Chapter 150: Stay back
Chapter 150: Stay back
Lyra observed as Blake sat beside her with his head lowered.
The others started to walk out of the room after looking at the gloomy cloud on top of Blake’s head. All of them felt guilty for not informing him sooner about Lyra’s condition, Hell they didn’t even think about it until they saw him coming here.
Or maybe they instinctively felt that it was better without him here.
Killian still felt sour about his soulmate loving another male so much.
Meanwhile, Victor always saw Blake as an eye sour. His sweet girl’s complete attention would get shifted from him to that snake as soon as he entered the scene and he couldn’t help but feel envious.
Demir was simple-minded. He was fine with Blake’s presence in her life as long as his sunshine loved him. He would consider Blake as a hindrance only if she stopped loving him for that snake’s sake.
Whereas, Noah didn’t have too many thoughts about Blake because his baby dove loved him enough. And when he glanced down at his babies in his hands, he felt contended.
Lucas still sometimes felt regretful about losing Lyra back in that stream. If not for that incident, Blake wouldn’t be even here in the first place but Lucas couldn’t brush away the favor that snake did by allowing him beside her back then.
They left the room with too many thoughts swirling inside their mind.
Lyra stretched her hand and caressed his handsome face, "I’m fine...."
Blake looked up at her with his gleaming eyes, "I’m sorry" He felt embarrassed and angry at himself for avoiding her the last few days. He didn’t want her to leave their house to go to the lion tribe.
Lyra chuckled pecked his pouting lips and said, "It’s alright, Blake"
Her leniency unnerved him so much. Blake just wished that she would get angry and lash out at him rather than forgive him so easily.
"I’m not going to scold you" her gentle voice brought him out of his thoughts.
"Why?" He asked leaning his head against her shoulder. His brows furrowed sensing her feebleness when she slumped in his embrace. He quickly shifted their position and laid behind her by supporting her weight against him.
Lyra couldn’t stop her lips from forming a smile due to his actions. He just came and already knew about her exhaustion and made her comfortable naturally without her informing him anything about it.
She encircled her arms around his neck and kissed the side of his head, "I missed you too much for the last few days and do not want to waste this moment by scolding you"
Blake felt his heart melt hearing his mate’s words. He always felt that he was the luckiest beastman alive when he was in Lilly’s presence.
As two love birds continued to immerse themselves in their own worlds, Noah handed the two cubs in his hands to the eager-looking lion king.
"They are my grandsons?" The lion king looked at his son with disbelief and unshed tears in the corner of his eyes.
Noah smiled at his father who was so overcome with happiness.
King Leonard couldn’t tear his gaze away from the two little cubs in his arms. They were so small that he could grasp them with one of his palms. He suddenly remembered Noah when he was little as he continued to watch the cubs. When Noah was born, Leonard was not able to celebrate the birth of his heir because Noah’s siblings died during the labor. His mate’s anguish and despair-filled eyes still plagued him.
He closed his eyes and slowly opened them to see his little grandsons. They came like a bundle of happiness to his mate, him, and his entire tribe. Tribe elders were nagging him to introduce his grandsons to them. They wanted to determine the future king by assessing the two cubs but Leonard didn’t want that to happen. He wants these two to grow up healthy and happy because he didn’t want them to grow up with a burden called pride.
Leonard still felt guilty for his son because Noah was always busy with the tribe’s matters. Due to being the only heir to him, his son grew up with burdens and expectations from both the elders and his own tribesmen. Leonard promised himself to never let his grandson in this trouble.
Then something flashed in his mind and he looked at his son, "You are living here from now on right?" His question was comprised of expectations. Leonard didn’t want to separate from his grandsons even for a minute and he believed that it was the same for his mate. She too would get sad if Noah and his son’s mate left with their grandsons.
"It would be difficult for your mate to handle two cubs single-handedly. At least here, your mother will be there to help her if she doesn’t know or finds something hard" the lion king tried to come up with reasons to make his son stay back.
Noah could understand his father’s worry but the gaze of several higher-level beastman rendered him unable to speak. He in actuality knew that one wrong word or suggestion would get him slammed across the stone wall and he also didn’t want a commotion breaking out in his tribe.
"I will be there to take care of them" he finally said and noticed the atmosphere around him getting relaxed.
The lion king looked conflicted but he sighed and decided to remain silent. His son’s female has other mates and he realized that it was insensitive of him to talk about her staying here in front of them.
"Alright," he said and then glanced at his grandsons with a smile on his lips, "But make sure you bring them here as much as you can"
Noah nodded his head with a faint smile on his face, "I’ll do that"
When everyone was immersed in their own world, a guard beastman from the lion tribe rushed inside the castle with a pale face.
"Your majesty!" He exclaimed to get the lion king’s attention. The guard was not able to stop his legs from trembling even after seeing his king. His every fear and anxiety would seize just by being in his king’s presence but today was not the same. The message that he received from patrolling guards still shook him to the core.
Noah and the lion king looked at the guard in confusion. Leonard carefully handed his grandsons back to Noah before returning his gaze to his aide, "What’s wrong Alan?"
Alan glanced at the others in the room and said, "It is something important your majesty. I would like to discuss it with you in private"
Leonard glanced at his son before leaving that place. He followed Alan out of the tribe in silence because he felt that his aide was still in panic due to some unknown circumstance.
After walking for half an hour, they finally reached the entrance of the beast city.
King Leonard followed his aide’s line of sight and froze in his place. A beastman’s body...no to be more precise a beastman’s corpse was hanging on the city walls with fresh blood dripping down making the ground moist and crimson.
