Chapter 183: Brothers
Chapter 183: Brothers
SNAKE TRIBE
Blake soon reached the snake tribe after finishing the meeting and the first sight that caught his eyes were his little ones playing on an empty ground.
A faint smile instinctively adorned his lips as soon he saw them. He had missed them!
With all of those problems arising back at home, Blake was unable to visit them. But seeing the little ones playing carefreely, he felt a little bitter. They did not seem to miss him as much as he did. Snake beastmen in general were like that. Indifferent, cold, and showed minimal emotions. He was like that too in the past, until he met his mate.
But he also had to admit that compared to other snake beastmen, his little ones were more emotional and attached to their mother. Well, his Lilly was like that. Blake felt that she could even make a stone talk if she made up her mind. And he was thankful for that.
On the other side, Peter noticed his king entering the tribe. He was once again left in shock because he swore that he did not sense his king crossing the tribe’s perimeter. It was always like this, no matter how he trained, Peter could never sense his king’s movements. Only an overbearing power and instinctive fear of standing in the presence of someone superior to him would wash all over him as soon as his king stood in front of him.
"What?" Blake asked and the latter just shook his head.
"Nothing, my lord....." he stopped and corrected himself before saying, "Your majesty" He was trying hard to address his king accordingly but old habits die hard.
Blake frowned at him, "Talk comfortably, Peter. When have I ever asked you to address me so formally?" he couldn’t understand. He knew Peter when he was just a little snakeling. For many years, the latter called him ’My lord’ but as soon as Blake took the throne, or more like when they moved to the beast city, Peter shifted into calling him ’Your majesty’
He didn’t mind Peter talking to him like before but his ever stern and cautious subordinate didn’t think the same.
In Peter’s defense, talking informally to his king was unacceptable. It was not only disrespectful but also not good for his king’s image in the beast city. They were no longer staying in an isolated place like in the past but amongst other tribes. If he being the closest subordinate did not adhere to the rules then others would think badly about his king.
And he would never let others talk badly about his king. Never!
Blake sighed inwardly looking at Peter’s unwavering resolution. He would never be able to win against that slimy stubborn bastard.
So without paying any more attention to him, he looked back at his little ones.
"Were you guys playing?"
’Ssssss’ They were mocking their father’s ridiculous question. Of course, they were playing! What else did he expect?
Blake’s face darkened, "These little..."
Peter muffled his laughter seeing Blake’s face. His young masters loved their father but also loved to annoy him. No one had the guts to do that other than them.
Blake glared at Peter and turned to his little ones, "Do that again and I will not take you guys to your mommy"
’Sssss’ they hissed angrily. They missed their mommy! They moved to the snake tribe because their mother and brothers were sick. The little snakes didn’t want to worry their mother anymore when she was already taking care of their brothers. It was true that they liked staying with uncle Peter in the snake tribe but nothing could compare to their mommy’s company.
"Alright, I’ll take you" Blake exclaimed dramatically seeing their tantrum and shifted into his beast form, "Now let me see how fast you guys are"
With that, he slithered out of the snake tribe. The little snakes came out of their daze and soon chased after Blake. They wanted to prove themselves to their father. The little snakes admitted that it felt good receiving praise from their father.
Their father was the strongest snake beastman they had ever seen. Other beastmen from their tribe admired their father and the little ones knew that all the respect they received for themselves was because of their father. They too wanted to become like that and gain respect through their own hard work.
The race between father and sons ended with Blake winning. No matter how much they tried, the little snakes still failed to win against their father.
"You guys are still slow" came Blake’s cold voice.
The little snakes looked up at their father’s stern face. They lowered their heads sulking.
Blake frowned, "Sulking will not make you guys fast, Only training will. Understand?"
The little snakes nodded meekly. Their father was lenient with most things but training was a different matter.
"Let them be....." a familiar sweet voice broke the stiff atmosphere around them.
Blake felt his heart flutter when he saw his mate’s beautiful self descending the stairs.
"Lilly...." like a moth flying towards the fire, he walked towards his mate and engulfed her in a tight hug.
Lyra chuckled as she rubbed his back before glancing at her babies.
On cue, the little snakes rushed toward their mommy.
Whereas Lyra tapped Blake signaling him to let go but it seemed that her mate didn’t want to heed her words. He tightened his grip around her waist and gave his little ones a smug face.
"She is mine. My lovely mate..."
Lyra hit his chest feeling embarrassed, "What do you think you are doing in front of the children!?"
Blake looked down at his mate. Her face was flushed and she was glaring at him with her glossy blue eyes. A smile formed on his lips seeing her adorable face. She looked like a small animal caught in his arms.
"Blake...." Lyra whined when her mate didn’t release his grip and only stared at her in a daze.
Meanwhile, the little snakes who had enough of their father started to bite his leg fiercely.
Blake looked down at his little ones and smirked, "Those tiny fangs of yours can’t even leave a scratch on my skin"
"Blake, stop teasing them," Lyra said and started to struggle in his hold.
Blake who didn’t want his mate to injure herself relaxed his grip and saw as she crouched towards the little snakes.
"You guys missed mommy?" they nodded and Lyra felt her heart melt, "My babies...."
Right at that moment, the two lion cubs came out of Noah’s room. They stared in between their mommy and the little snakes before sprinting toward them. Blake laughed when the cubs joined their brothers and snuggled their mother making her fall backward.
