Chapter 151: Who did it?

Death was not something unfamiliar in the beast world. Leonard himself as his tribe’s warrior in the past and as a king right now had faced numerous battles and duels to defend his tribe. But everyone including him had a principle they followed in the beast world. It is to never attack a fellow beastman when they are out of the battlefield.

King Leonard felt the blood from his face drain when he discerned the dead body’s identity. In the beginning, he couldn’t look at the face clearly because it was beyond damaged to do that. But after getting the corpse down the wall, he immediately recognized the long silver strands...The fox king.

Alan wrinkled his brows before turning the body and he immediately regretted it.

"Cruel bastard" King Leonard couldn’t stop himself from blurting that out. No matter who was responsible for this, that person was someone brutal and frightening.

"Who even is capable of doing this to a five-marked beastman?" Alan muttered while instructing the other guards to shift the body back inside the city.

King Leonard wondered about that too. Five marked beastman are the ones to qualify to become their respective tribe’s kings. He was a five-marked beastman and that is also one of the reasons for his aide Alan to get too worried about this situation.

Alan was an orphan until Leonard took it upon himself to raise him. His spouse too adored Alan and treated him like their own flesh and blood. Alan was a little overprotective about him in particular and Leonard guessed that this might the reason for his anxiety. Killing a king beastman inside the city’s vicinity could be a threat to other tribes too.

"What is the current situation in the fox tribe?" Leonard asked looking at Alan, "Do they even know about the death of their king?"

"We still need to check that your majesty" Alan answered as they started to walk inside the city.

"Make sure to investigate before other tribes get to know. It will be chaos once the news gets out"

Leonard could almost guess the other tribes’ king’s reaction. They too would think of this as a threat to them and their tribes. He felt unpleasant thinking about the upcoming uproar which would destroy the decades-long preserved peace and tranquility.

After inspecting the fox tribe, Alan was stunned. The entire fox tribe and castle were turned upside down with debris collapsing from the stone walls. All of the guard beastmen from the Fox tribe were lying unconscious on the ground.

The death of their king would have an adverse effect on both their bodies and minds. They would lose the spirit to live and their senses will be on high alert until another beastman replaces the previous one to become the new king.

In this case, the fox king’s son will be the one to become the new king...but that psycho. Alan didn’t even want to imagine the aspects that could drastically distort if he arrives. After all, he was ousted out of the beast city when he was young.

"Get a witch master from our tribe to treat the injured ones and then announce the news to kings of all other tribes"

"Yes, leader," the guards said concurrently before going back to their work.

Just an hour after disclosing the news, the entire beast city was sent into panic and turmoil. An urgent meeting was called and every tribe’s kings were asked to attend it without fail.

As the kings of the respective tribes, Blake and Victor too heard the news.

"I’m not going," Victor said stubbornly.

Right now everyone including Blake was lounging on the stone chairs outside the room because Lyra fell asleep earlier.

Blake just came out and heard one of the guard beastman mentioning the death of the fox king and the abrupt gathering of all the beast kings. Blake was shocked when he heard about the unexpected demise of the fox king. It was favorable news for him but he felt conflicted for some reason. The only reason for not killing that fox king was because they didn’t know everyone working behind him.

He and Victor glanced at each other and Blake realized that Victor was thinking the same as him. When Killian implied to kill that fox king, it was two of them that stopped him. Even Demir admitted their concern and refrained from killing him.

"Whose work is this?" Victor’s intense voice brought all of them out of their thoughts.

Blake noticed where Victor’s gaze was directed and warned him, "Victor, stop"

"Let him look" came Killian’s calm voice amidst the chaotic mood. He raised his brow and smirked as he continued, "Even if I did kill him, What are you gonna do about it?"

"Killian, not you too" Blake glanced between them with furrowed brows, "This is not the time to fight amongst ourselves"

"Killian was here with us the whole time," Lucas said getting irritated at Victor’s words, "The fox king’s body was found today evening. How can Killian kill him when he never left this place for a whole day?"

Victor sighed and glanced at Killian, "I apologize. I didn’t think before talking"

"It’s nothing new. You always do that" Demir commented before turning to Noah, "Did they manage to find any traces of the killer?"

"Nothing as of yet" replied Noah, "The corpse was in a dire state when it was found. Every bone inside the body was crushed and he died of severe blood loss. The killer then has managed to hang the dead body on the castle walls amidst misleading the eyes of multiple patrolling guards around that place"

"Only a higher level beastman can do something like that" Lucas said worriedly, "The fox king was a five marked beastman and for him to die in such a dire situation.....the murderer might be an immortal beastman"

"He is an immortal beastman," Killian said with conviction, "Every available clue is directly pointing at that"

"True," said Demir. He was not able to understand their worry because the death of that bastard was advantageous for them. Demir always believed in finishing the threat before the threat gains more power. But he remained calm for these many days because he did not prefer arguing with Blake and Victor about unnecessary things. Demir acknowledged that he and Killian might get a little impulsive, so they decided to follow the other’s suggestion.

"Are there any other immoral beastman other than us inside the city?" Killian was the one to question this. He guessed that by this, they could find the killer sooner.

"The Eagle king," Victor said, "He is also powerful enough to kill a five marked king beastman"

"That it!" Lucas exclaimed while getting up from his stone chair, "He must be the killer"

Blake frowned and said, "I know another one" everyone excluding Killian turned to look at him in confusion as he continued, "An immortal and rootless beastman from the black wolf tribe"
