Chapter 112: Zery’s suspicions.

Up in the cold and misty mountains.

Zery sat in his cave in silence and if not the soft breathes that resonated in the room, one wouldn’t believe that he was alive.

Like an angel that’s called from the skies, his unearthly beauty could send one into a trance. His white hairs fell gracefully on his equally pale white skin.

Outside his cave the elders who were worn-out and rigid stood looking amongst themselves.

"You go!" One of the elders urged the head elder to enter.

"Why should I?" The head elder asked with horror written all over his face.

"Because you are the head elder, that’s why!" the others hissed at him.

The head elder now realized how bad it was was to have such a high position. His legs trembled as he braced his long life years to enter this den!

He had spent all his life in the cold mountains but this cave froze even his heart. He could hear his erratic heartbeat thump through his ears. Not long after going through the small cave tunnel, he came to the widest part of the cave where there was a stone bed and a person laying on it.

"My lord!" The elder called out fearfully but Zery didn’t answer nor open his eyes.

"The children you instructed us to gather....about that...all of them are not strong and their power is weak. I’m..I’m afraid none of them can help you, my Lord. He said as softly as he could but knew the daredevil in the bed heard him loud and clear.

"I’m wondering if it’s okay to postpone this ritual to the next moon!". he suggested like he had the other elder had agreed. This would be enough time for them to evacuate the chibs and females from this mountain and run. If they found a beast settlement, they’d ask for help from them!

Zery let out a heavy sigh and lazily opened his eyes. Are you stalling for time for something I don’t know or is the situation as you’ve said?" Zery asked his eyes glinting coldly.

The elder trembled and kept his fearful eyes on Zery. It’s as I’ve said my lord! The truth is that the cubs are still weak and so is their power! Once they’ve recovered fine, we will proceed with the ritual as planned. I honestly have no point of stalling for time!" he said holding his voice from trembling.

"Mhm ..I see. Okay then. I’ll head out to the mountain for the time being and I’ll be back in a moon’s time. At that time, I won’t be as understanding as now. Do your best to strengthen their powers because that’s all that’s keeping their worthless lives going." his words were brutal and vicious.

The elder could only gawn at his lips in utter resentment and helplessness. If only!!!!

Zery stood up from his seat and walked past the elder. Don’t think I wo t he able to see through any tricks you have up your sleeve." Zery said in a bone chilling voice but Elder stood his ground. Zery was heavily amused that he smirked. But after passing his warning, he added no more word and left the settlement to go up and make a visit to his old friend.

Once Zery left, the elder slumped to the ground as his feet turned jelly. He even touched his. neck to make sure he had indeed not been killed! He nearly cried!

The elders watched Zery in silence as he walked past them. They had their eyes cast to the ground not letting him see through their emotions.

He snickered and walked off with an air of arrogance dripping from his every pore.

He is gone!" One of the scouts went came back and reported. He had followed after Zery without being noticed till he ensured that he had entered the mountain.

"Good! But we still can’t let our guard down. Go back and keep watch on the mountain. You know what to do incase he suddenly desides to come back and catch us off guard." The head elder instructed and the scout rushed back to his post.

The other elders looked at the head elder impatiently. "Are you sure this will work?" One of the elders asked with a slightly shaky voice.

"Yes! are you sure? Besides who have you such an idea?!" Another asked. They all knew the head elder was not so smart to come up with such a plan. If that were the case, then they wouldn’t have waited for Zery to return to develop such an ideal.

"I got someone willing to help us. " The elder begun and all ears were strainednnot to miss out on the slightest detail.

In the mountain cave.

Zery walked sluggishly till he came to the familiar environment, however, there was no light eluminating the place and it was shrouded in darkness. His brows creased but his vision wasn’t affected by the darkness at all.

He walked to where his old friend sat but didn’t get too close, he could hear the soft breathes from him. "I thought you were dead for real!" He sighed dramatically.

The old man let a shudder reck his body. With what he had learnt, how could he not shudder when Zery was right behind him.

Zery frowned at the man’s bodily response to his words. He walked around the enchantment circle that he couldn’t get past then went to have the front view of the man.

What graced him in the dark was the half open mouth of the old man and through that small gap, he could see that the old man had no tongue. He frowned!

Zery titled his head to side and frowned but after a while, he smirked. For you to go through lengths of biting your tongue off, there must be something interesting you don’t want me to to know." Zery smiled with a furious glint in his eyes.

This old man would rather bite off his tongue than tell him?? Did he think biting off his tongue would prevent him from finding out what he wanted?

"I’ve known you for so long but at this moment, I feel like I don’t know you at all!" He said as he looked into the dead eyes that were looking up at him. If only you hadn’t bitten off your tongue, maybe I wouldn’t find out. But anyway, tell me, who is it that you saw in your visions, Ash, or is it Ray and that group? Did you by any chance play time behind my back?" Zery asked coldly.

The Oldman with his bloody mouth grinned at Zery to confirm his words. He indeed did play time but it wasn’t only him, this second time there was intervention from another party young and stronger than him! So, noatter what Zery did, this time, that group won’t be as helpless against him as before! He also chose to end his life, Zery would have to wait all his life to find someone willing to serve him, and he was sure no beast of that kind would come to pass!

First and foremost, the falcon king and his henious female were both dead!

Secondly, Sydney had a mate that was the first kind of existence on this continent, he also had potential to summon those that he ruled to fight alongside him! And that army was unparalleled!

Thirdly, Sydney’s children were also there to protect their mother! Those little ones from Ash would definitely be able to crash Zery their uncle ruthlessly!

Zery looked at his old friend and shook his head. "Seeing you this happy after many years, I’m happy too but the hatred and mirth in your eyes kills my happiness for you. I honestly want to kill you!" Zery pushed away his white hair from his face.

The Oldman gave Zery his neck asking him to kill him! He had done his part and there was no need for him to be here anymore!

Zery looked down at the wrinkly old neck and then his eyes shot at the enchantment circle around the old man. "I won’t waste my time with you. I won’t be returning to this place anymore anyway so you. can die on your own. It’s time I go out and visit my brother. I want to see how good his life has become." Zery said and turned his back to head down the mountain.

Seems he really didn’t have to wait for a whole moon’s time. He was going to do the ritual whether those cubs were strong or weak! It was the purpose of their life after all! To die for him!
