Chapter 38: Planning

VALENCIA’S POV

"For someone who dodged a bullet last night, you look extremely happy," Aurora commented.

’This isn’t the first time I dodged a bullet. What’s the big deal?’ I asked before checking my reflection in the mirror.

’By the way, Aurora,’ I whispered to get her attention and she hummed vaguely with her eyes closed.

’Don’t you think the moon goddess made me when she was too happy? Look at my features. If I had been a guy, I would’ve fallen in love with myself,’ I said as I pulled my own cheeks.

Aurora snickered, not opening her eyes.

’You do know that’s exactly what we call self-obsession, right?’ She asked with an amused smile.

I scoffed.

She is just jealous because she can’t take control of this beautiful body.

With a grin, I looked at her with a condescending smile, ’You know nothing about self-obsession. If I had been self-obsessed, I would -’ I stopped talking.

’You?’ Aurora asked.

’Should I wear these hot pants instead?’ I asked, and Aurora looked at me with raised brows.

She knows very well that I don’t like showing much skin because of my shyness and don’t wear such things outside.

Thus, her reaction was valid. But for some reason, I was feeling like wearing it.

’Are you sure you want to wear it?’ Aurora asked, and I shrugged.

I should be allowed to break some rules every once in a while and not care about what others might think, right?

’Don’t you break rules almost every fucking day? Besides, are you sure it’s not related to a particular beta who was sniffing you earlier because he was missing the cat?’ Aurora asked with a wink, and I rolled my eyes, heat creeping up my neck as I was reminded about what transpired between us last night.

I changed my jeans and wore hot pants with a top and my favorite denim jacket over it.

After checking my reflection one last time and applying the tinted lip balm, I walked out of my room and greeted Dylan and Carl, who were doing God knows what in my kitchen.

"Do any of you even know how to cook?" I asked as I looked at the mess they created in my kitchen. I just hope they clean it because no way in hell I am doing that.

As soon as I said those words, Carl briefly looked at me and smirked before going back to frying pasta. However, he paused and turned to look at me once again.

"Nice legs," he winked at me, and I rolled my eyes at him.

Dylan, who was making chocolate shakes for all of us, turned to look at me before a scowl appeared on his face.

"I thought you were going to University, Princess," He said, and I nodded.

"I am indeed going to University," I said.

"Dressed like this?" Dylan raised his brows.

"Come on, Dylan. Let her live a little. You are acting like she is wearing a one-piece bikini or something. You guys seriously act like her dad and brother," Carl commented before he showed me a thumbs-up and winked at me.

I couldn’t help but shake my head at his way of supporting me.

"I am not acting like her brother," Dylan said with a controlled voice.

"Is that so? Then is it like her boyfriend?" Carl asked and Dylan glared at the man, making me chuckle at their little banter.

"When will you guys return from your meeting? We can hang out before Dylan leaves for the council chambers," I asked to ease the heat between them, and Dylan gave me a stern look.

Woah. Me wearing these hit pants wasn’t necessarily that bad, was it?

"We should be back by evening," Carl said, and I hummed.

"Is the breakfast ready and edible, or do I need to prepare everything from scratch?" I looked at the frying pan.

Though I was saying those words, I wouldn’t lie, the mouth-watering smell of the food was making me even more hungry.

After having breakfast with Dylan and Carl with Dylan giving me a lecture about how I am supposed to hold back on my adventurous soul to avoid the rogues, I was finally on my way to University.

I told them what happened last night, obviously hiding the fact that I met a strange lady who god knows was doing what, and Dylan said I needed to stay away from the rogues if I wanted to keep my identity hidden.

Then again, I don’t think he has anything to worry about.

Why? Because I don’t plan on roaming the forest and risking my life.

For now, I planned to disturb a particular beta and make his life so troubling that he stopped interacting with me once and for all.

A smile appeared on my face as I thought about all the plans I formed overnight.

He wanted to keep the cat. He wanted to smell her scent on me, huh? I was too unfocused at that time because of that incident with the rogue where I almost lost my life, but if he thinks I am a kid who doesn’t understand these basic tricks, he doesn’t know who he is messing with.

"Woah, what the- " Leen walked to me with wide eyes as she looked me up and down, and I felt a blush rising on my cheeks.

"Is it going to rain pigs?" Tracy winked at me, and I grinned at the girl as she placed her hand around my shoulders.

"You look mouth-watering," Leen smiled at me before pulling my cheeks, and I suppressed the urge to snicker mockingly.

Seriously, these humans treat me like I was their baby or something. I wonder how they would react if they came to know this baby even turns into a tigress and cat whenever needed and can pull the hearts straight out of their chests without blinking her eyes.

"Let’s go quickly. I don’t want to be late for the lecture," I said and was about to turn around the corner with the two girls when someone held my hand, making me stop with a jerk as I was pulled back because of the intensity, my body almost colliding with the person.

I looked up at the person with raised brows.

"Good morning, Princess," Aiden said, his intense gaze looking into my eyes as if he wanted to pierce my soul.

Leen and Tracy left me alone, just like always whenever Aiden came to greet me, and I cleared my throat.

"Good morning, Aiden," I whispered, not even knowing why I was whispering in the first place.

What the heck was wrong with my mouth?

’You are feeling shy,’ Aurora said, and I smiled at her.

Thank you for stating the obvious, Miss Cat. I wanted to say but chose against it.

"The lecture will start soon," I commented when I noticed he had no intention of leaving my hand and he hummed.

"I know," he tucked my hair behind my ears before he started moving, and I followed him.

Feeling someone’s stare on my back, I turned around to see who it was, but when I noticed the empty hallway, I shrugged.

Might be just my paranoia.
