VALENCIA’S POV

It was dark.

The place Aiden brought me into was completely dark.

There was this weird smell of sweat, drinks, and blood in the air, and the more I walked inside, the weirder I felt.

It was giving me cold vibes. Despite the anger that was consuming my head and heart, I still had my intellect intact.

I paused.

I couldn’t take a step forward. There was something about this place that was giving me negative vibes.

And it was the kind of negative vibes that you get from a place where death was natural because it was street fighting and things usually get brutal.

No. It was the kind of negative vibes you would get from a haunted place, like from a graveyard, from a place where sacrifices are made.

Don’t even ask me how I knew all that, but I knew it was exactly what I was feeling.

It was too strange.

But do you know what was more strange? It was the fact that I wasn’t able to feel my wolf in this place.

There was just some kind of energy that was stopping and blocking the contact between me and Aurora, and it was enough for me to step back.

"I... I can’t go further inside. I don’t think I am feeling angry anymore. Besides, it was Mr. Shadow’s lecture. I am a class representative, and I don’t want to lose credits," I nodded at the well-formed lie I made up before turning around to tell Aiden.

However, as soon as I turned around, I paused.

There was no one behind me. It was all empty. I was all alone in this place.

Or maybe I wasn’t. I felt a cold wind, moving my hair and a chill shiver ran down my spine.

Clink.

Clink.

Clink.

The sound of something heavy and metallic being thumped on the ground echoed in the corridor, and my heart matched the beats of the sound.

It started slow, but the fear started to engulf my heart, and I looked around at all black painted walls that were starting to smell weird.

They smelt of... They smelt of dried blood.

The thumping of the metallic heavy thing stopped, and I placed my hand on my chest, breathing in relief.

However, in the next second, something heavy fell on the ground with a loud thump, and my heart nearly leaped out of my mouth.

The voice was followed by the thick smell of blood, and I shuddered in my place, clenching my fist on my dress to stop shivering.

Was this one of the places where they stuff the loser inside a sack and then punch them by hanging them on chains?

They beat them until the person inside the sack is dead or in some more brutal cases, they keep punching the person until the flesh comes out and the pool of blood collects under that sack.

It was truly a horrific activity, but it didn’t mean it wasn’t in practice.

I stepped back.

This wasn’t safe. I needed to be out of here as quickly as possible. The money didn’t look lucrative anymore.

Without looking back, I turned around and started running.

This whole place was like a fucking maze, and the more I ran, the more lost I felt. It was almost as if I was trapped in some kind of humongous Labrinth, and the thought alone was enough for me to pray to the moon goddess.

The smell of the blood was only increasing as I was running.

’Do you think you can run away from it? From me?’ Suddenly I heard a whisper right in my ears, and I shrieked loudly.

"Who is it?! Who is there?! Leave me alone! Let me go!" I shouted in fear as I kept running in a random direction, knowing all too well whoever this person was, it was just a game for him.

However, what I heard in return was a cold emotionless laugh. The laugh was so cold that it made a chill run down my spine. It wasn’t even a proper laugh. It was as if a serpent was hissing.

A weird crawling sensation spread across my body, and I scratched my body to free myself from whatever this sensation was. But to no avail did it stop.

Blood started to ooze out from the places I was scratching, and I knew I needed to stop. But there was no stopping. I was running and scratching at the same time, my blood leaving a trail behind me.

’What a pitiful sight. This is where weaklings like you make a mistake. Do you think you can run away from me? Do you even know who I am? The earth, the sky, and the seven oceans, all reside inside me. I am the eternal truth. Your destiny, your fate, your tears and pain, everything is me. I am your ultimate god,’ The hiss came again, and tears started to roll down my eyes.

I was feeling helpless, and there was nothing I was able to do apart from running.

’Run! Run! Run as fast as you can, you little earthling! Hahaha,’ the sound started to laugh, and I ran faster.

I ran because my life depended on it, and it wasn’t long before I finally found a door.

The corridor ended, and I smiled in hope before unlocking the door.

