Chapter 138: Humiliation

Kaizer stood dumbfounded hearing her words. ’What is wrong with her?’ He couldn’t comprehend if she is either brave.....or naive.

Unbeknownst to the big bad wolf’s inner turmoil, Lyra continued to remove the moist soil around his limbs using a stick and after a few minutes, she finally succeed, "Ah....done!"

Then she looked up at him with her sparkling blue eyes, "Try moving now"

Kaizer came out of his thoughts and took a step forward and Lyra beamed like a mother who saw her child walking for the first time.

He felt both bewildered and embarrassed by her vivid expressions and slowly walked out of the rose bushes.

Lyra looked at the giant wolf beside her and closed her eyes. He had some small injuries on his body due to the thorns so she decided to heal him. The possibility of the wolf being a beastman never crossed her mind because she thought that the beastman could have easily come out of that thorn-filled bushes by shifting to his human form.

So she thought that he is just a wild wolf who is docile and calm.

After healing him, she opened her eyes and smiled at him. His stunning amethyst eyes caught her attention, "Your eyes are pretty"

Kaizer blinked his beautiful big eyes at her compliment. It was the first time for someone to like his eyes rather than getting scared and he felt pleased that the one to like his eyes was his bunny.

He roamed his eyes on her and noticed small bloodied scratches on her arms. Kaizer felt his heart clench seeing her injury. ’Why are you not healing your wounds?’ He wanted to ask this but he was not able to do that in his beast form.

Feeling frustrated, he went towards her and nudged her hand.

Lyra looked at him in confusion, "What’s wrong?" She thought that he might be still in pain. ’Did I miss some injury?’ She thought to herself and started scanning his fur-coated body.

As though understanding her motive, he shook his head and licked her scratches.

"Oh" only then did she realize what he was trying to say, "I can’t use my healing powers on myself" she tried sometimes to heal herself but every time it failed. Either Killian or Kyrell who would sometimes sneak inside her room used their powers to heal the small cuts that she inflicted on her herself.

Kaizer blinked in disbelief, hearing her words. ’Such a useless power’ he thought inwardly. What is the use of having power such as healing and not even being able to use it on themselves? What frustrated him more is how he could not use his powers to heal her injuries.

The darkness that he wielded is not something pure and gentle like Lyra’s powers. It can not heal but only destroy, So he felt helpless in this situation.

Without any other choice, he tried to lick her injuries but Lyra avoided him and said, "It’s fine, my mates will heal this"

She said this to not worry the adorable wolf anymore but her words ignited an unknown emotion inside Kaizer’s heart.

His amethyst eyes brewed with fury towards her males. Kaizer hated this feeling.....He wanted to rip apart every man on her side! She is his bunny!

"What is wrong with you?" He came out of his thoughts hearing her voice.

Lyra frowned looking at the giant wolf in front of her. He was glaring at her with his pretty eyes and it made her nervous for some reason.

Kaizer realized his sudden burst of emotions and felt guilty. He knew that he had no right to feel like this....but still, he went towards her and rubbed his face against her hands.

Her heart melted at his adorable gesture and she caressed his head, "How cute....."

Kaizer felt embarrassed by her words but still, he couldn’t bring himself to stop her. He just wanted to enjoy some more of her warmth and sweet voice.

’Just a little more....then I will leave’ he kept on chanting this continuously as he closed his eyes and enjoyed her soft hands against his head.

Lyra smiled at him and surprisingly her heart ached for the big wolf. No matter how much she tried to deny it, something in her pulled her to him. His beautiful eyes looked dull and sad and Lyra had an impulse to hug him tightly to dispel all his grief.

And she did just that. Kneeling on the ground, she encircled her arms around his head and embraced him.

Kaizer widened his eyes and froze in his place. His pupils shook with unknown feelings that bubbled inside his heart for the first time.

He rested his head on the crook of her neck and inhaled her addictive scent that made him delirious. He couldn’t believe this, ’His bunny hugged him!’

Kaizer had an impulse of turning back to his beastman form, but he dismissed it as soon as it came to his mind. He knew that she hugged him because she thought of him as an ordinary wolf and Kaizer didn’t want to break this precious moment by revealing the truth.

’It is fine like this’ he thought inwardly. It was fine as long as he could remain by her side. Kaizer felt that he could live his entire life as a beast if it meant staying near her. His pride meant nothing in front of her.

He wanted to laugh at himself. From when had he come such a coward? He couldn’t help but question himself and he also knew the answer to that. It was when he looked at his bunny’s dazzling eyes which held so much warmth and love. His arrogance plummeted the moment he fell in front of her when he tried to kidnap her.

Kaizer was surprised by his overwhelming emotions. He always thought that he was not capable of feeling like this. He is a rootless beast, born without emotions....but, why is his heart beating so loudly in her embrace? For a single minute, he even felt that his heart would stop without her.

On the other hand, Lyra was oblivious to his thoughts. She just wanted to comfort the big wolf after looking at his desperate and sad eyes.

She suddenly felt him breathing heavily and stroked his fur, "It’s alright.." As though on cue, his breathing became calm as soon as those words left her mouth.

Lyra pulled away from him and tried to stand up as her knees were hurting but because of her sudden movement, Kaizer fell to the ground face-first.

He was very relaxed in her embrace that he even forgot to stand and that resulted in him falling. As the ground contained moist soil, some got inside his snout making him irritated.

Kaizer wanted the ground to swallow him up. Why was he always embarrassing himself in front of her? His dignity was nonexistent at this rate and he closed his eyes in misery when he heard her suppressed giggle.

Lyra tried her best to contain her laughter. She could easily read his face. He was trying so hard to not show his embarrassment but she saw it. More than anything, the giant wolf felt familiar.

"You are just like him" Saying that she burst into laughter. Now she remembered the familiarity, he was just like that clumsy intruder.

Kaizer didn’t have a hard time figuring out the ’Him’ she was referring to. He was a cent percent sure that the one she was talking about is himself.

"Hahaha....haha" Lyra continued to laugh while holding her stomach and Kaizer’s face became darker the more she laughed.

His earlier resolution broke and he sprinted out of the garden exiting the rose castle. Kaizer felt like he would continue to embarrass himself if he stood in front of her.

Lyra looked at the retreating back of the wolf and sighed, "He must have felt bad" she chided herself for hurting the poor animal’s pride. She swore that she would offer meat to him if ever he returned to soothe his heart.

Meanwhile, inside the castle, Killian felt an ominous power lurking around the vicinity. He rushed out of his room to find Lyra and caught sight of her in the rose garden outside the castle.

"What are you doing here?" Lyra turned around hearing his voice and replied, "I was taking a walk"

"All alone?" He asked feeling worried, "You should have called me"

Lyra walked to him and hugged him, "You were still sleeping. I did not want to disturb you"

Killian sighed and hugged her back, "From now on, wake me up whenever you go out"

"Is something wrong?" Lyra sensed the distress in his voice and asked but he just shook his head.

"It’s nothing" he gritted his teeth in anger when he sensed an unfamiliar ambiance around her. It was too powerful but he felt that it was not something that was trying to harm his mate instead, it was entailing her like a protective barrier.
