Chapter 117: Lexi

FOX CASTLE

A shrill scream of a woman pierced through the castle walls making everyone anxious. The guard beastman in front of a door glanced at each other but one gathered his courage and asked, "Are you alright my lady?"

’Bam’ some heavy object was thrown at the door making them flinch and that followed a cold voice, "Let me out, you bastards!"

"We apologize but we can’t let you out until the king says so my lady" they replied firmly making Lexi even angrier.

Inside the room, she glanced at her shoulder where her mate’s mark had disappeared two days ago with tears in her eyes. Lexi was sure that something had happend to her spouse when she felt pain in her shoulders following the disappearance of his mating mark. She was clueless when her father abruptly summoned her to the fox tribe, but now she realized that he had done that to keep her safe.

Lexi tried to think rationally and accept reality, but her heart refused to do that. Derek was the only male she had ever accepted because of love rather than her father’s insistence. It was also true that her father was pleased to have a king as a son-in-law but the affection she showed for Derek was genuine and she felt dreadful for not knowing his current situation.

It was just hope, she wanted to have a little bit of hope that Derek was gravely injured but not yet dead causing the mark to disappear. Lexi wanted to get out of this place to look for him but her father was not allowing her to even take a step out of this room.

After some time, her father finally entered the room wearing a grim face and that made her heart sink, "Father, what happened to Derek?"

Jacob looked at her and sighed, "He is dead, his younger brother killed him off and seized the throne"

"No!" she shouted and got up from the bed, "Derek.....No....How can?" words caught up in her mouth making it difficult for her to speak.

"You have to stay strong Lexi" Jacob hugged his daughter trying to console her, "It’ll be alright"

But she shook her head still in his embrace, "Nothing is going to be alright father, My Derek.....he is gone"

"Don’t lose faith Lexi!" he said sternly making her confused, "After finding the sapphire of wish, we can bring Derek back to life"

"What?"

He nodded, "I ordered men to bring back Derek’s body from the eagle tribe" he chose to not tell about the missing heart of the body because he didn’t want to add more to his daughter’s sorrow and continued, "Just wait until I get hold of the Sapphire of wish. I will make sure to bring both your uncle and your spouse back to life"

"Uncle Henrick?" She asked hesitantly. Lexi was not dumb, she knew about her father’s search for the gem which could grant wishes. But her knowledge was only up to that because her father was too secretive to reveal more. She sometimes tried to get more information from Derek but he too did not disclose much to keep her safe from this issue, so she had no other choice but to ask her other mates to spy on her father. It worked and she found out some things about how her father was desperate to find the gem and the master of that gem but it never crossed her mind that the reason for all of this was to bring back her uncle to life.

Jacob observed his daughter’s face and decided to reveal the secret that he had been keeping from her, "The reason for me to seek the gem so desperately is because of my brother. I want to bring him back to life and end everyone responsible for his death"

Lexi was confused, "Wasn’t grandfather.....?" she closed her mouth as soon as those words left her mouth. Her father was sensitive about his father who killed her uncle, so she decided to not ask any further about this.

Jacob understood her remarks, "Your grandfather had no choice then because Henrick betrayed us. The real sinner here is the one who made my brother a traitor, our family would have not ended like this if that wench did not appear in my brother’s life"

She raised her brows not knowing about the woman Jacob mentioned but remained silent and continued to hear him, "My father instructed Henrick to guard that wench until the day of blood eclipse but everything turned upside down when that female seduced and escaped together with him out of my father’s clutches" he clenched his jaw trying to suppress his anger, "Your grandfather was furious about your uncle’s betrayal and chased after them. Even at that moment, my brother didn’t reveal her location but died saving her"

Lexi silently observed her father and carefully parted her lips, "Who is that female? And why was grandfather keeping her captive?"

Her father glanced at her, "You do know about gem having a master right?"

"Derek mentioned it once in passing" she replied vaguely.

He nodded, "The gem can grant wishes no matter how big but only if it is asked by the owners of it. The female who my father kept captive was Iria" she frowned but widened her eyes hearing his next words, "She is Lucas’s mate’s mother and right now the master of the gem is Lyra"

Lexi stood frozen in her place trying to process the new information. Lyra? Elena’s rival was the owner of gem? Hah! now she hated her even more.

"We can get help from the black wolf tribe if that is the case, father," she said enthusiastically, "Elena and her father hates that female after being humiliated in that banquet. We should join them and take her down"

"I was also thinking the same" he agreed with his daughter’s suggestion, "Gathering as many allies as possible is necessary for this situation"

She nodded finding a glimmer of hope to bring back her beloved to life.

As Jacob was thinking about visiting the Black wolf tribe in the coming days, the king of that tribe was discussing something serious with his tribesmen, "He is awake?"

One of the beastman inside the meeting room nodded his head with fear-stricken eyes, "When I went near his cave yesterday, I heard a growl coming out of it. Getting curious, I entered the cave to only find him staring back at me with that amethyst eyes" he rubbed his arms as he recalled that moment and continued, "He took a threatening step towards me and I ran out of the cave as fast as I could to save my life"

The King clicked his tongue, "Why did he suddenly wake up now of all time when we are getting ready for a battle?" After being humiliated by the snake king in the banquet, Alexander was restless and he wanted nothing but to payback the snake king. So he was secretly getting ready to attack the snake tribe, but now he had to face an even bigger dilemma.

He glanced at everyone in front of him, "Provide everything he requires and avoid him from getting out of his cave"

"He doesn’t listen to other’s words your majesty," one of them said.

The King frowned, "Just do as I say, he is not interested in the outside world so make sure to keep him there as much as possible"

"Yes your majesty" everyone said in unison and left their seats.