I was about to step ahead, but the loud swoosh of the wind stopped me from moving any further.

Everything outside was blank. There was nothing in sight, just water. It appeared back in color due to darkness.

It was as if I was in some kind of castle, and if I had taken one more step, I would’ve fallen into the ocean below me.

I closed the door and looked back, my brows scrunching at the weird awful smell.

If I found one door like this, there would be more doors like that and one of them should be the way out. With this resolution, I was about to start running.

However, what I saw next made me widen my eyes.

Even though it was dark, I could see it.

There was a puddle of something sticky in front of me. It was moving.

"Ah!" I shrieked when a hand came out of it before a head came out and within seconds a figure formed. It was trying to stand, the bones cracking at odd angles, but were there really any bones in the first place?

The person was standing right in front of me. Was it even a person in the first place?

It didn’t have any eyes, no nose, just a big mouth. Whatever that sticky substance was, was dripping down its body.

There were no clothes on its body, and it was hard to decipher whether it was a male or female either.

"W-what do you want from me? Why are you doing this to me? W-what’s your story? Have you been hurt by me indirectly?" I tried to buy myself some time to think of a solution to run away from here.

Sweat covered my forehead. My legs and fingers were trembling from fear. I was scared. It was truly horrific.

I have never seen anything like this before. It was something otherworldly.

I couldn’t even call it a skinwalker because they weren’t supposed to be like this.

But it was true they feed on humans, and without a wolf, was I considered a human too? But I had a cat and -

The figure in front of me started laughing again.

"Has life been treating you too well, little girl? Have you been reading too much fiction? Do you think all villains are born with a backstory? That all the evil in this world has a meaning behind it?" The figure asked me, and I froze in my place, my heart drumming in my ears as it took a step ahead.

"What if I tell you that I don’t have any backstory? I am purely evil. I am someone that even the death goddess fears. I am your soul, I am your God," The figure said before it raised its hand, and suddenly the entire area lit up.

I couldn’t move.

My eyes raked the area in pure horror, and I couldn’t move. The walls that smelled like dried blood were indeed stained with blood. There were handcuffs bound to the walls, and the direction of the stains of blood splashes was a clear indication that people had been beheaded here.

But that wasn’t the most horrific thing.

The figure in front of me was made up of blood. There was not even any ounce of flesh or bones.

I could literally see right through it. It was pure red and translucent with blood drops dripping from its body and joining it again.

It was Satan’s spawn. No. Even it would look better than what I was seeing in front of me.

"I.. w-what do you want from me?" I stuttered, and the figure grinned.

I knew it was grinning from the way it’s lips moved wide, and I knew I wasn’t going to like what it had to say next.

"Your blood, of course. I want your high quality blood," The figure said, and I widened my eyes when it started to move towards me at a high speed.

My heart skipped a beat and without thinking twice, I opened the door right behind me and jumped into the ocean.

However, it was a mistake.

It wasn’t an ocean that contained water.

It was probably a lake, a lake that was made up of blood. I could see the bones floating around me, making me puke as the liquid went in my mouth.

I tried to swim towards the shore of the lake, but in the next second, I heard the loud splash, making me scream when I realized the figure was coming for me.

"Aaaaa!" I was pulled under the waterbody as I gulped a mouthful of blood.

"Valencia! Valencia!" I heard my voice, and I opened my eyes, breathing heavily.

Without wasting a second, I unlocked the door of the car and ran to the side before puking the contents of my breakfast.

I quickly wiped my mouth before standing from my place. However, I could only move a few seconds before my body gave up.

My entire body was shivering. It wasn’t a dream. It wasn’t a normal dream. I knew it. This wasn’t just a nightmare.

"Valencia, are you okay?" I felt warm hands wrapping around me, and a soft whimper left my mouth as I cried in pain.

"Save me. It’s coming for me," I whimpered, and the person, whoever it was, caressed my hair.

"Nothing is coming for you. I will protect you," he said, making me cry even louder.
