Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna
Chapter 46: Be my friend?

Chapter 46: Be my friend?

Chapter-46

VALENCIA’S POV

I didn’t dare to turn around. I was afraid to do so.

Why? Because I could feel the anger coursing through him even when he sat just behind me.

"Sold at $20000," the host said, and I gulped.

I didn’t want to stay here anymore, but how was I supposed to tell Aiden about it without alerting the man behind me?

Right. I should go with the washroom excuse and call Aiden out later. This seemed to be the best-fitting solution.

Happy with my plans, I told Aiden I was going to the washroom, ensuring it was loud enough for a couple of chairs around us to hear before I left.

’I need to pee. Take us to the washroom,’ Aurora said as soon as I came a little farther from the event hall, and I scowled.

’Aurora, you are literally a soul in my head space. Can you stop overreacting all the time? You can’t feel the urge to pee. And if WE would need to pee, I would feel it too,’ I rolled my eyes at her.

’You know nothing about me. I said I wanted to pee. Take me to the washroom, I don’t care. If you don’t agree, I will turn you into a cat,’ Aurora threatened me with the same thing she always does to get things done her way.

I sighed.

What was wrong with her?

Sometimes I really feel like I am tending to a kid all the time. And that among the two of us, I am the only one who grew.

Not wanting her to create any more problems for me when my predator was already out, ready to hunt me down, I gave in to her request and walked inside the washroom even though I didn’t want to waste even a single second there.

After using the restroom, I walked out and was about to fish my phone out of my pocket to call Aiden out when someone held my elbow, and before I could scream, I was pulled into the corner as the person placed his hand over my mouth to stop me from screaming.

"Running from me, kitten?" He asked, looking at me dead in the eyes, his eyes serious, but the smirk on his face gave him away.

"And here I thought that at this high rate, I was allowed to take the painting home along with the artist," He whispered before pulling me further into a corner away from the public eye, the dark surroundings making my breath hitch.

What was he seriously doing?

He pressed me further into the wall before tucking my hair behind my ears, the smile on his face appearing a little too mischievous.

"Why did you run away from the hospital? Hmm? Why do you keep running away from me? Don’t you know we wolves are predators by nature, Kitten? The more you run, the more we want to hunt," He whispered, his low voice making my heart flip before I gulped to get hold of my emotions.

I looked at his face, motioning at his hand that was still blocking my lips.

He smiled before removing his hand from my face, making my eyes widen when he sniffed his hand and kissed his own palm, my heart skipping a beat again at what he was doing.

My mind was in a frenzy but I shook my head.

That wasn’t the important part here. The important part was that I needed to get out of here.

He wasn’t good for me. His presence has started to affect me in ways more than I would appreciate, and my wolf has started to go crazy for him.

And this was dangerous for me.

Now that I look at the situation, it wasn’t hard for me to decipher why Aurora forced me to use the washroom.

It was clear she kind of knew and felt that Shadow would be following us, and that was why she was buying time for him. This cunning wolf, I swear.

"I wasn’t running from you," I said.

He quirked his brows, clearly not believing me and I sighed.

"Dylan, I mean, the council’s head’s son told me that it was Alpha Maverick who called him there. I was afraid if I stayed there any longer, your alpha would come to visit me, and I don’t think I am ready to meet him yet," I said honestly, looking down at my feet, a little ashamed to admit that I was indeed scared of this alpha.

I mean, he built a reputation for himself and it wasn’t built with good words shared from mouth to mouth. It was built with blood and battles.

Shadow didn’t say anything for some time, his hands still blocking me between his arms, and I raised my gaze to look at him to see what he was thinking when he smirked.

"You don’t know who he is, do you?" He asked.

I furrowed my brows.

Was I supposed to know him? I don’t think I ever interacted with him or saw him. I would’ve known if I had met with such a powerful alpha.

Honestly, Shadow was the most powerful person I have felt around me so far, and though it doesn’t make any sense, it is what it is.

"Are you trying to threaten me with his name? The only reason I don’t want to meet him is because of this case going around.

At any other given chance, I wouldn’t have run away from him," I said, and seeing him smirking at me as if he didn’t believe a word I said, I couldn’t help but add.

"What are you smirking about? At least I am not like you who saves someone and gives the credit to their alpha just so he could earn brownie points in front of the council members. What an opportunist Alpha," I rolled my eyes, looking away.

Look at him acting all high and mighty and just because he was some beta. Does he really think I am any less? I am also the queen of my own world.

I am something that he won’t even get to meet so easily. A shapeshifter.

He should be considering himself lucky to even be associated with me, with a psychotic, sympathetic, cute, and dangerous shapeshifter like me. But a fool like him won’t know.

’Val, you were supposed to thank him, not mock him and his alpha,’ Aurora reminded me, and I sighed.

Right. How could I forget that?

I shook my head at my own thoughts and raised my hands to push him away to create some distance between us when he held my hand mid-air and slammed it over my head, intertwining his fingers with mine, making me gasp and look at him wide-eyed.

What the hell was wrong with this guy?

"You-"

"Has anyone ever told you that your sharp mouth is going to get you into serious trouble someday?" Shadow asked me, and his serious expression told me the joking season was over.

"I... I wanted to say thank you to you for saving my life," I said quickly, hoping to change the topic and have him soften his gaze.

When he didn’t say anything, I looked away from him, looking around to ensure no one saw us in this compromising position, and he immediately grabbed my chin with his free hand, forcing me to look back at him.

"Don’t look away when I am talking to you. It makes me mad," He said.

And it was supposed to bother me because?

I was about to give him a piece of my mind for telling me what to do when he averted his gaze to my lips and rubbed my bottom lip with his thumb, the emotions swirling in them, making me blush a little.

The sound of someone coming towards us intensified, and I looked at Shadow with wide eyes.

He didn’t look like he cared about being caught like this with me, but it wasn’t the same case for me.

What would people think? That I was getting involved with my professor? No. I wasn’t into that kind of forbidden romance trope.

Geez. What the hell was I thinking? Where did that even come from? Romance? Forbidden? With this guy? I swear something was wrong with the way my brain processes things sometimes.

"What are you doing? Someone is coming. Leave me," I hissed at him, and he smiled.

"Be my friend," he said.

"What?" I asked, confused.

Did I really hear him right? The predator wants to befriend the prey.

And just in case anyone confuses it, I am the predator here. I scoffed, still looking at him, confused.
