...should the lord have such a solemn look to scare us?

This matter is clearly not..."

SHUT UP!" Ash’s voice bounced onto the hall’s walls leaving shudders along its wake. Even the walls had a few cracks only from his mere roar. The hall fell into grave silence.

Ash was a relatively kind leader and to some, they seemed to have forgotten the vastness of his power because he didn’t show it off nor patrol it. To be able to sit in a position where he could command beasts in all walks of life showed his power and position were for naught.

Titan who was also among the king’s was surprised by Ash’s explosive power. He could tell only a ten percent had been released but the walls got cracks. He smiled. It seems Ash wasn’t really a pushover and just loved laying low.

Ken let the wake of power flow through him as he looked at Ash with a new gaze. He didn’t believe he had been living with such a beast in the same house sharing the same woman! He really had balls!

The problem with you is that you never listen but are really good at talking." Ash scolded them lightly but his countance remained cold. I’m sure I’m reasonable enough and wouldn’t have called you all over if it wasn’t something major. I’ve got news from Parrick of this sudden migration and it’s coming in from the northern ranges. You are all aware of how tough and life threatening it is to cross those ranges but that didn’t stop both beasts and beastmen from putting their lives on the lines to cross over to our side."

Talking of the northern ranges, all the king’s swallowed lumps in their throats and terror flashed through their eyes just thinking of that place. This matter that was initially something they had thought of taking lightly had all of them gather their minds and hearts to listen to the news.

The fact that they are disregarding the dangers on that range, does that mean something far more dangerous is after them?" One leader asked and his shaky voice reached everyone.

If that’s the case, why are they leading that danger to us? We have never crossed over to their side...do they have to be so calculative?" The wolf king bellowed out to express his dissatisfaction but all eyes glared at him.

"It’s not like they have a choice...they can’t possibly jump into the ocean!" Ken couldn’t stand his father and muttered those words but since the room was silent, everyone heard him.

"You shouldn’t embarrass father like that!" Ken’s brother spoke up seeing the wolf kings black face.

"You should shut up if you have nothing useful to say! Just because you have another doesn’t warrant you the right to talk." Ken didn’t smoothen out his words and his brother was shut like that. All the other kings looked at Ken and could only shake their heads. This boy really!

It takes half a month to reach those mountain ranges and by then, we have to set things right in the city. If the latter calls for it, then we shall have to accommodate them...the females and children." Ash said his piece and looked at.

"Was this idea given by your Female?" A voice sounded and a chill crossed everyone’s spines. All eyes shot to the owner of the voice and saw the ape king look up at Ash with bold eyes.

What do you mean by that?" Ash felt his throat role with bile as he held down the growl that was building up.

I meant what I meant. While it might look like a good thing on the surface, I know it’s harder to execute. This continent can only house those that originally inhibited it. That aside, we are already millions in number...if we let that lot come and settle with us, what do you think ou lr ending will be? There will be constant fight for resources. And besides, it’s almost the dry season, we might be able to hold up the first month’s but with the sun dry season, won’t we be hunting at eachother to survive?" The ape king let his mind out. "So, even though I have high regard for your mate my lord, I can’t seem to let my clansmen suffer a blow because your mate said this or that."

Titan couldn’t help laughing. His laugh was cold just like his body and blood. All eyes turned to him. He was also a beastlord! "Ape king...I want to correct you on something." Titan looked at the ape with a smile that wasn’t one. "If my mate says it’s wrong, then it’s wrong even if it’s right. If my mate says it’s day when it’s clearly night..then it’s day." He said domineeringly releasing his aura. He hadn’t even bothered standing up from his seat but all the king’s were surpressed. "Me and my mate’s family coming here to sit and talk this out with you is merely giving you some respect but if you are going to get that little respect and try to rub it by letting my mates’existence roll out of your mouth with such disrespect and disregard, I wonder how I should deal with this matter." Titan let out a sigh to suppress himself. Sydney generally hated killings and he also didn’t really like them.

Snake lord this...." One king wanted to say something but Titan was already on his feet.

"I don’t care about the lives in this wall except for that of my mate and our family. So, I Titan the snake lord withdraw from all matters concerning this problem. If you all die, then please do...I have the power to protect and provide for my mate. Excuse me." Titan said his piece and stood up to leave.

Ken didn’t stand on ceremony and also stepped out from behind his father. We initially wanted to get involved because of her but seeing such behaviour when you all clearly need our help, I Ken, aso withdraw and all future happeneings will have nothing to do with me." He said and ran to catch up with Titan.

That’s called riding on others tailcoats!

All eyes shifted to Ash in fear. If he really walked out on them too.....

I’ll do my best for you all as your Lord but I’ll not go all out like I initially wanted to. Let’s wait for further information from the scouts my mate sent out and we will discuss then." Ash also stood up and walked out. Carlos and Caden followed suit right after not forgetting to glare hard at the ape king.
