Beauty in the beast world -
Chapter 184: Wait
Chapter 184: Wait
VULTURE TRIBE
A massive gust of wind swept through the mud ground on the cliff of the vulture tribe. A pair of ash grey colored wings settled on his back as Victor shifted into his beastman form.
His knife-like silver grey eyes darted at his surrounding. Displeasure was clearly seen in his gaze. How could he not feel it? His entire tribe was brought down to debris. Stone houses and some of the straw huts were shattered. The single males of the vulture tribe normally resided in the stone caves on the cliff’s peak, so the ones that stayed in those houses were females with their mates and hatchlings.
Victor closed his eyes tightly trying to control his anger. He trusted Felix and knew he would have moved the females and hatchlings to a safe place before fighting against the stray beasts. But just the thought of those bastards getting their hands on the females of his tribe enraged him. Being the previous king of strays offered him an opportunity to learn more about them. And at one point, Victor wanted to leave that place as soon as he learned everything.
Stray beasts were either abandoned by their mates or became one when their mates died. But the difference between them was small. All of them hated females other than their mates. They fulfilled their carnal pleasure by capturing females. But that was not all. The real horror started when they tortured those females and in the end, killed them.
Victor was disgusted when he heard that. Maybe due to being a normal beastman, he absolutely loathed who did that to females. Some of the strays that were scared of him stopped kidnapping females but he knew that many did it in secret. Honestly, he did not care whatever they did back then because that was how he was. He didn’t like mingling with the outside world; the stray beast’s territory was one of the most isolated places he had ever seen so he settled there.
He just wanted a place to stay and liked being in control. Those stray beasts were scared of him and he took advantage of it and resided there.
But all that neglect and indifference that he showed in the past has caught his ankle now. Victor ground his teeth. He should have finished those bastards when he had the chance. Fighting them now was almost impossible because first, he was an immortal beastman and was not allowed to fight inside the city. Second, those stray beasts were currently holding the females of the black wolf tribe hostage, and the last and final reason was his mate. He did not want to drag her into this matter by unnecessarily creating trouble.
Victor opened his closed eyes and started examining his tribe. After scouting through the tribe, he started to fly towards the Eagle tribe.

EAGLE TRIBE
"Yes, you can stay here," Nathan said pointing at a stone house to the vulture beastman standing in front of him.
After the attack of stray beasts on the vulture tribe, their king saved them and brought them back.
And Nathan was ordered to take care of the matters regarding the dwelling of vulture beastmen. He organized separate houses for beastmen with mates but the bachelor ones resided wherever they wanted.
He was in the middle of his work when a gust of wind interrupted him. There was a magical barrier created by their king around the tribe that no stranger dared to cross. So he understood that the visitor must be their king or someone familiar to him.
And as he guessed, the one to descend to the ground was the vulture king.
Victor darted his eyes and they fell on Nathan. He sometimes saw the same eagle beastman with Kyrell and knew that he was a close subordinate.
"Where is Felix?" he asked without wasting more time. He could see some familiar faces of his tribesmen walking around but didn’t see Felix.
Nathan respectfully bowed his head and stretched his hand in a direction, "This way, your majesty"
Victor followed after him and after a few minutes, they reached a stone house where Felix was staying.
Inside the house, Felix sensed his king’s aura and came out.
"Your majesty" he bowed in greeting and Nathan left that place to give some privacy.
Victor noticed fresh wounds and scars on his subordinate’s body and frowned, "Are you alright?"
Felix nodded, "I’m fine now your majesty. These wounds will be healed in no time"
Later they continued to talk about the losses that occurred due to the attack. Victor learned that no females and hatchlings were harmed but some of the guards lost their lives during the battle. It was acceptable for now but Victor was not someone who forgot things. He held grudges for a long time and avenging his tribesmen was something that he must do being their king.

At the entrance of the beast city, Lucas and Noah were discussing the guarding duties done by their men. They clearly felt responsible for the current dilemma happening inside the city. The stray beasts entered due to their negligence. They assumed that it was alright as long as they guarded the entrance and neglected other possible routes.
The forest surrounding the city is too dense for someone to move and most importantly one would come face to face with the snake tribe if they managed to cross it. Everyone feared Blake and his second in command. Peter looked easygoing most of the time but once triggered, he could be as dangerous as Blake. So those stray beasts wouldn’t dare infilter through the forest.
The next possible entry is by crossing the river but the strong current was too difficult for one to do that.
Then the last option is the mountains of the vulture tribe and Victor’s absence made it even easier.
Lucas and Noah heard about Gregory staying in the black wolf tribe. The lion cubs fell ill, and Victor leaves the city, all of them getting busy with matters searching for a cure for the cubs. All of these happened at a time and nothing here was a mere coincidence. Even a fool could guess that this was precisely planned. And the result of all of this was the entry of stray beasts into the city.
Now they were helpless. They couldn’t attack them recklessly because they have females from the black wolf tribe as hostages. But the most worrisome fact here is the presence of that wretched merman inside the city. The stray beasts altogether were one issue and Gregory himself is another matter. He is a madman but an intelligent one. It was a pity that he didn’t use that intellect for good purposes.
So in conclusion, all that they could do now is wait. Wait for the right time to strike and drive those pests out of their home
