Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 75: His cold behaviour
Chapter 75: His cold behaviour
VALENCIA’S POV
Isn’t this a good morning? I asked Aurora, who rolled her eyes at me while I chuckled awkwardly.
Yes. I just had a failed attempt at lightening her mood. Why? Because I just exited the hospital.
The doctor said that I’d have to take care of myself and keep myself away from any strenuous activities. And since he couldn’t tell whether I had a wolf or not, he clearly said in exclaiming words that I should refrain from transforming into my wolf.
And guess what? Aurora has been peachy since then. Not changing into a wolf means no changing into a cat either.
’Come on. Look at the brighter side. We saved someone’s life,’ I pouted at her and she rolled her eyes.
’You could’ve done it in a much better way but no, you had to pretend to be a heroine. You could’ve easily dodged that hit if you were concentrating,’ Aurora blamed me dramatically.
It was funny how it was me who had to go through all the pain and everything and yet I was the one mollifying her into not getting angry and peachy.
"Valencia? What are you doing here? Coming out of the hospital?" I heard a familiar voice, and I turned to look at Angela.
"Me? I just came here for a regular checkup due to the fire accident? The doctor recommended that I come here again to ensure I don’t have any PTSD. What about you?" I asked her, casually dodging any suspicion.
Yes. I was becoming a pro at lying.
"Nothing much. I just came to take my regular checkup reports," Angela said.
We both went to the University together after that.
I couldn’t help but look at Shadow for a couple of seconds as soon as he entered the room, making me immediately think about the night we spent together.
’And this sounded so hot in our head,’ Aurora winked, a blush rising to my cheeks as I averted my gaze quickly before he could catch me ogling at him.
"Want to go shopping later? For the dresses," Aiden whispered in my ears.
I turned to him before humming vaguely.
Come on, dude. You are like my best friend, but let me ogle at this hot piece of meat who is walking on the podium like he was walking on the altar of... I cleared my throat to remove the thought from my head.
"Let’s take rentals. I don’t really think I would be needing that or any kind of gown shortly, and I don’t have any heart to fill my wardrobe with useless clothes," I said and he nodded.
"That’s actually sustainable. I’ll do the same then," he said.
Surprisingly, Shadow didn’t look in my direction even once, and I pressed my lips into a thin line, not liking how it was going. Usually, he would’ve looked at me ten times already even if it was to glare at me.
Was something bothering him?
I couldn’t concentrate on the entire lecture.
I don’t know why he was acting like that, but his acting like that was surely bothering me and the fact that it was bothering me was bothering me even more.
Uhh... What the hell was I even saying?
I tightened my grip around the pen in my hand while taking the notes, finding it hard to take it anymore.
"Are you okay?" Aiden whispered in my ears, and I was about to answer him when Tracy turned around.
"Angela told me you went to the hospital because of the fire accident. Is everything okay?" She asked.
It was as if she dropped some kind of time bomb. As soon as Aiden heard those words, he held my hand so that my entire focus was on him.
"Hospital? What happened? Why didn’t you tell me? Because of the party? That can go to hell and -" he started shooting the questions one after the other, and I sighed.
"Aiden, everything is -" I started, but couldn’t complete my sentence when Shadow’s cold voice came.
"The chatting students in the back, get out of the class," He said.
I averted my gaze from Aiden to Shadow, but he wasn’t looking at me once again.
"But sir-" Aiden started, probably to explain on my behalf because he knew how much credit mattered to me, but honestly, I didn’t really care that much.
Not in the moment at least. He was acting like a complete ass today. Probably his alpha did something to him, but he didn’t need to take it out on me.
Without giving any explanation or pleading, I stood from my seat and walked out of the class.
It hurt.
No. His ignorance wasn’t hurting me.
My freaking abdomen was hurting me because of how abruptly I stood, and I looked around trying to spot a bench or something to sit on again because standing like this took a toll on me.
"Valencia, what’s with you? You could’ve explained -" Aiden started, but he probably saw the expression on my face because he stopped immediately as his pupils dilated.
