VALENCIA’S POV

"You have a nice home. Quite cozy, I must say," Shadow walked around, and I smiled bitterly.

Now how do I ask him to get out of my house because the plans changed suddenly?

"Thank you," I forced a smile, knowing all too well I couldn’t be rude to him when I was the one who invited him.

He turned around and looked at me with furrowed brows.

"Your complexion doesn’t look so good anymore. Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell," Shadow asked as he stepped closer, with his hand extended towards me.

"Don’t move!" I stepped back, and he looked at me, confused.

I tried to calm my heart.

Calm down, Valencia. Why are you making it look like it’s some big deal when it’s not? He is here for dinner.

’But what if we are his food? Imagine him eating-’ Aurora started speaking, and I nearly choked on my saliva.

She wasn’t helping at all!!

"Is everything alright? Why are you acting so defensive and-" Shadow started, looking awkward, and I chuckled before clapping my hands and turning around.

Hahaha... What should I say? I looked around, coming up with an excuse before smiling.

"I was just playing statue with you. You can move now," I chuckled awkwardly before walking straight to the kitchen.

Well, what can I feed this big guy? I don’t really know what he would prefer.

But that wasn’t the problem. The problem was, would I be able to cook it well? What if he doesn’t like my cooking? What if he -

Wait. Why the hell am I worrying about these useless things?

Act natural, Valencia. Act normal!! I scolded myself before turning around.

However, that was a bad decision.

My breath hitched when I saw how close he was standing to me while leaning down, his face almost right in front of my face.

"What are you talking to yourself about?" He asked.

What was I talking to myself about? What could it be?

"Movies?" I asked him, and he looked at me amused.

"Well, it looks like you don’t have anything prepared at home. It’s a good thing.

Since I invited you to dinner, let me cook something for you. Let me borrow the ingredients though," He said.

I looked at him, surprised.

"You will cook?" I asked, and he chuckled as if I cracked some kind of joke.

"I am not here to become a burden on you, kitten. And you can stop acting like my presence here is some kind of big deal," Shadow said, and I sighed.

He noticed it.

Well, he can’t really blame me for that. He was from the enemies’ regions.

"Besides, it’s not like it’s my first time here-" Shadow stopped speaking, and I looked at him, surprised.

What did he say?

"Not your first time?" I asked, watching his expression that definitely flickered this time.

Could it be what I felt last night wasn’t a dream, and he was indeed there?

"Yes. It’s not my first time in the kitchen. You can trust my cooking skills," Shadow said.

I sighed when I realized that he was talking about cooking and not entering my house.

"Can I help?" I asked and he smiled.

"Why not?" He whispered before he kept telling me what to do and how to do things.

Since I already knew how to cook, helping him wasn’t hard, but I was truly amazed at how refined his skills were.

Honestly, I was starting to doubt if he acted as a personal chef for the Alpha as his side gig.

I looked at the man, who was standing there, wearing a blue colored apron which was looking a bit little on him, and couldn’t help but smile at him.

It was good and fun honestly.

Working with him was almost like playing. He made the simplest tasks so fun-inducing.

"Help me stir the sauce," He said, and I walked to him.

"Should I add the coriander leaves now or later?" I turned around, wincing when I accidentally touched the hot pan.

However, I quickly clenched my fists, putting my hot finger in my mouth to ease the pain.

Thank God he didn’t see, or I wasn’t sure if I would’ve been able to bear with that filmy scene where the man takes the girl’s finger and puts it in his mouth to ease her pain.

That’s so cringe and -

"F*ck!" He groaned, and I saw he accidentally cut his index finger.

"Careful!" I rushed to him before pulling him towards the sink and helped him wash the blood before placing his finger in his mouth to stop the bleeding sooner.

’Someone was talking about the filmy scene just now,’ Aurora teased me, and I cleared my throat before looking up, ready to scold him for not looking while working when I gazed into his eyes.

And his eyes, why the hell were they looking so predatory?

In my nervousness, I sucked on his finger a bit hard and realization finally dawned upon me.

No. Don’t think like that, Valencia. Don’t have any naughty thoughts. I told myself when he pulled his fingers from my mouth with a jerk and walked to the freezer. He pulled out an ice cube and placed it in the middle of his hand, placing my finger on it.

I touched the ice cube, watching it as it was melting in Shadow’s palm.

"Why do you place it like that? It will melt sooner like this. Don’t you know how hot you are?" I chuckled before looking at him, my smile faltering slowly when I saw the smirk on his face.

"I... I mean, oh, the assignment sheets. We had to work on them too," I said, running out of the kitchen as if I was on fire now.

I could hear his soft chuckle from actions in the living room, and a sigh left my mouth.

That was really close. I need to avoid all kinds of intimate interactions with him till he is here.

I nodded at myself. You can do this, Valencia.

However, as soon as he walked out with all the dishes one by one, placing them on the table like a good wife before taking off his apron. I realized one thing.

Tonight, I don’t think I was the victim. Probably Shadow was going to be a victim of my constant ogling.

I sighed, clearing my throat.

"Taste it and tell me how it is," Shadow whispered from behind me, his lips touching my earlobe, making a shudder run down my spine as he placed his hands on my shoulders.

"Since we aren’t at a restaurant. Let me serve you," he said, and I bit my lips, looking down at my plate, feeling shy.

Why? Because I wanted a serving of him too. However, he was surely not on the menu.
