Chapter 164: Kaizer’s past
Kaizer’s doubts turned out to be true. King Alexander was really dead.
"That bastard deserved it anyway" his thoughts came out of his mouth and Tyler didn’t even flinch hearing his master’s words.
As a Black wolf, Tyler was too affected by the king’s death but he soon recovered. Whereas he noticed that Kaizer didn’t seem even a little bit fazed. ’Well he is more powerful than their late king after all’
"My lord about the throne..." Tyler started but halted when he received a harsh glare from Kaizer.
"And?" Kaizer asked while raising his brows, "Go on continue..."
Tyler took a step back before hesitantly opening his mouth. He would have not dared talk about this if not for the tribe’s sake. The tribe elders were too scared to ask kaizer directly hence they pushed it on Tyler.
"My Lord the throne is empty and elders were asking if you...." He recoiled in his place when the boulder behind Kaizer shattered to dust.
Kaizer’s hands were clenched into fists as he coldly looked at Tyler, "You will be in that boulder’s place the next time you discuss that topic in front of me"
Were they out of their minds? The same people who wanted him out of the tribe because of his identity now wanted him as their king? His blood boiled due to rage.
Kaizer’s father was born a rootless beastman. That means that the beastman who was responsible for his father’s birth was a stray. Stray beasts were the ones abandoned by their mates and their displeasure was directed towards other females rather than their mates. Kaizer really wanted to bury those stray beasts alive. They didn’t dare to face their mates but instead showed off their superiority to other females by forcing themselves on them.
Both Kaizer and his father found that despicable. Following that, the memory of his mother was hazy for Kaizer. He only knew that both his parents loved each other but had to leave the tribe due to the opposition. The tribe elders and then king didn’t approve of his mother having a relationship with his father because he was a rootless beastman.
But his parents didn’t care and gave birth to him outside the tribe but the happy days didn’t last long. A group of unknown beastmen attacked his father and killed him. His mother who was desperate to save Kaizer brought him to the black wolf tribe and left him.
After a few days, he learned that both his mother and father were killed in the same attack. Some sympathized with him while some snickered at him and Kaizer didn’t care about that until now.
His pathetic self didn’t even feel sad in the past because he could not. Kaizer didn’t know what emotions or feelings were. In his memory, his father always had a faint smile around his mother and Kaizer was somewhat jealous of his father in the past. Even after being a rootless beastman, his father found someone who loved him and was happy but Kaizer was not that lucky.
But now.....did he just feel angry? Kaizer felt confused but strangely happy.
And Tyler noticed it. The only emotion his lord showed in the past was either boredom or indifference. Tyler always felt like he was facing an emotionless wild beast whenever he saw Kaizer but now it was different.
"My lord....?"
Kaizer breathed heavily and mumbled in a choked voice, "It’s because of her"
After that, he hurriedly left the cave. Tyler felt amused seeing his lord running while forgetting that he could just teleport to his destination.
Lyra dusted off the dirt on her skirt and glared at the cubs, "You guys are restricted from entering the garden from now on"
The rose garden was reduced to debris but Lyra decided to restore it with her powers after seeing Killian’s sulking face for the past few days. Even Noah was feeling remorseful and whined about how he chose this palace for her stay because of this garden but now it was gone. She too wanted to practice her powers after not doing it during her pregnancy and this was worthwhile.
Lyra knew that she was a half fairy and half something else that she didn’t know or that Darya decided to not disclose. Water was her innate power and she recently learned that fairies had a good affinity with nature.
By chance, she watered the rose bushes with her water power and noticed that the roses grew rapidly. So she continued to restore the garden and was almost done until her little cubs ran around the garden when she was having her lunch and destroyed it once again.
So here she was done with restoring it for the second time while her naughty cubs stood with their heads lowered.
Lyra suddenly didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The cubs were too different from their father.
Noah was the most gentle and calm person she had ever met in her life. She couldn’t visualize him being as mischievous as their cubs.
At last, she couldn’t bear to scold them any longer after seeing their pitiful eyes, "Alright...you can play but promise me that you will not run over the roses?"
The cub’s mood instantly lifted and they merrily ran around her leg before nudging their faces on her claves.
"Rrrrr....." A lowly snarl surprised Lyra. She furrowed her brows before turning around.
"Babies...Get inside the house" the cubs behind their mommy’s legs darted their eyes vigilantly around their surrounding. They noticed the panic in her voice and firmly stood in their places even after her words.
Lyra groaned before looking at them, "Babies...."
She only started but her words came to halt when a heavy body slammed her to the ground. Lyra heard her cubs’ aggravated cry before opening her blue eyes to meet the purple ones.
Lyra quickly recognized the wolf but paled after recalling him being a beastman. She wanted to scream but no voice came out of her throat when she noticed his eyes.
Strangely she didn’t feel scared staring at his gleaming eyes that were filled with desperation. She felt her heart clench seeing the eyes that she adored filled with gloom.
Without her awareness, her right hand stretched toward the wolf’s face, and her fingertips brushed against the snout.
As though yearning more for her touch, the black wolf lowered its head and settled it between her warm palm.
Kaizer felt so many emotions near her. He concluded that this must be what his father must have felt around his mother. Even when his father couldn’t mark his mother, the bond between them was unbreakable.
He berated himself for not noticing these things earlier. He was going through so many emotions around her that he never did in the past. But in his ecstasy, he failed to notice it.
Kaizer’s heart throbbed inside his chest as he gazed at his bunny’s adorable face. He was worried that it might burst out of his body if it continued to beat any longer.
