Beauty in the beast world
Chapter 163: Grandfather

Chapter 163: Grandfather

Beast city was in chaos the next morning due to the abrupt death of another Beast king. The fox king’s death shook the entire city’s peace and now it was the Black wolf tribe’s king’s death that unsettled the beastmen.

"What the hell is happening in the city, Leo?" Lucas’s father asked looking at his friend with a serious face. Two King beastmen were dead inside the safety parameters of the city but the culprit was not found. They were forced to remain quiet because the investigation was not moving forward. The one who killed the fox king was not yet found and now they had another headache.

The lion king too felt that the situation inside the city was becoming more and more severe as days passed. At first, he was secretly relieved about the death of that scheming fox king. Late king Jacob was notorious for causing problems and all the other tribes’ kings always wanted to get him out of the city but it was not possible.

Then about king Alexander, he did not have a favorable reputation in the city but he was better than the fox king. The black wolf tribe was responsible for guarding the city together with the silver wolf and lion tribe. Wolves no matter which kind always worked in packs and were strong warriors with great loyalty. It was a shame to lose the king of such warriors but the important thing now was finding the culprit responsible for these mishaps.

"I don’t think it’s the same person" King Helio voiced out bringing the lion king out of his thoughts.

He glanced at his friend and the silver wolf tribe’ king continued to talk, "The one that killed the fox king is different from the murderer of the Black wolf tribe’ king"

"How so?" King Leonard asked. He too felt that the two killings were done by different individuals but he wanted to hear his friend’s reasoning before jumping to conclusions.

"King Alexander was killed with a sharp object whereas the fox king was brutally attacked by someone powerful" King Helio explained, "At least we got an intact dead body in king Alexander’s matter but that was not the case with fox king. By this, we can easily conclude that the fox king was killed by someone else and also we Beastmen don’t use knives and daggers"

The lion King frowned, "The murderer must have done that to cover up his tracks. By not using his claws and fangs he must have intended to escape from the investigation"

"That’s unlikely" king Helio immediately disagreed, "The one that killed the fox king is someone powerful and he did not even care about erasing his tracks. It’s like he doesn’t care even if he gets caught"

"I never heard about this," said king Leo, "What did you mean when you said about not erasing traces? Did you by any chance find the culprit?"

King Helio nodded before saying, "It is a Wolf beastman. I know how my kind attacks prey and was able to discern the wolf claws as soon as I saw the fox king’s corpse. But...I don’t know whether it is a silver wolf or a Black wolf"

King Leonard had a serious face, "It would have been great if Lucas and Noah led the investigation"

King Helio too agreed with his friend’s words. Their sons were good at leading investigations and more than that, the tribesmen followed thier orders due to their status as princes without any qualm. But now both of them couldn’t leave their mate’s side because Lyra gave birth. Noah was required to look after the cubs as their father and Lucas...well, that brat refused to leave those cubs’ side, and surprisingly, those little ones too were very attached to his son.

He came out of his thoughts when he saw his friend eagerly getting up from his seat. The lion king’s face was practically brimming with joy as he started to walk out of the room.

"Where are you going?"

"To see my grandsons" the lion king replied and left without casting a single glance at his sulking friend.

King Helio couldn’t help but feel jealous of his friend. He too wanted Grandkids and whenever he saw his friend jumping in joy by the mere mention of those little cubs, he felt both sad and happy.

Lyra looked at the majestic lion king lying on the ground while playing with the cubs in fascination.

Noah’s father made sure to visit his grandsons at the end of the day and played with them until the cubs grew tired and fell asleep.

The little cubs were starting to teeth and Noah refused to let her breastfeed them because he was scared that they might unknowingly hurt her. After that, the cubs slowly started to eat meat and their grandfather was here to teach them about hunting. They were still little to go out to hunt so the lion king made sure to teach them in the garden.

On the first day when she went to see their practice, Lyra was shocked beyond words. Those pair of Grandfather and Grandsons turned the rose garden upside down by running all around the garden. Killian barely surpassed himself by attacking them. The garden was his second favorite place after Lyra’s room in the castle. He and Kenna always practiced their powers in the garden but now the garden was gone.

Noah too felt frustrated with his father and sons. He selected this place for his mate to stay because of the garden but now it was reduced to nothing but debris. Whereas Lyra was alright with it. The most important thing for her was her cubs’ safety. She was okay with sacrificing the garden if it meant for them to learn to hunt without any outside danger.

"Father they are male cubs. Stop spoiling them so much" right now they were seated at the dining table for dinner. Noah took this chance to address his father about the little cub’s attitude. As soon as those words left his mouth, the cubs on the table glared at their father.

"Babies!" Lyra gave a warning look and they meekly lowered their eyes before darting toward their grandfather.

Noah was used to it by now. The little ones were not scared of him. It was also his fault for letting them be for these many days. They were becoming more and more mischievous as days passed, so he decided to become strict.

But all his plans went into the drain when he received two harsh glares directed at him. The first one was Lucas and the Second was his father.

"They are so small, what do you expect them to do? To go and hunt outside?" Lucas snapped.

"You were also like this when you were small," the lion king said supporting Lucas, "Don’t be so harsh on them"

Noah snorted, "Don’t compare them to me. I was competent enough to kill a wild boar at their age" then he glared at the cubs, "And they are only good at catching butterflies in the garden"

Lyra observed them and sighed. In the beginning, she tried to intervene but then it dawned on her that this bickering was normal. So she let them have their ’men’ talk while she concentrated on her dinner.

"They are so noisy..." Killian whined beside her and Lyra rubbed his hand under the table. He was someone who loved silence and that word became foreign after the arrival of the cubs. He was torn. He wanted to go to his room and lock himself up but also wanted to eat dinner with his mate. She was so busy these days that even catching a glimpse of her face was hard. He wanted to spend as much time he could with her but these unreasonable idiots never stopped bickering.