"Valencia? Hey, hey, what’s wrong? Why are you sweating so much?" He whispered, and I shook my head before sliding down the wall and sitting on the floor, feeling much better.
I know multiple questions were going inside Aiden’s head. And he was tempted to ask them. He was a street fighter and an active gang member of his father’s gang, for god’s sake.
He probably felt suspicious the moment he saw the bruise marks on my hand when I accidentally pulled up my sleeve in front of him.
Though my wounds heal faster and the bruise must’ve gone by now, it was all because my healing powers were busy healing my abdomen and the muscles, that the bruises were still there.
"I am not going to ask you who you got into a fight with or anything, but at least let me help you if you are hurting," Aiden sat beside me and held my hand.
I looked at our hands where he intertwined his fingers with mine.
"Aiden, it’s just a little personal," I whispered and he hummed.
"I understand that. Don’t I always understand that? But at least it helps you a little. Take this as my guilty or selfish conscience because I would still want you to join the party with me," He said, looking into my eyes with a soft concerned expression.
His blue eyes, so clear of any malice or malign towards me made me want to tell him the entire truth so he could stop being so nice to me and run away if he wanted to, but I also knew Shadow was right behind the wall in the classroom and if he even got as much as a hint of what I told Aiden, I would end up in dungeons the first thing.
"Thanks for always understanding," I said in the end before placing my head on his shoulders.
It wasn’t long before the sound of students whispering loudly came.
The lecture probably ended, and I sat straight, not wanting people to spread rumors about us.
"Let me help you," He quickly stood and held my hand.
I was about to place my hand on his when I felt him.
His presence was right beside me, and I turned to look at him.
"Why do you always end up in a situation where people need to help you? Don’t you get tired of this?" Shadow’s cold words felt like stabbing me in the heart, and I averted my gaze quickly.
If his ignorance earlier didn’t hurt me, his cold expression and words just now as if he was pitying me were definitely hurting me.
’What’s wrong with him?’ Aurora asked, and I took Aiden’s hand.
"Be gentle," I told him, not wanting to hurt my muscles, but before Aiden could pull me up, I felt arms being wrapped around my back.
I gasped at his sudden proximity.
"Aiden, go to the dean’s office and help me inform the dean that I will be available for the meeting after an hour," Shadow said as he lifted me effortlessly, and I looked at Aiden before shaking my head.
I didn’t want to be alone with Shadow, not when I was feeling like he would hurt me with his words, and I might not be able to conceal it.
However, faced with Shadow’s stern gaze, Aiden could only turn around and leave.
"Shadow put me down this instant," I locked my jaws, looking at him with a glare.
He didn’t say anything, his silence making me want to bite the hell out of his neck, and I swear, I would’ve done the same if we weren’t in the University.
Thank God the students already left for the lunch break and no one was in the corridor to see what he was doing.
"I said put me down!" I raised my voice, and he finally looked me in the eyes, his eyes brewing a storm that made my heart skip a beat.
Seeing he wasn’t going to respond to my words, I turned my head and noticed how he took a turn right.
"Hey, this isn’t the way to the infirmary. Where are you taking me?" I looked at him, and it wasn’t long before I got my answer.
He unlocked the door to his temporary cabin as if he wasn’t carrying a heavy girl in his arms before he took me inside and locked it.
I looked at him warily when he placed me on the desk, not even bothering with the assignment sheets that he threw on the ground without thinking twice.
"Shadow, what’s -"
He stepped close and hugged me, snuggling his face in the crook of my neck.
"It’s out of my hands already. I know it’s quite unethical but I want it. You can hate me for doing this but I can’t take it anymore," Shadow breathed into my neck heavily.
He couldn’t take it anymore? Out of his hand? What was he talking about? Was he telling me he revealed something to his alpha or something?
Thump. Thump. My heart drummed. No. It was pounding in my ears as I anticipated his next move.
"Shadow, what are you-" Before I could finish my sentence, he pulled away and placed his lips on the corner of my lips to stop me from speaking.
"Let me kiss you. A real kiss," He whispered against my skin, making my pupils dilate.
