Chapter 137: Poor thing

Back in the rose castle, Lyra sighed cleaning the soup which was spread on the floor.

She didn’t have any other choice but to cook lunch once again. But this time, she decided to stir fry some remaining meat and took it to the second floor.

Entering Victor’s room, she saw that he was still busy looking at the fabrics. For a moment, she didn’t know what to feel about his lack of awareness regarding his surroundings.

It was alright for now that the clumsy intruder just left without doing anything, but what if he was someone dangerous? Well, that intruder didn’t look dangerous, so she came out of her thoughts and stepped inside while still holding the lunch in her hands.

"Victor?" He was too lost in his thoughts, so she had to nudge his shoulder to get his attention.

He raised his brows in question and she glared at him, "Come and eat your lunch!"

Victor just chuckled at her angry face and pecked her lips, "I will eat the lunch, so stop being mad my sweet girl"

She softened at his smooth words but still, she kept her straight face and made him sit on the bed, "Now eat it"

He looked at her outstretched hand and couldn’t help but smile. Beastmen didn’t need to eat every day because they could just hunt bigger prey in their beast forms every two to three days. But that is until he met his sweet girl. No matter how much he or others explained she was not convinced and made sure that they eat every day in front of her.

"Sweet girl, it is really alright for us males to go on without eating anything for some days" he once again tried to clarify but just as he anticipated, Lyra kept a straight face and picked up a meat piece using a wooden spoon from the stone bowl and held it against his mouth.

"I don’t believe your words," she said. How could she believe his or her other mates’ words when they sometimes forgot to even go out for a hunt? Lucas and Noah were always busy with their tribe matters. Blake would go out to hunt with their babies but she didn’t think that he would get any chance to eat as he would be preoccupied with looking after their sons.....They are very mischievous. Then that guy Killian, would either always stick with her or would be found practicing with Kenna. Lyra still didn’t know about Demir and Kyrell because they are not yet her mates and did not live with them.

Then she looked at the handsome face in front of her. Lyra’s heart ached just imagining the torment he went through these past weeks due to his mind being controlled. She leaned and kissed his cheeks, "I’m worried about you..."

Victor parted his mouth instinctively at her sad voice and she fed him until the bowl was empty.

Lyra looked at him and wiped the grease around his mouth, "Clumsy" she muttered inwardly and the first person that came to her mind as soon as she said that word is the amethyst-colored-eyed intruder.

A small smile adorned her lips remembering his embarrassed face when he tried to get up from the ground.

Meanwhile, back inside his cave in the black wolf tribe, Kaizer couldn’t get a certain bunny’s face out of his mind no matter how much he tried.

"Idiot!" He cursed at himself for an umpteenth time that day, "She must have already forgotten my miserable face and here I am...." He groaned feeling frustrated at himself.

Tyler just stepped inside the cave and flinched hearing Kaizer scolding himself, "Has he finally gone insane?" He asked no one in particular and the worst thing here was that it did not even surprise him about Kaizer’s craziness.

He was assigned to take care of Kaizer’s needs by the black wolf tribe’s king and there was not a single day that he had not cursed his luck for putting him in such a dilemma. Kaizer or Lord Kaizer as everyone called him was one of the craziest beastman he had ever seen. His lord’s fluctuations in mood and sickening hobby of annoying others made Tyler’s skin crawl.

"My lord?" He meekly called him and recoiled receiving a glare from Kaizer.

"What is it!?"

Tyler gulped and parted his lips, "My lord, his majesty asked if he could talk to you for a few minutes" he shrunk and added, "He said that it is something important"

Kaizer gritted his teeth, "I AM NOT GOING TO ATTACK THE SNAKE TRIBE!" Is that king dumb? He couldn’t help but think like that. From when was he at the beck and call for some old bastard!? Just because he lived here did not mean that the king could control his actions.

Tyler tried his best to remain standing after hearing Kaizer’s booming voice. He trembled in his place because of the immense beast pressure directed at him, "I-I’ll inform this to his majesty, my Lord" he weakly said before slipping out of the cave.

Kaizer observed Tyler as he scurried away with his fists clenched, "Spineless bastards!" He spat in venom laced voice. He hated people like him, weak and timid. And the biggest reason for him to hate such weaklings is that he felt envious of them. Yes, he felt furious thinking how some people had a choice between being weak or strong, unlike him who could die the next second he became weak.

He was a rootless beast after all...And that thought brought out a sad smile on his lips. Others feared him because of his strength and he has to admit that it made him contented in some way. Even now, a rootless beast like him was not allowed to stay inside a tribe, but here is. The black wolf tribe’s king begged him to stay in his tribe because he wanted to boast about having an immortal beastman in his tribe.

Kaizer chuckled sardonically. He couldn’t help but think about having a normal life like others. A life where he did not have to rely on his powers, Where he could just be himself. Was it wrong of him to wish this?

When he thought about it, the first one to come to his mind was that annoying snake. Kaizer hated how that snake looked so smug, arrogant, and rude but more than anything.....he looked happy. And the reason for that is because of that ’bunny’

"Should I just kidnap her and take her away?" He murmured to himself. As ridiculous as it sounded, Kaizer felt that it is a good idea at this moment. But then he remembered her words with a frown on his face, ’Also, I think it is better if drop your idea of kidnapping anyone else in the future’. Her giggle still chimed in his ears like a sweet melody when she said those words.

"Ugh....." He groaned in frustration. Kaizer still felt embarrassed and furious at himself for being so clumsy in front of her. Her easy-going attitude in front of him indicated how she did not fear him or worst did not even take him seriously.

He shook his head. He couldn’t leave it like this, "I’m going to scare her so much that she doesn’t dare laugh at me again!" He made his decision and went to the rose castle the very next morning.

Lyra was taking her morning walk in her rose garden when she caught sight of a giant black wolf in the middle of the rose bushes.

She blinked her eyes not being able to believe the image in front of her. Yes, the wolf looked big and intimidating, and for a second she got sacred but more than that, Lyra wanted to laugh out loud.

Lyra observed how the wolf did not even notice her presence as he was busy figuring his exit out of the thick rose bushes. Both his fore and hind limbs stuck inside the moist ground were not helping him either.

On the other hand, Kaizer felt irritated at his current situation. Back inside his cave, he shifted to his beast form and teleported to his bunny’s nearest location but somehow ended up stuck inside the thorn-filled rose bushes and mud beneath his legs. He sighed and wanted to just get out by force but halted his movements when he heard a sweet voice.

"Don’t move" Lyra looked at the wolf’s amethyst eyes and added, "You will hurt yourself if you move carelessly"

Kaizer went into a trance looking at her beautiful face and Lyra made her way toward him by slightly pushing the rose bushes aside. Few of the thorns scraped her delicate skin but she didn’t mind because freeing the innocent animal mattered more to her.

She did not even realize why she was so brave in front of such a big wolf. It felt just right to help him and she somehow felt that he would not harm her.

Lyra reached him and removed the soil around his legs with a stick.

Kaizer came out of his daze and looked at the small figure on the ground. He soon remembered his purpose and snarled to scare her but widened his eyes when she looked at him with worry-filled eyes, "Poor thing...Just a minute, I’ll get you out of here"

Lyra guessed that he must have been scratched by the thorns. He must have been stuck here for so long, she thought naively and felt bad for him.

Meanwhile, Kaizer was speechless by her words. Did she just call him a ’Poor thing?’
