Beast Alpha and His Cursed Luna -
Chapter 39: Bad news or good news?
Chapter 39: Bad news or good news?
VALENCIA’S POV
"Hey, it’s your favorite professor," Henry knocked on my desk, and I looked up at the entrance of the room.
Woah. What the hell? My pupils dilated and my heart immediately skipped a beat when I saw the man walking inside in a black shirt with his sleeves rolled to his elbows.
The upper two buttons of his shirt were undone and he was wearing gray pants.
GRAY PANTS!
Was a beta really supposed to be this hot? I mean, THIS HOT?!!!!!
’We heard you. Keep quiet. Let me admire in peace,’ Aurora groaned at the exclamation in my head and heat crept up my neck as soon as our gazes met.
"Shut up," I scolded my wolf and looked down at my nails, not wanting to be caught staring for too long.
’Come on, Val. Stare a little bit more. I am not able to see because of you either,’ Aurora hissed.
I gritted my teeth.
’Have you lost your mind? What will he think of us if we are caught staring? Don’t you have any shame? At least think about me,’ I hissed back and the wolf glared at me.
This wasn’t good. Whenever she glared at me angrily, I knew what was coming next, and just like always, she didn’t disappoint me.
’If you don’t look up now, I swear I will turn you into a cat,’ She threatened.
’You are not serious,’ I said but she just grinned at me, making me sigh dejectedly.
Clenching my fists, I was about to raise my gaze to check out the hot man once again when he called my name.
"Miss Valencia, please go arrange the lab setups. We will have a practical session today," He said to all the students, his voice cold and distant.
Something was definitely wrong.
Could it be that he was angry because of what happened last night? But I wasn’t even at fault. Then...
’What if he found something against us?’ Aurora said and I bit my lower lip before standing from my place.
I held my breath as I passed by him, not wanting to inhale his intoxicating scent and give anything away. If he found out what my wolf was thinking about him, I am sure the egotistic guy would bask in self-glory and narcissism.
Without waiting, I went straight to the laboratory and started arranging the required materials for the experiments.
I swear I hate it. Who asked the dean to make me the class representative?
Let him return from his in-laws’ house once. I will surely teach that old man a lesson. I gritted my teeth before placing the last beaker on the slab.
"Done?"
"Yeah, I am -" I froze in my place when I felt his hot breath in my ears.
"Shadow, what are you-?" I turned around, my hand accidentally hitting the beaker, and it was about to fall on the ground, making me close my eyes.
However, before it could hit the ground, Shadow quickly grabbed it, making me applaud his reflexes mentally.
Then again, he was the beta of the strongest pack in the world.
"Why are you always so jumpy around me? Hmm? It almost makes me believe you did something," He asked, making me notice how close he came to me as he placed the beaker behind me, my heart thumping loudly in my chest.
"I... What are you doing? Y-you are supposed to teach and not-" I held my breath when he suddenly neared, making me close my eyes subconsciously.
Wait. What the hell was I doing? Was I waiting for him to kiss me?
I opened my eyes and panicked, and the smile on his face was a clear indication that he caught me off-guard.
This son of a -!
I clenched my jaws and stepped aside to move when he held my hand and pulled me back in front of him, caging me between his arms as he placed them on either side of me.
"There have been many rogues in the forests near our pack recently," he said.
I nodded in understanding. He was right about that, there were indeed many rogues near the pack. It was almost as if they were planning something big against Alpha Maverick.
"I know. Didn’t I meet one yesterday?" I sighed before remembering something.
"Right. Dylan and Carl, I mean, the council head’s son and his cousin are in the city at the moment. If your alpha wants, he can meet them and clarify any doubt regarding me. This will help you guys fasten up the case and you won’t have to waste your time here," I said.
Shadow didn’t say anything for a few seconds.
He just kept looking into my eyes, making me self-conscious and I was about to ask him if he was planning to move anytime soon or if he wanted someone to catch us when he finally spoke.
"Where are they staying? I will inform my alpha. I think we can discuss the situation with the rogues too. If they are living too far away, we will have to reschedule the other meetings and -" Shadow started, but I shook my head.
"You don’t need to worry about those things. They are living quite close to your pack. They are living in my house. It’s walking distance -" I paused when I realized what kind of mistake I made.
"What I mean is -"
"The council’s head’s son is staying with you.
His cousin is staying with you two. Two grown-up men are staying with you and you are acting like it’s not a problem?" Shadow asked me, and I shrugged.
"It will only look like a problem if you think about it like that. We never had a problem sharing a room. There were times when we had to share the same tent during the training times. So what’s wrong with it?" I asked.
The man smiled at me, and I looked down at my feet, his feet were almost touching mine, making me gulp.
Anyone could see the smile he was giving me was a bit forced and unreal.
"Is that so?" He asked.
I nodded, a little unsure myself.
Anyone was bound to think weirdly. Even I could see how awkward my words were.
"By the way, about the rogues you mentioned earlier. What did you mean by that? Has your team found anything?" I asked, hope brimming in my eyes because the presence of rogues was also hindering my plans.
"Mmhhmm," he said before tucking my hair behind my ears.
"What I wanted to say was, since there are so many rogues in the forests right now -" He stepped ahead, our bodies almost touching each other, and I felt my breath hitch when his hands that were caging me between his arms, started to come close to my body, making the goosebumps on my skin rise.
His finger, almost touching the skin on my thighs.
"Our alpha is busy with the rogue handling case, and the investigation of your case has been postponed," Shadow said
I smiled in relief.
"That’s great. Does that mean I can move freely till my case goes back into investigation?" I asked, and the man chuckled, his soft velvety voice making my knees weak and promising me nothing good at the same time.
"How naive are you, kitten? It means that you will be under our jurisdiction and the ban for an extended amount of time," He smirked and I looked at him with wide eyes.
He was kidding me, right?
"I am not kidding you, Miss Valencia. Not for now at least," He smirked, licking his bottom lip, making my gaze immediately shift to his wet pink lip before I shifted my gaze back to his eyes, the dark look in them, making me realize what kind of deep sh*t I was in.
"You seem quite uncomfortable around me. Get used to it. We will be seeing a lot of each other," he whispered in my ears, his lips almost touching my earlobe before he turned around and left, leaving me deep in thought as I stood there helplessly.
There was no way this was happening.
Was it my fault that there were rogues in the forests?!
’Stop whining so much Valencia. Just enjoy the ride. I mean, if he lets us ride,’ Aurora said, giving me a wolfy grin.
I couldn’t help myself as I looked at her helplessly.
I swear people want to get on my nerves all the time.
On one side there was this beta who didn’t leave any chance to bully me and on the other side was my wolf who wanted to be bullied in more ways than anyone would be able to anticipate.
What the hell do I do?! I groaned, all my plans were going to drain.
